[Day 1 – Thursday, 25th July 2019]

  • Kuching to Penang with Air Asia AK5437, departed at around 22:30.

[Day 3 – Saturday, 27th July 2019]

  • We brought our own breakfast to Cameron Highlands.
  • Visited Cameron Lavender Garden(59, Brinchang, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang). Spent 1 hour 15 minutes there.
  • Then, it rained. We had to go to Cameron Square for lunch instead as we’re traveling with a toddler and a baby.
  • Lunch at Xin Teh Bak Kut Teh(Lot G-18(B), Cameron Square, Jalan Aranda Nova,Greencow, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang).
  • Then bought a Cendol cheesecake from Strawberry Cottage(Lot G-13, Cameron Square, Brinchang, 39100 Cameron Highlands, Pahang). It was awesome! Tasted great, beyond our expectations.
  • Went to MR AISU Ice Cream Cafe(C-G-29, Barrington Square, Jalan Golden Hills 1, Taman Cameron Golden Hills, 39000, Pahang), only opens on Friday and Saturday. Another outlet(No. 5, Gerai Berhampiran Pasar, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang) opens daily except Wednesday.

[Day 4 – Sunday, 28th July 2019]

  • Brunch at Restoran You De Chi (can’t find the address in Google hmm…), same row as Harmony Inn(No 10a, Jalan Angsana 3, Brinchang, 39100 Brinchang, Pahang).
  • Drove back to Ipoh.
  • Check-in Prima Condominium Ipoh.
  • Dinner at an unknown Chinese restaurant in Ipoh ;p Was tired and was busy entertaining a toddler hahaha… So I didn’t bother to take much photos or video.

[Day 5 – Monday, 29th July 2019]

  • Check- out Prima Condominium Ipoh.
  • Go to Concubine Lane for snack. The place is hard to find parking, we ended up parking at a private car park where we were charged RM5 for 2 hours. Do go there on weekdays before 11am to avoid the afternoon sun which can be very hot and also avoid the crowd. The earlier you arrive, the better chance for you to secure a parking. It took us quite awhile to look for parking.
  • Ding Feng Tau Fu Fa aka Concubine Lane made up of 3 streets but we only went to 2 because there’s really nothing much, the most happening is at is the Concubine Lane aka Lorong Panglima. Wife Lane and Second Concubine Lane has some wall paintings and decorations for photo opportunities and without the crowd.
  • We took a break at Cups & Cubes Cafe(No 10, Jalan Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Perak) for Assam Laksa, just to try it out.
  • Then we moved to Concubine Lane Tau Fu Fa(8, Jalan Panglima, 30000 Ipoh, Negeri Perak) for Teocher Tau Fu Fa. Not bad! Not expensive too.
  • We then walked to Market Lane aka the Second Concubine Lane for a quick photo. We didn’t go to Wife Lane.
Went to Chooi Yue Dim Sum(2, 4 & 6, Tingkat Taman Ipoh 12, Taman Ipoh Selatan, 31400 Ipoh, Negeri Perak) for dim sum lunch.
  • Before heading back to Penang, we went to hunt for some durians. After the durian feast, we continued our journey to Penang.
  • Stopped by Xing Fu Tang Bukit Mertajam(13, Jalan Juru, Sentral, Juru Sentral14000 Bukit Mertajam, Pulau Pinang) for milk tea break.
  • Continued driving to 77 Bali Bali Cafe(Sungai Dua, Penang) for dinner.
  • Check in Econtel Queensbay(64, Persiaran Bayan Indah, Bayan Bay11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang). OMG! It’s just opposite a music lounge. If you need to sleep, you really don’t want to stay here. The music and singing was loud till you could feel the vibration in the room. You thought you were inside the lounge -.-” music didn’t stop until after 1am.

[Day 6 – Tuesday, 30th July 2019]

  • Check-out Econtel Queensbay.
  • Brunch at HK Boy Cart Noodle(Unit 73-1-1, Ideal@The One, Jalan Mahsuri, 11950 Bayan Lepas, Penang).
  • Off to IKEA(752, Persiaran Cassia Selatan 8, 14110, Lebuhraya Bandar Cassia, Penang) we went. Did some shopping spree here *LOL* I didn’t buy anything until for the past 5 days because there’s really nothing that fancied me.
  • Before heading to the airport, we went to Design Village Outlet Mall(733, Jalan Cassia Barat 2, Bandar Cassia, 14110, Penang). Bought nothing because it’s all too expensive because was comparing it to the UK ;p
  • Headed to Penang International Airport for McD dinner and to go back to Kuching with Air Asia, AK5436, departed at around 18:30.

Welcome back to Kuching, Sarawak.

I hope you will find this post useful in helping you to decide where to go when you’re in Penang, Ipoh, and Cameron Highlands. We didn’t go to many places because we have a baby and a toddler with us. It was also raining at Cameron Highlands.

Next trip… Maybe Sabah. Might just look around for pakej percutian ke sabah. That would save me all the troubles in planning for the trip *LOL*

Wonderfood Museum, Penang

Posted on April 28, 2018May 4, 2018 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Wonderfood Museum, Penang

Food! Who doesn’t love food? I personally really like things related to food. When I found out there’s a food museum in Penang, I decided to pay a visit to it.

Located at 49, Lebuh Pantai, George Town, 10200 George Town, Pulau Pinang. Entrance ticket is RM15/adult. You can get the ticket by clicking on this link.

Did you know that the food replicas found in The Borneo House Museum is also handcrafted by the same person who is from this museum?

