Try Something Different at Nando’s #CubaStyleBaru

Posted on September 4, 2019August 20, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on Try Something Different at Nando’s #CubaStyleBaru

Nando’s is famous for their PERi-PERi chicken. Every single time when I’m there, I would order PERi-PERi chicken with sides. I don’t think I ever order anything else. I guess that’s what most people would do too. This time, I’m going to share with you the various styles of how PERi-PERi chicken can be served in Nando’s.

Left: Saucy Chicken Bowl (RM15.90) is great if you want something comforting, you can consider having this. The chicken meat is served in a bowl loaded with tomato and PERi-PERi sauce(you can choose your favourite flavour of the PERi-PERi sauce). You can have it with either Portuguese bread or Mediterranean Rice.

Right: The Cataplana Orginale (RM29.90) is a rice-filled showstopper on its own, great for sharing. It is served in an authentic copper dish with PERi-PERi chicken, grilled vegetables, Mediterranean Rice and special Cataplana Sauce.

Left: This is the usual 1/4 flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken with 2 sides (RM22.90). Need me to say more? We all know this very well.

Right: If you are looking for something without meat or as a starter, you can order Caesar Salad (RM16.30), it can be very filling for small eater to have this alone.

Left: If you don’t want the usual 1/4 flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken because it’s too big or just like chicken wings, you can order 4 Wingettes and Drumettes at RM11.90.

Right: The new PERi-PERi Cheesy Chips (RM11.90) is very flavourful and addictive. The chips are topped with tomato and corn and smothered in unique PERi-PERi cheese sauce.

This is another new addition to the menu. Crispy Cheese Burger, Pita or Wrap priced at RM19.90. The crispy cheese is really nice. The burger, pita or wrap is filled with PERi-PERi flavoured chicken/veggie patty with a bit of fresh salad and crispy cheese. The crispy texture and the taste of the cheese with succulent chicken/veggie patty is quite unique.

Left: Espetada (RM36.90 with 1 side) has been around for ages but many people didn’t know about it. You can try this next time instead of the usual chicken. The succulent cubes of chicken thigh are sandwiched between roasted capsicum and lathered in your choice of PERi-PERi flavour.

Right: Chicken Salsa Bowl (RM15.90) is great for rice lovers. The juicy chicken tenders and a unique mix of salsa filled the top of the Mediterranean Rice.

There’s always space for desserts! The Caramel Cheesecake and Red Velvet Cake are definitely something to look forward to. Each slice is priced at RM11.90.

Lastly, don’t forget about the drinks. Aside from the Bottomless Soft Drinks (RM7.50), you can go for something different, Nando’s Designer Drinks at RM10.90. There’s Mango Fresca, Sparkling Apple, Citrus Iced Tea, and Tropical Fruitea.

Next time, #CubaStyleBaru ok?

[Day 3 – Saturday, 27th July 2019]

  • Visited Cameron Lavender Garden(59, Brinchang, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang). Spent 1 hour 15 minutes there.
  • Then, it rained. We had to go to Cameron Square for lunch instead as we’re traveling with a toddler and a baby.
  • Lunch at Xin Teh Bak Kut Teh(Lot G-18(B), Cameron Square, Jalan Aranda Nova,Greencow, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang).
  • Then bought a Cendol cheesecake from Strawberry Cottage(Lot G-13, Cameron Square, Brinchang, 39100 Cameron Highlands, Pahang). It was awesome! Tasted great, beyond our expectations.
  • Went to MR AISU Ice Cream Cafe(C-G-29, Barrington Square, Jalan Golden Hills 1, Taman Cameron Golden Hills, 39000, Pahang), only opens on Friday and Saturday. Another outlet(No. 5, Gerai Berhampiran Pasar, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang) opens daily except Wednesday.

  • Drove back to Ipoh.
  • Check-in Prima Condominium Ipoh.

[Day 5 – Monday, 29th July 2019]

  • Check- out Prima Condominium Ipoh.
  • Go to Concubine Lane for snack. The place is hard to find parking, we ended up parking at a private car park where we were charged RM5 for 2 hours. Do go there on weekdays before 11am to avoid the afternoon sun which can be very hot and also avoid the crowd. The earlier you arrive, the better chance for you to secure a parking. It took us quite awhile to look for parking.
  • Ding Feng Tau Fu Fa aka Concubine Lane made up of 3 streets but we only went to 2 because there’s really nothing much, the most happening is at is the Concubine Lane aka Lorong Panglima. Wife Lane and Second Concubine Lane has some wall paintings and decorations for photo opportunities and without the crowd.
  • We took a break at Cups & Cubes Cafe(No 10, Jalan Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Perak) for Assam Laksa, just to try it out.
  • Then we moved to Concubine Lane Tau Fu Fa(8, Jalan Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Negeri Perak) for Teocher Tau Fu Fa. Not bad! Not expensive too.
  • We then walked to Market Lane aka the Second Concubine Lane for a quick photo. We didn’t go to Wife Lane.
Went to Chooi Yue Dim Sum(2, 4 & 6, Tingkat Taman Ipoh 12, Taman Ipoh Selatan, 31400 Ipoh, Negeri Perak) for dim sum lunch.
  • Before heading back to Penang, we went to hunt for some durians. After the durian feast, we continued our journey to Penang.
  • Stopped by Xing Fu Tang Bukit Mertajam(13, Jalan Juru, Sentral, Juru Sentral14000 Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang) for milk tea break.
  • Continued driving to 77 Bali Bali Cafe(Sungai Dua, Penang) for dinner.
  • Check in Econtel Queensbay(64, Persiaran Bayan Indah, Bayan Bay11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang). OMG! It’s just opposite a music lounge. If you need to sleep, you really don’t want to stay here. The music and singing was loud till you could feel the vibration in the room. You thought you were inside the lounge -.-” music didn’t stop until after 1am.

