My Experience with 5D Diamond Embroidery (Diamond Painting)

Posted on February 19, 2020April 16, 2020 By sweet surrender No Comments on My Experience with 5D Diamond Embroidery (Diamond Painting)

I’ve been wanting to post about this since 2018 and guess what?!?! I’ve totally forgotten about publishing hahaha…

If you have noticed back in 2018(doubt you even remember or have seen it, it’s 2020 now!), I’ve been making quite a few 5D diamond embroideries and shared it on my social media accounts(Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter). Many people were wondering about it, it looked fun and they would love to try.

Let me share my experience with you. The key components of the embroidery set made up of:

1. A canvas with your preferred image, the areas to stick the resin diamonds are sticky.
2. Packs of resin diamonds for you to stick on the canvas.
3. A tray for you to pour the resin diamond when you work on the canvas.
4. A drill with a piece of sticky patch for you to pick up the resin diamond so that you can easily fill the canvas with it.

It’s not hard to do, all you need it a lot of patience and time. It is pretty addictive too once you got the hang of it.

What you need to bear in mind is to make sure you don’t soil the sticky area, otherwise the resin diamonds will not stick. Normally I did it by colour rather than by area. Do not remove the layer of plastic completely, only reveal the part where you want to work with. Cover the plastic back after you’re done with the part so that those area that you’ve not work on will still stay sticky. Don’t rest anything or even your arm or wrist on the sticky part.

So far, I did 5 already. Framed them up too.

Try it out if you want to. Not too expensive when you buy it online. It’s so much easier than cross-stich. No need to tinker with needle and it’s safe for children too. Just like colouring except you colour with resin diamonds. Here’s what I’ve done over the 7 months of 2018 hehehe…

By the way, I’ve stopped doing it already. I’ve given my last set to a friend as birthday present because I just can’t find time to do it anymore(just an excuse ;p). It can really take up your whole day doing it and continue on for days! The fun and enthusiasm will be gone if I can’t glue myself to it for hours and days. Once I got it all done, aside from feeling accomplished, I would feel guilty because I spent too much time on it. At least I’ve done 5 ;p You really need to control yourself and manage your time when you want to do this.

Decided to make a follow-up video of this video on Candy Magic Mini Straightener that I bought last year because I didn’t test it fully on my hair, just a small chunk.

In this follow-up video, I tested it fully on my hair, the whole head of hair. Check out how effective and easy it is to use.

Hope this video can help you decide on whether this mini hair straightener is worth buying or not.

Pam&Roy Herbal Water Color | Only Add Water to Color Your Hair

Posted on February 1, 2020February 10, 2022 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Pam&Roy Herbal Water Color | Only Add Water to Color Your Hair

If you are looking for alternative to your usual grey coverage product, here’s one new product that is coming to Guardian Malaysia near you in in few weeks time. The usual hair color has Ammonia which can be foul smelling and come with chemical developer. Fret not, this one will just need water and it has hint of lavender smell, not too overwhelming, in fact I didn’t smell much of it after mixing it.

Here you go… Korea Premium Brand Grand Prize winner for hair care product… Pam&Roy Herbal Water Color.

Pam&Roy is made in Korea with 32 types of herb, plants, grain and patented traditional Korean Medicinal ingredients. This herbal permanent grey hair coverage dye product provides 100% grey coverage and can help in preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. It can prevent hair loss cause by Alopecia.

There is no Peroxide, Ammonia, ingredients derived from animal, mineral oil, and Henna in the hair color which is great because you won’t get hair damage, scalp irritation, and eye irritation from it. It is also suitable for those with sensitive scalp. The key ingredients are Korean Red Pine, Mugwort Extract, Pestalotian Leaf, Sophora Flavescens Aiton, Cnidium Rhizome Extract.

It comes in 4 colours(Natural Black, Dark Brown, Light Brown, and Medium Brown).

Each box contains Pam&Roy Herbal Color Powder (10g x 3), mixing bowl, vinyl gloves, vinyl gown, mixing stick, a dye brush, and instruction manual. Having three individually packed powder is very convenient, you don’t have to worry about wastage and hygiene.

Each sachet can be easily opened without scissors.

All you need is warm water(70-80 degree Celsius) to be added with the color powder. Here’s the suggestion on how much to use:
Partial grey hair: 10g(1 sachet)+50ml water
Short hair: 20g(2 sachets)+100ml water
Medium length hair: 30g(3 sachets)+150ml water
*This is just a guideline, it depends very much on your hair length and volume.

This one here that I’m trying is dark brown. I don’t have any grey hair though ;p I’m getting help from my mother hahaha…

Left: After adding water and the herb powder into the mixing bowl, stir well for 1-2 minutes. It is best to let it ‘rest’ for 3-4 minutes so that you can get better result and not too watery.

