Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 11

Posted on February 14, 2011September 12, 2013 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 11

Continue from previous post about food we had on our last night in Singapore.

Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped by MOS Burger to try out one of the burgers.

Left: Hokkaido Milk Ice Cream (SGD2.75, this price was only valid with ordering of set). Ordered matcha flavour. Taste, it tasted as it should.

Right: Green Salad (SGD2.20).

Grilled Chicken Burger with Orange-Pepper Sauce (SGD3.35). Saw the advert on TV a lot. Finally got the chance to try it. Aiks… The size was so mini. Felt cheated by the advertisement ;p For this burger, the taste wasn’t up to my expectation. It’s a let down for me.

After resting in the hotel room and eating those food we had bought on the way back, we went out again. This time to the food court at Bugis Junction, Food Junction. The place was always packed. Went there few times(2 years ago no place to sit too, then first day in Singapore also no place to sit too) but could not find a place. Walked few rounds and finally found a place.

Ordered Buddha Jumps over the Wall, don’t remember the price. According to my dad, the taste was totally different compared to the time he was there. Only about 2 weeks later, the taste changed -.-” The one we had that night tasted like there’s salted fish in the soup.

After that, we stopped by Toast @ Work for chui kueh. Not the kind that we like especially the toppings but the kueh itself wasn’t that bad.

Last time, Kuching used to have very good one which could be found at Sunday Market but the lady no longer doing the business and her daughter could not master her skill, it’s gone totally. So there’s no more decent chui kueh anymore. Nowadays, mostly it’s not watery and silky enough. The toppings also could make or break this kueh.

Next, we went around window shopping in Bugis Junction. Before heading back to the hotel, we bought a cup of gelato (SGD4.50) at Gelateria Venezia. The yellow one was butterscotch(buttery sweet) and the pink one was raspberry(sourish). These two were not a good combination, made wrong decision *LOL* Could not taste both of them properly because of the combination.

That’s all for our day 3. Welcoming 2011 in the hotel room packing, watching TV and online. My parents and bro were asleep. I was the only one stayed up but called it a night before 12.30am because had to wake up early to go to the airport.

Tarot Salmon Japanese Restaurant

Posted on February 12, 2011February 13, 2011 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Tarot Salmon Japanese Restaurant

Few days ago, my cousin treated us for a dinner at Tarot Salmon Japanese Restaurant. It’s my first time there even though its opened for business for quite a long time already. I seldom dine out now because of money issue hahaha…

There were 5 of us, we ordered green tea. It’s free flow. RM7.50 for 5 persons.

Left: Yaki Udon(RM9.90), it’s too sweet for my liking.
Right: Agedashi Taufu(RM6.90), not bad but a bit too sweet and salty for me.

I was having stuffy nose and blocked ears. My taste buds weren’t very receptive these days but the two food we had were so flavourful to me. This means the flavours were much stronger than what I had tasted. Well… Maybe it’s just me as I’m not the kind that like heavily seasoned food.

Left: Unagi Sushi(RM5.90), Tako sushi(RM5.90), Ebiko Inari(RM5.90), Chuka Hotate Gunkan(RM4.90), Chuka Kurage Gunkan(RM4.90), Unagi Special Maki-8 pieces(RM19.90).

Right: Sashimi Mori Toro(RM26.90). No salmon available that day. There’s supposed to be salmon for this dish but due to that, no salmon. There should be 14 slices of sashimi but we only had 13 slices. We complained, they made it up by offering a side dish free of charge. Forgot to take photo of the dish, it’s baby octopus.

Anyway, I put a bit too high expectation on the place. Personally I think there’s better place for Japanese food.

Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 10

Posted on February 8, 2011September 12, 2013 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 10

I’m having headache because of my stuffy nose -.-” Just a quick short update about the some of food we had on the last night in Singapore.

These were bought at Bugis Junction. This section can be reached from the MRT station. I’m not sure what this section is called but it’s easily located. Just use the escalator to go up from the MRT station.

Bread Papa Sweets. It’s just cream puff, filled with lots and lots of cream. I forgot what I bought, I think it’s vanilla, don’t remember how much.

Chewy Junior, another type of cream puff. I bought a box of 6 which cost SGD8. Had these for dinner and next day breakfast ;p Thanks to the fridge in the hotel room.

Takoyaki stall.

Not that nice. We bought the one with octopus.

There’s more, these are just some… Will update in next post.

4th Day of CNY 2011

Posted on February 6, 2011February 8, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on 4th Day of CNY 2011

It’s the 4th day already! It’s going back to work day tomorrow for some. Including me… Oh well… Have work appointment so what to do?