[Day 6 – Tuesday, 30th July 2019]

  • Check-out Econtel Queensbay.
  • Brunch at HK Boy Cart Noodle(Unit 73-1-1, Ideal@The One, Jalan Mahsuri, 11950 Bayan Lepas, Penang).
  • Off to IKEA(752, Persiaran Cassia Selatan 8, 14110, Lebuhraya Bandar Cassia, Penang) we went. Did some shopping spree here *LOL* I didn’t buy anything until for the past 5 days because there’s really nothing that fancied me.
  • Before heading to the airport, we went to Design Village Outlet Mall(733, Jalan Cassia Barat 2, Bandar Cassia, 14110, Penang). Bought nothing because it’s all too expensive because was comparing it to the UK ;p
  • Headed to Penang International Airport for McD dinner and to go back to Kuching with Air Asia, AK5436, departed at around 18:30.

Welcome back to Kuching, Sarawak.

I hope you will find this post useful in helping you to decide where to go when you’re in Penang, Ipoh, and Cameron Highlands. We didn’t go to many places because we have a baby and a toddler with us. It was also raining at Cameron Highlands.

Next trip… Maybe Sabah. Might just look around for pakej percutian ke sabah. That would save me all the troubles in planning for the trip *LOL*

It’s Not Just About Jamaica Blue Signature Blend & Blue Mountain Coffees Only

Posted on August 26, 2019September 4, 2019 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on It’s Not Just About Jamaica Blue Signature Blend & Blue Mountain Coffees Only

Did you know that Jamaica Blue Coffee has opened its door at CityONE Megamall, Kuching?

Jamaica Blue is not just about Jamaica Blue Signature Blend & Blue Mountain Coffees Only. If you are not into coffee or can’t take coffee just like me, there’s many non-caffeinated drinks available in the menu, not to forget a large selection of freshly prepared food too!

They recently launched a new menu called Escape & Refresh. They had added new food items such as Let’s Taco ‘Bout Fish, Jamaican Beef Patty, BBQ Jerk Chicken Wings, Asian Chicken Omelette, Sweet & Sour Chicken Wings, Jungali Chicken Wrap, Prawn Fettuccine, Mozzarella & Basil Stuffed Chicken, Soy Ginger Chicken with Rice, and Chicken Stuffed Avocado & Pistachio.

Was given the opportunity to try some of their food out. Going to share what I had when I was there:

Left: Breakfast Potato Hash with Mushroom & Tomato (RM18.40), a wholesome breakfast dish that consists of soft poached eggs, homemade potato cake, roasted tomato and sauteed mushrooms. Hmm… I think the tomato wasn’t roasted but I’m fine with it because I like both roasted and fresh tomato.

Right: Pasta Boscaiola (RM22.50) which we thought was Carbonara *LOL*. Apparently it’s not. It felt like the lighter version of Carbonara. You can opt for this if you don’t like the thick cream of Carbonara. The pasta consists of turkey slice, shallots in garlic cream sauce. If you are not fond of garlic, don’t worry, the taste of garlic wasn’t overpowering (I didn’t taste it) so it was agreeable with me because I don’t like garlic hahaha…

Left: BBQ Jerk Chicken Wings (RM17.90) is nicely baked and coated with sticky Jamaican BBQ sauce served with BBQ aioli.

Right: Jamaican Beef Patty (I forgot to find out about the price *LOL*) is made with crispy pastry filled with jerk pulled beef, mushrooms & beans.

Left: After a hearty meal, there’s always room for dessert, this is Sticky Date Pudding (I forgot about the price again!Hahaha!).

Right: If you can’t have enough at Jamaica Blue, you can bring them home and make a cuppa for yourself at the comfort of your home.

Aside from CityOne, Jamaica Blue has other outlets at the following places:
Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.
Setia City Mall, Setia Alam, Selangor.
Melawati Mall, Pusat Bandar Melawati, Kuala Lumpur.
Seremban Gateway, Seremban.
The Robertson, Kuala Lumpur
Vibrant Café, TNB HQ Bangsar
Eco Avenue, Muar, Johor
Avisena Women’s & Children’s Specialist Hospital
