Paris and England Trip (20/6/2013-2/7/2013) – Part 13

Posted on September 11, 2013September 12, 2013 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Paris and England Trip (20/6/2013-2/7/2013) – Part 13

29/6/2013, wow! More than two months ago, almost 3 months still haven’t complete my post ;p

The next day, it’s another road trip which also indicated that our trip is coming to an end real soon.

Scenery on the way to Bowness Bay where Windermere, England largest lake, can be found.

The lake… We are near to the town.

We’re here! See the lake behind?

Another kind of view.

We tried the ice cream there, heard it was good. No doubt, yes! It was good! Very rich and smooth. We tried the one at Windermere Ice Cream Co. (Chestnut Rd, Windermere LA23 2AL, United Kingdom). I don’t remember the flavours or even the price as I wasn’t the one buying it. I was too busy taking photos and enjoying the view. Lots of shops selling various types of candies along the street (pictures on the left).

Even shops selling soap, candles, all sort of aromatherapy products, spices, and various types of alcohol from the lake district can be found there. These are soaps! Goodness, looks yummy! Smells yummy too! ;p Thought of buying them but at the end I didn’t. Instead I bought 3 miniature bottles of Strawberry Bank Fruit Liqueurs hehehe… Not for drinking, just as souvenir.

It’s lunch time, we had our lunch at Hyltons Restaurant (Ash Street, Bowness-on-Windermere, LA23 3EB, England).

Left: Steak and Ale Pie (£9.75), succulent British beef in rich beer gravy topped with a short crust pastry lid and served with vegetables, and potatoes. Careful! The content is hot! Very rich and succulent indeed.

Right: Seafood Pasta (£12.95), Clams. Mussels, Prawns, Green lip Mussels, served in a Garlic & White Wine Sauce. Not bad! I like it. Not too much sauce, it was just right.

Left: Bangers & Mash (£9.75), local Cumberland sausage with creamy mashed potato and a rich onion gravy. Love the sausage.

Right: Pork belly (£11.95), slow roasted belly pork served with creamy mashed potato, and an apple cider sauce. I like this too, the pork belly just melted in the mouth. Combined with the apple cider sauce, it balanced out the oiliness.

Overall, the food was great, price was reasonable.

After lunch, we went to Pasty Presto (Royal Square, Lake Road, Bowness-on-Windermere LA23 3DB) to get some pies in case we need to eat something while driving for about 3 hours to our accommodation to call it a day. These are award winning pies but I’m really not a pie person especially pie with meat filling (except curry puff hehehe…) so I didn’t really enjoy them.

Not to forget, this shop, Peter Rabbit and Friends. Finally get to see it in real life after reading its storybooks and watching its cartoon when I was still a child. Didn’t buy any souvenir from here though. Didn’t really visit the actual site, no time at all. This is the gift shop but it’s good enough. If you are wondering what is the relationship between this place and this storybook? I’ll just tell you briefly. The Lake District’s natural beauty and abundant wildlife had inspired Beatrix Potter to come out with the characters and setting of the story.

That’s the end of our road trip for the day.

Not Again?!?!

Posted on September 9, 2013September 11, 2013 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Not Again?!?!

GOODNESS!! Can’t believe this is happening again! Remember I got a new laptop (Acer Aspire V5-471G-53334G50B) few months back? To be exact, not even 2 months! Now… I have one whole line of horizontal dead pixels on my screen!

I still have so much posts pending, Europe trip, product/food reviews, and the just concluded Melaka trip. I guess with this problem, updates is surely slowing down again!

Why oh why? All my previous laptops surely will have dead pixels problem, NEC (one day after getting it), Dell (after using it for years), now Acer (less than 2 months using it). Be grateful though, there’s warranty and I heard the service is quite fast for Acer *finger crossed*.

Now, have to back up, back up, and delete some information before sending it for warranty claim. Hopefully can get it back a.s.a.p. Gonna ask them to change the keyboard too, one of the Ctrl keys isn’t that smooth.