Right: Start applying to the hair. Section your hair for easier application. The brush and comb is very easy to use.

After you are done with it, wrap your hair with shower cap(I used the vinyl gown to wrap) and leave it for 30-40 minutes.

When the time is up, rinse with warm water and shampoo twice.

After the coloring session, towel dry your hair and blow dry completely to prevent any color loss. For better result, you can apply hair oil to your towel-dry hair and blow dry with cool air.

Since the ingredients don’t irritate your scalp and hair, you can repeat the usage as many time as you want. There are feedbacks from users that the more you use it, the better the hair condition gets.

Here’s the before and after photos. It covers all the grey. Since the original hair has black and grey, the dark brown we used gave an illusion of highlight to the hair, the effect is quite nice. The grey area is dark brown in color while the black remains black. It can’t be seen in the photo though, tried hard to capture the effect but it just didn’t show. If you don’t want that effect, then it is best to get the color closest to your original hair color.

There you go… That’s my review of Pam&Roy Herbal Water Color. This product is given to me for review but all opinions are my own. You can buy Pam&Roy Herbal Water Color EXCLUSIVELY at Guardian Malaysia at RM43.90 per box. It will be available in middle of February 2020 in Guardian Malaysia.

Day 7: Must Eat Kobe Beef When In Kobe | Kobe Beef at Akanoren

Posted on January 7, 2020January 4, 2020 By sweet surrender No Comments on Day 7: Must Eat Kobe Beef When In Kobe | Kobe Beef at Akanoren

Last year, I did go to Kobe but we didn’t eat any Kobe beef. This time around, it is a must to eat it!! There are many Kobe beef eateries around, very easy to find. Don’t worry about them charging high price for it if it is located in the tourist attractions, there shouldn’t be such problem. They all charged pretty much similar and do not worry about it being fake. I believe Japanese don’t do that and they take pride in their beef and their integrity.

There are so many of them at Nankin Machi, Chinatown of Kobe. We didn’t have ours here because it was still early. This is quite an interesting place to go and it is also a foodie heaven. Eateries everywhere!

We had ours at Akanoren(3 Chome-9-5 Sannomiyacho, Chuo Ward, Kobe, Hyogo 650-0021, Japan). This restaurant was founded in 1906. It wasn’t plan, we just decided to go for it because of the rain and it was already way over lunch time and we were so hungry after so much walking at the shopping streets. It rained throughout our time there. That’s why we ended up at the shopping streets instead. This Kobe Beef restaurant is located at Sannomiyacho which is also a shopping street hahaha…

When you order, make sure it is printed as Kobe Beef in the menu(they have English menu), not the other beef on the menu. You might be tempted to order cheaper option but those will not be Kobe Beef. I almost ordered the cheaper option then realized it is not under the Kobe Beef category phew… We ordered the set that cost 7000yen. They have steak only which was around 3000-4000yen. In fact, this is good enough if you just want to eat meat.

Left: My first time eating beef shashimi. Interesting… No weird taste, just beef melt in your mouth…

Right: The most awaited main!!! Love it! I love my beef just lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled. They didn’t ask us how we want it to be cooked though. I don’t really mind as long that it is not rare or well-done. I’m sure they know what is best and I’m happy with this even though it looks rare than what I usually will eat, I didn’t mind, it’s not bad at all. With the heat from the hotplate, it will be cooked further too. Not a problem at all, it’s grilled to perfection! No taste of blood or anything. Just yummy, tender, juicy, melt in your mouth beef.

They served it on hotplate and they provided us with bibs to protect our clothes from oil splatters from the hotplate.

This is the set. The sashimi was served first which is not in this photo but it’s in the photo above this photo while the dessert is below this photo.

So, you know why I said you just need to order the steak instead of the set. I personally just need the meat, I don’t need the salad, the rice, the soup, and the dessert. It was a bit too much for us. We ordered one set each, regretted a bit because we could have save about 2000yen if we ordered just the meat but it’s OK, still a satisfying meal. If you plan to go, just skip the set, doesn’t matter which shop, you don’t need the set.

Left: Since we ordered a set, that means we had dessert to end the meal. The ice cream were yuzu and green tea flavours. They tasted quite nice.

Right: If you are not sure whether the place serve real Kobe beef, here’s how you can make sure you are getting the real deal. The bronze plaque displayed in the store means that it is appointed by the Kobe Meat Logistics Promotion Consociation. When you order, make sure it’s listed under the Kobe Beef section in the menu.

Before I end the post, here’s the travel vlog, see Kobe beef in action hahaha…

Happy 2020 in advance! Gosh… My expectations on my future beef steak is gonna be hard to please… Oh no…
