Posted on January 8, 2019January 8, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on IT’S GAME ON FOR YOODO USERS!

Yoodo’s Sponsorship of Malaysia’s First Official PUBG MOBILE National Championship is first of more to come

19 December 2018, KUALA LUMPUR – Yoodo – Malaysia’s first truly customisable digital mobile service just announced that it is the Official Digital Telco for Malaysia’s First Official Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) organised by PUBG Corporation and Tencent Games. This is great news for gamers and will be the first of many features and partnerships to come as the brand plans on getting into gaming in a major way.

PUBG MOBILE is highly popular among gamers and the First Official MOBILE National Championship will see close to 256 teams from all across Malaysia competing for the whopping RM60,000 total prize pool. Grand Prize winners will also walk away with a free 1-year mobile plan from Yoodo.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Chow Tuck Mun, Head of Yoodo said, “We are proud to be working with Tencent Games, the world’s largest gaming company and equally excited to be sponsoring PUBG MOBILE being one of the world’s most popular multiplayer games. E-Sports is growing in popularity in Malaysia and we want to be a major part of mobile gaming in our effort to continuously excite our fast-growing Yoodo community.”

The move to sponsor the tournament of this highly coveted mobile game is a clear message of the brand’s confidence in its streaming speed and strength. Tuck Mun added that gaming will be one of the important lifestyle areas of focus for Yoodo next year and users can expect a stream of add-ons, features and activities.

“We will be introducing a PUBG MOBILE add-on, a first of its kind in Malaysia. This add-on will allow Yoodo users greater freedom to game with increased data quotas dedicated to the game,” he said. “If it’s good enough for gamers, it will far exceed a normal user’s expectations,” he added.

The PMNC tournament qualifiers will start on 22 December in Johor Bahru, from there crosshairs will turn to Sabah (25 December), Sarawak (6 January) and Kuala Lumpur (12 January) where gamers will vie for the chance to showcase their talents on a national level at the grand finale on 26 January in Kuala Lumpur.

I’ve been trying to hold on to Windows phone for as long as I can because it’s very basic, nothing fancy, nothing complicated. Guess it’s time to say goodbye after almost 4 years… At the end, I’m joining the Android family. Let’s see how long this phone will last. 😉

Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015

Posted on April 27, 2015April 27, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015

Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015 happened in Kuching today. I only managed to attend the afternoon session. Very informative session for most I’m sure. For me, it’s all basic knowledge that I already knew. However, great to meet many whom I’ve not met for a long time.

Finally got to experience Google Glass and the Oculus Rift first hand. The former was a meh; the latter was amazing! I was in heels and just had my lunch, was a little dizzy and had not recovered from the shock when I was on the way to the function. I almost got into an accident because of the slippery road and I underestimate the curve of the road. When I tried Oculus Rift, not even 5 seconds, I surrendered. Yes! Sweet Surrender surrendered because she got too dizzy on a roller coaster while wearing the Oculus Rift hahaha…

Microsoft Lumia 535 Review

Posted on March 30, 2015April 27, 2015 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Microsoft Lumia 535 Review

After using this phone for more than 3 months, I’m now going to review it. The last time I reviewed one was in 2010 ;p This is my second smartphone. Previously using a RM2K+ (sponsored by a local telco), now downgraded to RM429 (paid from my own pocket). A lot of difference! It’s still a Windows Phone but different brand.

It took me months to finally decide on what phone to buy. I wasn’t willing to pay more than RM500, wanted to get Xiaomi but no more stock, couldn’t wait for it to replenish, I ended up buying Microsoft Lumia 535 in December 2014 when it was just launched. Not really what I wanted, I bought it simply because of the price and it’s a Windows Phone.

The specifications:
Dimensions: 140.2 x 72.4 x 8.8 mm (5.52 x 2.85 x 0.35 in)
Weight: 146 g (5.15 oz)
SIM: Micro-SIM
Display Type: IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
Size: 5.0 inches (~67.9% screen-to-body ratio)a
Resolution: 540 x 960 pixels (~220 ppi pixel density)
Multitouch: Yes
Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 3
OS: Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1
Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
CPU: Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7
GPU: Adreno 302
Card slot: microSD, up to 128 GB
Internal: 8 GB, 1 GB RAM
Primary Camera: 5 MP, 2592 x 1936 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
Features: 1/4” sensor size, geo-tagging
Video: 480p@30fps
Secondary Camera: 5 MP
Battery: Li-Ion 1905 mAh battery (BL-L4A)
Stand-by: Up to 552 h
Talk time: Up to 11 h (2G) / Up to 13 h (3G)

Come in 4 colours but I went for black. Should get orange hahaha…

There isn’t much good things to say about this phone though. Aside from being a Windows Phone which is what I’ve been looking for, not heavy on the processing. Very straight forward and easy to use. I prefer the GUI of Windows Phone. Take great video even in low light; take great photos when the lighting is sufficient. The audio is awesome too.