Strangely I don’t blog much about CNY this year. Simple, It’s not as happening as it used to. This post is enough to summarize these 5 days…

CNY’s eve, painted my toenails red and added some nail stickers on it. First time painted my toenails red ;p All thanks to my sis who is back for CNY this year, it’s been 5 years I think… Lost track. She has red nail polish so I used it. I found myself liking this red toenails more and more hahaha… I didn’t shop for shoes this year. The shoes I’m wearing was bought in 2009. As for clothes, my sister did the shopping for me ;p Whatever she bought, those she couldn’t wear, it would be mine. I only bought two sleeveless t-shirts and a clincher online.

Fireworks war(illegal but who cares?) around the neighbourhood welcoming the rabbit year but it was short lived because of the rain. However, once the rain stopped, they started again. Then again, it’s pretty quiet this year at least for my area. It’s not as crazy as it used to be. Even these few nights were not that noisy, just random ones.

Left: Rabbit cookies we ordered for my sis hahaha… She’s born in the year of rabbit.

Right: Cake form my cousin, used to have Secret Recipe’s but not this year.

Day 1: Woke up at around 10am. It was a gloomy and wet day. Went over to my friend’s house in the afternoon as usual… That’s what I did on the first day all these years LOL. Only one house and that’s it. No one came over, the usual ones are no longer in Kuching. Quiet day…

Day 2: I’m sick! I felt so weak, nose was runny. Stayed home whole day, watched series online and watched TV. Nothing much, no one came. Went to bed earlier than usual.

Day 3: Woke up at 10am+, felt slightly better. My friend said that he’s coming over at around 11am! =.= I only got out of the shower at 11am hahaha… When he came, my hair was still wet, no makeup on. So… He waited for me while helping himself with the newspapers on the table. After that, we headed out to visit our friends. Everyone wasn’t home. Only went to one house and went back to his place to wait for the others to come since they’re out and about instead of us visiting them. We didn’t have any plan this year for group visiting. It was all impromptu. Whatever, I was pretty sluggish because of the flu. It’s not me driving anyway. Met quite a number of friends from college but not as many as it used to.

In fact, I had some plans to visit some friends but I was sick and I still am. So I scraped the idea. I don’t want my virus to spread to the babies -.-” Talking about babies, damn… Our topic yesterday at the second house we went was all about hitting 30! Also, shooting each other with “when is your turn??” even though we all know it’s still very far fetch ;p Gosh! 30 and achieving nothing much when many of our friends are already few levels ahead of us(singles/not married and struggling to find our path in lives, only us got the time to meet up during CNY, the so called not-settling-down-group ;p). The already-settled-down-group were just too busy with their own lives and it’s hard to hang out like we used to. Life…

Day 4: Here I am… Sitting at home doing nothing hahaha… Thought of tomorrow, I dread it… So lazy ;p Luckily I’m my own boss.

That’s all about my CNY this year. There’s still one week plus to go, will there be any surprise by then. I don’t know… Not putting any hope at all. Some stuffs just didn’t go as I had planned and hoped. I don’t know what to expect, time will tell. Life still goes on even though kind of dreading the reality but what to do? It’s just parts and parcels of our lives. We can just hope and do our best.

All I know is that I need to get some matters settle before I embark on the next adventure. Some might know about it, some don’t. Whatever it is, I’m likely won’t be celebrating my CNY here next year. We’ll see how by then. Just goes as the flow.

Wishing all of your a happy and smooth sailing year ahead!

Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 9

Posted on February 4, 2011September 12, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Singapore Trip 29/12/2010-1/1/2011 – Part 9

After visiting Marina Bay Sands, we went back to Bugis and had our lunch at Alex Eating House. It’s located at Beach Road in Bugis. I’m not sure about the direction to get there, was quite blur, I didn’t even know where they were heading to, I just followed. I only knew that we’re going for lunch ;p

The place is a coffee shop, famous for its roasted duck. When you’re there, definitely you’ll order the duck dish. I don’t quite remember the taste, I think it was pretty salty. Anyway, I won’t say it’s the best roasted duck, I had better ones back home. Just not my type.

Left: Roasted Duck and Char Siew Rice (SGD4).

Right: Char Siew Wan Ton Noodle (SGD4).

Left: Roasted Duck Noodle (SGD4).

Right: The condiments for you to choose.

Price wise, I think it’s pretty reasonable for Singapore standard. Portion wasn’t bad but there’s really nothing to rave about the taste.

After lunch, we went back to the hotel for a rest. Then, we headed to Tampines to pay a visit to IKEA.

You can get free shuttle bus to IKEA in Tampines daily. We waited for almost an hour for the bus! The queue was crazily long because the bus also went to Giant and Courts. When the bus arrived, we tried to squeeze ourselves into the small bus. It was sardine packed! Can’t even move an inch!

Just some photos of the place. I did not dare to take my camera out to take photos of the place. That’s all I have. So… That’s how IKEA looks like *LOL*

Hungry? They have food in IKEA too. We didn’t eat here, we directly headed to the bus stop to wait for the free shuttle to send us back to the MRT station. We wanted to beat the countdown crowd.

Day 3 not finish yet… Still have ;p
