Melba’s Chocolate Factory

Posted on May 22, 2012May 23, 2012 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Melba’s Chocolate Factory

Last Saturday, I decided to message my friend asking what his gang would be doing. He told me they’ll be going to Hahndorf. I’ve been thinking of going there since April but don’t know who to ask to go with me. I really like the scenery there especially during autumn. So I thicken my face and asked whether they can pick me up or not ;p Finally I got to go! YAY!

We started our journey at 1.30pm. Before going to Hahndorf, we decided to do a bit of detour to visit Melba’s Chocolate Factory at Woodside since another group was still at the airport.

It took us quite awhile to locate the place, the signboard led us to somewhere with gravel road and we decided to turn back and drove straight. We stopped at a local bar to asked and they told us we should drive for about 15 minutes to reach there. We’re on the right way. Finally we’re here.

Lots of chocolates and candies. Sampled some of the confectionaries. Quite nice but we dodn’t buy any.

Left: Overview of the shop.
Right: Espresso from Malaysia! Can you believe it?

After this chocolate factory, we went over to next door for cheese tasting. Will post about it soon.

First 3D Movie in Adelaide – The Avengers

Posted on May 20, 2012May 20, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on First 3D Movie in Adelaide – The Avengers

It was a fun day yesterday and today. Went to many places these two days but will post about this first because there’s too many photos to share for 2-day day trip.

Went to my very first 3D movie in Adelaide at Greater Union Arndale. It was an impromptu decision after dinner. We watched the one at 9.20pm.

Let’s talk about the movie.

I heard many people said that the movie is great and I’ve been seeing my FB timeline fills with people praising it. As for me, it’s good. I do agree. How agree? Hahaha… I don’t know how to say, just good enough. ;p I’m not a movie person. However, for 3D, it’s really nothing to rave about, didn’t really have that great 3D effect at all. A bit disppointing in this area. Better watch the normal one will do. Better save that few dollars. One thing though, you need to watch the other individual movies of all those heroes to understand the rationale of each hero in this movie.

Watching movie here is expensive -.-” Luckily I have student discount. Still, it’s quite expensive. No seats were assigned to us so we got to choose anywhere we wanted to sit. There were not many people watching it too, with that huge cinema, there’s only a few of us. That’s good.

The movie ended at 11.59pm. Went straight home after that.

Graduated, Graduate Diploma

Posted on May 19, 2012May 21, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Graduated, Graduate Diploma

It’s a surprised that I’m actually graduated from graduate diploma and was invited to attend the ceremony in August. I didn’t expect it because I had changed my program to master. Cool! Now I have 2 certificates instead of one hahaha… I’m not going to join the ceremony though, will just join the one in December for my master degree.

Got a mail on Thursday from the uni and found my official result transcript for graduate diploma. So, I’m officially graduated from my first postgrad education ;p The second one will be this end of the year. Graduate twice in a year, never expect that hahaha…

Anyway, since I changed my program, means now I have to fork out another amount of money for my visa extension and health check. Damn… I hate going for health check.

Mekong Thai Restaurant

Posted on May 17, 2012May 17, 2012 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Mekong Thai Restaurant

Last Friday, had a mini gatheting with those who were with me in Busan for cultural exchange. Since the others were looking forward to have dinner, one of us suggested to go to Mekong Thai Restaurant at Hindley Street. I didn’t want to have any dinner because I just had my lunch at 3pm. So I just accompanied them. It’s lucky that I made that decision, or else I won’t be able to have dinner with another friend of mine.

Left: Sayur Kacang (AUD14.50), lightly steamed vegetables and tofu generously topped with our peanut satay sauce. It’s expensive and didn’t taste good, those vegetables only cost less than a dollar or so -.-” None of us like it. Even the rice and noodle were cheaper than this dish.

Right: Phad Thai (AUD11.90), Thai fried rice noodle with chicken, shrimp, eggs, tofu bean sprouts with or without fresh chilli. It’s spicy even for the Koreans. They ordered medium spicy. They said it tasted good.

Left: Seafood Nasi Goreng (AUD11.90), seafood, fried with rice, chilli, garlic, ginger, fresh herbs and sprouts. Absolutely different. It’s spicy according to someone who isn’t very good in eating spicy food but I’m not sure how spicy. It was good also.

Right: Those who were with me, I’m behind the camera *lol* Three Korean guys (only one is our program buddy, the other two were his friends) with one Vietnames girl, one Chinese girl, and one Malaysian girl. I’m the oldest of them all ;p

Overall, the price is a bit on the higher end. Food portion is rather small with the price. However, so many people said that it’s good. *SHRUG* I didn’t eat so I don’t know. Will I give this placea second chance? Well… Maybe provided I’m not the one paying.

Koreajung

Posted on May 12, 2012May 13, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Koreajung

Last night, I was surrounded by Koreans (things and people). We had a short meet up with one of our Korean buddy who comes here for exchange in our uni. Didn’t expect will see one of them here, most went to Brisbane and Melbourne. We took the opportunity to catch up and he brought along two of his Korean classmates. Refreshed my Korean language a bit, just a bit ;p.

Then, half way through the meeting, I got an invitation for Korean dinner from my “long lost” friend. Of course I agreed! I thought I will never hear from him again after what happened 2 months back. In fact, we managed to cooked dinner 3 nights ago at his place. Yummy! Also, it’s great to finally get to cook in a nice, clean, and spacious kitchen with gas stove instead of hotplate.

Anyway, we had problem choosing which Korean restaurant to go near my place. First, we went to check out Koreajung and found that they do serve kimchi jeon. Then, we decided to check out another Korean restaurant before deciding.

We went to the one near the uni and they did not serve kimchi jeon yet my friend’s main aim is to have that. He’s been talking about it since I got back from Korea. Ended up after quite a bit of discussion in this second restaurant after sitting down checking the menu, I told him we better go back to Koreajung at 13 Leigh Street which we checked out earlier on.

The food in Koreajung is quite expensive, the atmosphere suggested that too. Oh well, I’m not the one paying, I’m not complaining ;p

Left: Potato jeon, complimentary by the restaurant. I think I know how to make this, I once accidentally made pancake like this and tasted like this but not with potato *LOL* Anyway, nothing to rave about this. It’s on quite an oily side. There’s also a bottle of complimentary ice tea.

Right: The main reason we came back, kimchi jeon (AUD15). It came out really fast. Not bad, very yummy. It’s spicy but not too spicy. It’s fine with me. However, for those who have low level of spiciness tolerance, it would be rather spicy for them. It was good but AUD15, it’s pretty highly priced but what to expect? It’s located at this high end street.

Left: It took us quite awhile to decide on our meat dish and ended up with spicy fried pork with vegetables (AUD27). The vegetables were just red and green capsicums and lots of onion. Quite spicy, much spicier than the kimchi jeon. It’s sweet as well. Great to go with rice. Not to forget the side dishes that came with it. The steam rice cost AUD2/bowl.

Right: Me! Hahaha… Sitting next to the huge mirror. Can’t help it but camwhored. I forgot my camera, so all these were taken with my phone. I have no habit of bringing my camera out now, I know… It’s bad.

I’m a happy girl last night surrounded by food and friends.

Lastly, well… I personally won’t go back for the reason of the price and slightly smaller portion. Food taste wasn’t bad but not the best. I don’t mind if to go back again if I’m not the one paying ;p