Hada Labo Hydra and Whitening Face Wash

Posted on September 7, 2013September 3, 2013 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Hada Labo Hydra and Whitening Face Wash

Bought a new facial wash last week. I didn’t do any research but just went straight to the shop and did a bit of comparisons then decided to buy Hada Labo Hydra and Whitening Face Wash not knowing that it’s actually a new product from Hada Labo.

Bentonite Clay
Mineral clay from natural volcanic ash has high content of minerals to effectively absorb excess dirt, oil & impurities from skin

Resveratrol
A natural compound found in red grapes helps to brighten ad enhance skin fairness

Fucosorb
Natural seaweed extract with minerals & vitamins to provide moisturizing & antioxidant effects

Super Hyaluronic Acid
Intense hydration ingredient helps to prevent dryness and keep skin soft & supple

Got it for RM17.88 (discounted price, it was on offer).

My skin didn’t go well with it. Kind of regret. It was a bit drying to my face after wash even tough it claimed that it has hydration ingredient in there. I also developed some patches of redness and a bit of itchiness on my face. I think there might be something in there that I’m sensitive to, I don’t know what. Could be the whitening property in there as I noticed that I did suffer from such effect after using facial wash that contains whitening effect.

The only good thing was it foamed really well. All you need is just very little to get very rich and luxurious foam. I would say it is not a bad facial wash for those with normal skin but not those who have sensitive/dry skin.

It’s Been 6 Months…

Posted on September 1, 2013September 1, 2013 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on It’s Been 6 Months…

It’s been 6 months since I’m back home in Kuching. Nothing much exciting happening. All plans didn’t work out as it should. Frankly, still struggling to cope with the life back here after leaving everything behind for almost 2 years to experience the short-live Australian dream of mine.

Last year this day, it was a very lovely day, bright blue sky, spring had arrived in Adelaide. My then “other half” organized a surprise advance birthday party for me to welcome my 30th birthday. Everything was great, everything just fell into places, thinking that finally all my dreams had came true. Was the happiest girl on earth.

Apart from that, September last year was the month I sat for my final exam, thinking that I would fail the course but I passed! Got better grade than expected. It marked the end of my life as a postgrad student in UniSA. Also, I got to spend time with my then “other half” and his family. It was a very exciting and happy month I must say. Was on cloud 9 almost everyday.

I remember back in 2011, when I first celebrated my birthday in Adelaide, my last birthday of my 20’s, it was horrible! Who knows? My last birthday in Adelaide, the beginning of my 30’s was a total opposite of 2011. Hoping that for the next few years, I’ll be celebrating more of my birthdays in Adelaide with that special someone but apparently, it’s not the case. I did not make a wish before blowing the candle, I should have! Who would expect things just took a whole new turn, the dream was shattered and heart was broken about 2 months later. What a blow! I’m now back here, back to square one, going to celebrate my birthday in Kuching in few days time as how it used to be before going to Australia.

Maybe things happened for a reason. I’ll just take one day as it is while struggling to reestablish myself back here. Hopefully I can make a come back to the blogging scene in Malaysia or at least in Kuching. It’s not easy after going almost-missing for more than 2 years. Everything has changed, it’s a very different ball game now in this industry.

WOW! I’m welcoming September with such an emo post. Anyway, that’s all I can say for now. I will be heading to KL for a weekend in few days time for a short family trip. Hopefully September this year will be an awesome month, as awesome as it was last year even though it seems far fetch.

Hopefully all of you will have a blast welcoming September, soon it will be 2014. My usual saying, time flies… Take care!

Paris and England Trip (20/6/2013-2/7/2013) – Part 12

Posted on August 28, 2013September 14, 2013 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Paris and England Trip (20/6/2013-2/7/2013) – Part 12

It’ll be just photos all the way, not much to talk about ;p Actually, I’m just feeling lazy. Anyway, the view was really nice, it’s just like in the storybook, never in my dream that I will be seeing such scenery with my own eyes.

We went up the staircase… 199 steps leading to St. Mary’s Church. Forgot to count on the way up ;p

Here’s the view from the top.

Goodbye Whitby!

The Teesquay Millennium Bridge at Thornaby.

That’s the end of day 9.

Why do you want to dig that far?