The miniatures are so real! Very meticulously created! The actual size is smaller than what you see in the photo. I used macro mode for this.

The food replicas are amazing! Looked so real that many thought that the photo on the right, showcasing the Chinese New Year reunion dinner food are real when I posted it on my Instagram. People thought that I’m having these for my reunion dinner hahaha!! It’s such a grand affair but too bad it’s not my dinner.

If our food is colourful VS if our food is black & white. Mind you, the latter is not edited or using any camera filter, it is really black & white.

Spoilt food VS flying food.

This is where you can see giant replica of local food. Man… I just couldn’t take my eyes of all the food on display in this museum. While writing this, my stomach is grumbling…

These are just some of the giant replicas on display, you have to come here to see for yourself…

Aside from that, there are so much more to see. Can you see what is the photo on the left trying to portray? It’s using various food and cutlery to replicate the famous Mona Lisa drawing. Giant durian, mangosteen, and roti canai can also be found there.

There are many photo opportunities in the museum. Just have fun! It’s very educational as well because you can learn about various nutritional values and some facts about the food we eat.

Not only that, they also try to create awareness and educate the visitors of issues surrounding our lives related to food.

What you see here is just a tip of the iceberg. I highly recommend this place if you are to visit Penang. I could easily spend two hours in this museum admiring the replicas. Have a yummilicious visit!

Hot Bowl White Curry Mee

Posted on March 27, 2018March 27, 2018 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Hot Bowl White Curry Mee

Been to Penang so many times and guess what… It’s my first time having their white curry mee. We went to Hot Bowl White Curry Mee located at 58-C, Jalan Rangoon, 10400 Penang. Their off day is on Monday.

White curry mee is indeed white. Main ingredient of the broth is sweet and savoury coconut milk.

I forgot to take photo of the chili paste. There’s a container of chili paste for you to add into the broth. You can adjust the spiciness based on how spicy you can tolerate. Don’t be too generous, start little and build it up. I added very little(just few drops) and it was so spicy, if you cannot take the heat, I guess you’ll have to forego the chili paste. However, the ommph will not be there because the chili paste really level up the taste of the broth. If I did not have a cough that time, I would have added more.

The special thing about this curry mee is that you can find coagulated duck blood as one of the ingredients. Tofu puffs, prawns, cuttlefish, cockles, a mix of vermicelli and yellow noodles made up the rest of this dish. Small bowl is priced at RM5.90 while the big bowl is RM6.90.

Truth to be told, I prefer this than Penang Laksa and Har Mee.

Aside from white curry mee, we also ordered other dishes, Meatball Soup and Ipoh Hor Fun with Boneless Steamed Chicken.

Do try this dish out when you are in Penang. This is just one of the places that served this dish. I believe you can find it easily around Penang.

Thai Pak Koong, Tanjong Tokong, Penang

Posted on March 12, 2018March 13, 2018 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Thai Pak Koong, Tanjong Tokong, Penang

Let’s visit another new tourist spot in Penang located at Tanjong Tokong. The temple is the oldest and most important temple in Penang. It’s been around for decades.

Many domestic and foreign tourists like to have their photos taken here. It’s popular among the lovebirds. All these sculptures are located at the beach area.

When night falls, the Avatar Secret Garden will light up with lights of many colours. You’ll need to do a little bit of stair climbing to view the beauty of the lights.

Aside from that, you can enjoy seafood at Pearl Garden Cafe located just next to the temple. The place was so packed when we were there over the weekend, best to make reservation. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait for a table. You must order the prawn and crab when you dine there, you have no choice to say no. The prawn and crab are cooked with the most simplest method, grilled over charcoal and seasoned with salt. There are stalls around the area which you can order from but the prerequisite to dine-in is to order from the Pearl Garden Cafe. Was too hungry and forgot to take photo of the food.

Just a heads up, the road leading to this temple is quite narrow. Oh ya… Need to pay for parking your car at the compound.

Entopia by Butterfly Farm Penang

Posted on February 27, 2018May 4, 2018 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Entopia by Butterfly Farm Penang

It used to be known as butterfly farm, now known as Entopia.

Been to Penang few times before its renovation but never been there. Renovation was completed in 2015. Had an opportunity to visit Penang last month, we decided to go to Entopia for a visit.

First impression was WOW! Modern, well-maintained, and it does not feel like you’re in a tourism attraction in Malaysia.

A fun and educational place for family and even as a lone traveler. Get in touch with nature, seeing them close-up without going through the rugged paths. It’s awesome!

Opens Daily
9:00am – 7:00pm
(including weekends & public holidays)
*Last ticket sale and entry is at 5:30pm.

Entrance fee is reasonable. RM49/adult with MyKad, children and senior citizens with Mykad is RM20/pax; foreigner will be RM65/adult, children and senior citizens is RM45/pax.
Psst… Get discount here, only RM40 for Malaysian and RM53 for Foreigner.

There is so many sections and so much to see and learn.

I’ll just let the photos do the talking.

What you see here are not all, there’s more.

You’ll have to be there yourself to see it for yourself.

It is quite humid and hot there but after walking around, you’ll be led into air-conditioned exhibition area.

Many activities that children can participate when they visit the place.

Not just butterflies, there’s a lot of creatures such as frogs, spiders, scorpions, earth worms, cockroaches, beetles, snakes, insects, and more.

Learnt a lot from here. It’s fun to taking photos of the creatures in this place. A must-go if you like nature but hate the rugged part of it and great for family too.

You can get more details from their official site entopia.com