The cons are a lot more than the pros.

In the camera mode, the sub menu cannot be pulled out. Tried a lot of times, only came out by luck if you swiped on the right spot. I have no idea where’s the spot. This is known problem and it’s not fixed till now. Was told that the fix will come but till now nothing fixed. There’s quite a number of updates already on the OS. Not hardware problem.

The three buttons down there only came out when swiped the bottom of the screen. Why don’t just placed them down there rather than leaving that area empty. Refer to the photo on the right, my old HTC on the right and Lumia on the left. If you get what I meant.

If only it’s smaller, I don’t like this big phone even though this is considered standard size these days.

Internal memory is too small, apps cannot be installed into the microSD, you need to install an app for it first before you can do that but I can’t seem to find which one.

Sometimes the tiles will be deactivated for no reason and the app cannot be opened. Sometimes it will fixed on its own; sometimes just delete the tile and re-pin to start screen; if all failed, it will reinstall required.

The phone would go bonkers with the apps from time to time and the only way to fix it is to reformat the whole thing and start from scratch. Previously, few apps couldn’t be used, tiles were deactivated all at the same time. Now, the current problem I’m facing, the camera app, set as “no flash” yet when I took photo, the flash just came on. Too much work to reformat the phone again. Let it be. Until more problems arise, I’ll reformat again.

The camera is bad in taking photo in low light situation. The front camera too. I never need to edit my selfies with previous phone but this is even with full makeup, you still looked sickly pale. Need a lot of light to get good selfie without looking sick. Even one of the editing apps is hard to find. Sometimes I can find it but most of the time I couldn’t find the app I wanted to use. Don’t remember what’s the app called but you can actually enlarge your eyes, enhance your smile and so on with that app. It’s quite fun actually, till now I have no idea where to pull it out *LOL*

After taking photo, it will not give you chance preview. Will have to click on the preview button to see it. Not user friendly.

The buttons at the side are easily pressed by accident.

The cover isn’t well-fit. Could feel that it’s loose when you’re tapping on the phone. Only way to fix it, I got a casing for it.

Overall, I won’t recommend anyone to get this phone unless you don’t mind all those shortfalls. As for me, I will still stick to it until it’s time to change a new one. I don’t regret buying it, enough for me to use and it’s cheap, so be it. Let’s see how long it will last. My previous phone lasted for 4 years.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH IDOL X and MINI (Kuching Launch)

Posted on September 26, 2013September 26, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on ALCATEL ONETOUCH IDOL X and MINI (Kuching Launch)

Alcatel is launching its two new phones in Kuching earlier on just now. It’s been awhile not attending such event. Please bare with me, I’m not a tech blogger, I’ll just talk about it from dumb user point of views hahaha…

Here’s ALCATEL ONETOUCH IDOL MINI.

The size (127.1 x 62 x 7.9mm) is all right with me. It’s very light too (96g). It’s so light that I didn’t feel like I’m holding something and there’s a risk of it just fell from my hand if I didn’t pay attention. However, get a casing for it and it shouldn’t be much of a problem. There’s two colours for this, slate and silver.

The good thing about this phone is that it can support dual SIM, so you don’t have to carry two phones with you. The OS installed is Android Jelly Bean v4.2 with Dual Core 1.3GHz CPU. For me, it’s enough for my usage. I don’t really use much functions of such phone, as long I can make calls, SMS, instant messaging once in a while, basic web surfing, and camwhoring is good enough for me. The retail price is RM499, not bad for the price. Maybe I should get this to replace my phone hehehe… Wait… My phone is still working very well, better save this amount of money for something else ;p Maybe when I got a proper job and I’ll reward myself with this phone.

Next, this is ALCATEL ONETOUCH IDOL X.

It’s almost as big as my palm (140.4 x 67.5 x 6.9mm). Ok… I have small palm but this also means it’s too big for me, hard to slip it into my clutch too. It’s quite light too, only 120g. Two colours available, slate and red.

This one is priced at RM1099. Again, it can support dual SIM. The OS used is Android Jelly Bean v4.2 with Dual Core 1.5GHz CPU. The camera is definitely way advanced than ALCATEL ONETOUCH IDOL MINI.

Left: The size comparison.
Right: Mr. KL Kong (country manager of TCT Mobile Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.) and Mr. Steven Tan (CEO of Ten Ten Telecommunication Sdn. Bhd.) showing the media the new phones.

That’s all about the launch. I’ll be in KL this weekend, so there won’t be any update but there should be real time updates in Twitter.
