Kuching Festival 2006(2) – Photos

Posted on August 1, 2006January 7, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(2) – Photos

I’m done with the photos πŸ™‚ Lots of them, pretty much a bandwidth sucker too.

We were there from 6.30pm-11.30pm. Main aim was to help Alysha to take video and photos of her dance school’s performamce that night from 9pm-11pm however it dragged on till almost 11.30pm. I don’t have their dance photos yet. Will upload the photos of the food fair and trade fair first.

The garden show. Haven’t really explore it yet. There’s one fountain that was quite interesting, it has the sound of wind chime.

The surrounding of the fair. It’s only about 6.30pm something but it’s already hard enough to find parking and find a place to sit for meal. This is weekday summore, weekend will be worst. Later at night it’s going to be quite packed.

Some stalls. This year they have Japanese(one of them is Ten-Ichi), Korean(one and only Seoul Garden), Thai(Some of them are Bangkok Thai, Mangotree, Pandan Thai Delight), Philippines, Vietnamese(Lemon Grass), Taiwanese, China etc. cuisines.

Some local stalls.

Something different, first time I see but I don’t know what was that, it’s not your typical roti canai. I heard that they had it last year but I’m not sure πŸ˜›

Some booths outside.

Booth that sells Korea products. Hehehhe… see the right picture… I didn’t know what was it at first and stared at it for so long then I realised it’s condom!!! CONDOM ALL THE WAY FROM KOREA!! Goodness… the packagings are so cute, I thought it’s some chewing gum or oil blotter or some other stuff LOL…

The trade fair inside the hall.

Left: Me while recording *BLEK* Behind the scene of the video
Right: Balloons!!!

Hmm… I’m not sure will there be more to come or not for my update. Sigh… Went to collect my camera today and it’s not repaired! They said that there wasn’t any no problem… Sigh… I even talked to the technician from KL thru’ the phone at Canon and spent almost 1 hour there! After some arguments from me, he kept saying that there’s no problem at all. However, at the end, he asked me to take pictures with it and send the pictures over for them to assess the problem… DARN!! It’s so damn obvious and so direct but he just didn’t get it! STUPID! TELL ME! Those of you with digital camera, what happen when you switch your camera’s mode to MACRO MODE? Can you see the changes in the LCD? The changes are obvious right? Something in the camera will adjust and produce a type of retracting sound right? It’s so basic, so simple yet it’s so hard to make him understand and even told me he tested the macro mode and no problem with it! SIGH…

Kuching Festival 2006(1) – Guess Who?

Posted on August 1, 2006January 7, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Kuching Festival 2006(1) – Guess Who?

*** Here’s a smaller size video for easy loading if you are fed up of waiting for the big file to load. It’s about 5MB —-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEbIBuYzypw

I have tonnes of photos to edit. It will take quite a while. Went to Kuching Festival Food Fair with Jimmy, Chung Nien and Wei last night. Guess what we did? Sorry for dial up user… This video file is big, at least 12MB. It’s a must watch!!! You’ll regret if you don’t! *EVIL GRIN*

By the way, it’s in Mandarin but not much talking. Sorry to those who don’t understand Mandarin. I’m not good in doing it in English. In was bad enough in Mandarin already, English would be worst. LOL… No preparations done, it’s all directed and planned right on the spot. Meanwhile, I’m going to edit all those photos taken last night.

KENWY MUSIC HOUSE – Musical Recital Night

Posted on July 22, 2006 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on KENWY MUSIC HOUSE – Musical Recital Night

Let’s get cultured! I’m not a musical person so ahahah… don’t expect much from me. I went there because I was invited by Jimmy and the tickets were given free by his friend. Why not? Free ticket and never attend one before. There were RM10, 20 and 50 tickets. It’s organized by Kenwy Music House and co-organized by Kuching Oriental Musical Group(I’m not sure about the correct name of this, I just translate it word by word :P, there’s no English name or anything for it and it’s all purely conducted in Mandarin). It’s held at Kenyalang Movie Theater.

Again… It’s all in Mandarin and I really don’t know how to translate. No scripts for me and all preformaces were in Mandarin. Can only briefly lead you tru’ with the pictures. The pictures weren’t in a good quality coz we were sitting quite far. We reached there at about 6pm++, it’s already packed, so hard to find parking place because at the same time, another programme would start at 8pm, it’s Gary Chaw’s concert at the community hall. Therefore, everyone went there early so that could secure a proper parking place.

Let’s start to get cultured. It’s a night of "Songs and Smiles"(direct translation again ;P)

Chinese traditional musical instruments orchestra (combination of the students both organisers) led by the owner of the the music house itself, Mr. Kenwy Ho. I really don’t know how to introduce this guy. He has a master in music and have quite a number of achievements under his belt in China. I tried to googled him but… not much of him, only briefly mentioned about him such as he’s one of the judges for a big scale singing competition and those common news stuffs. It’s in Chinese summore… Don’t have much of his profile. Hmmm… so… *SHRUG* He was CHMNO1 student. Then furthered his study in music at China. The music house only started operation for about 3 months and has quite a number of students already.

Then another recital led by another guy, I don’t’ know his name. πŸ˜› All I can remember is one of the recitals was "Lengang Kangkong", a reknown Malaysia old folks song.

Next… the choir of Kenwy Music House singing some Chinese oldies. After that, Lena or Lina(not so sure) Ballet Academy performed their dance, "Peter Pan". Kinda like it πŸ™‚ they were very graceful.

After the dance, (Left)a solo "er hu"(a chinese musical instrument) recital with support music from modern musical instrument.

(Right)All the children of Kenwy Music House presented us with their dances and their songs. There were all first timer on the stage but did a very good job.

There was a solo of the "master" itself. He sang an Italian song, Caro Mio Ben. Then his student from Hong Kong, a 10-year-old boy came all the way to Kuching to participate in his show by playing the "yang qun"(another Chinese musical instrument). This little boy is a musical genius and have won lots of awards.
However no picture for these, too blur.
Next, Kenwy led his students including the little boy performing the "yang qun"(above). Kenwy majored in this instrument while in uni.

After the orchestra, the students of Kenwy Music House sang lots of songs, one oldies and lots of current popular songs.

Right: Another Chinese musical instrument. A type of trumpet :P.

Solo performance of "yang qun" by Kenwy(left) and then he led his choir again. They sang two songs however after the first song was sang, as a pro, he wanted the best for his audiences because the sound system were out of tuned, he requested to resing the first song .

After the two songs, all other students came up to the stage too as the finale.

The show ended at around 9.45pm. Of course, a group picture is a must for thing like this. Here’s all the students, the teachers, the crews and Kenwy’s parents.

One bad part was that, the lightings hurts my eyes because the theater doesn’t have a high ceiling, so all those lights were shown into my eyes πŸ™ Other than that, it’s consider a great job for them. Keep it up!
