Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.3: Orchard

Posted on August 27, 2009August 27, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.3: Orchard

Finally we reached Orchard, our last destination of the day. First stop was ION Orchard. Another latest shopping mall in Singapore.

The view is spectacular at night but too bad didn’t have the chance to go out to take night shoot.

Was attracted by the display of one of the shops. Quickly stole a shoot of it. Isn’t it colourful?

There’s an art gallery also selling lots of artworks. Went in to have a look, really very artistics. You see the sweets in the photo? So cute!

We went out of the building to stroll around. As you can see here, this is the exterior of ION.

I love the architecture.

Besides that, we also camwhored in the toilet! The toilet is so clean and nice. I notice that we visited and take many photos of toilets in Singapore this trip, as if this is a trip to discover Singapore’s toilets ;p Can’t help it, they are all so clean and beautifully designed. I don’t even mind to stay long long in there ;p You definitely cannot find something like in Malaysia hahaha…

Other shopping complexes at Orchard, Tang(didn’t go) and Wisma Atria.

Lucky Plaza and Paragon, didn’t go too.

Old Chang Kee located just outside of Ngee Ann City. I was told that I cannot take photo of it by the aunty working there with a rather harsh voice. As if I care! I took tonnes of it already hahaha… I notice that people(public or shop workers or owners) kept looking at me as if never seen people taking food photos before or as if I want to steal their ideas and so on. I didn’t bother to ask for permission also because most of the time, definitely will get turn down. Aiks… I thought it should be very common nowadays summore in such big city with lots of tourist scouring the place. At least I don’t get such looks in Kuching, KL, and Penang.

So most of the time I just took a quick snap and keep my camera.

Anyway, we bought some snacks there total up to SG6.40. Can’t quite remember what we had, I think sotong on stick, sushi on stick and some balls. Was told that the puff is nice but not sure coz didn’t buy it.

One of my aims this trip is to try put Bread Papa Sweets after hearing so many good reviews of it. I saw it at Bugis earlier on but didn’t buy it coz was full from the breakfast we had at home. Then I found it in Ngee Ann City in the foodcourt. Was so excited and bought two types to try, the original cream puff with vanilla(SGD2.20) and the other one with limited time only filling called mango yogurt(SGD2.50 don’t remember the actual name, just remember “mango” and “yogurt” in the name ;p)

My comment? I always love cream puff. As for this, it’s just a bigger version. Nothing much to rave about really, it’s just cream puff, I like it but I just couldn’t find anything special to it. Convert back to Ringgit, it’s pretty expensive. All I can say is this is the most expensive cream puff I had in my life. Hahaha…

Thought of calling it at day after visiting the Sephora at Ngee Ann City but too bad they didn’t have offer there so decided to walked back to ION’s Sephora just to buy something interesting there hehehe… It’s actually one of the prizes for my contest winners, luckily my winners are all ladies ;p. Rest assure you can’t get it in Malaysia and you can only find it in Sephora in Singapore or online. Will reveal it other time. Hope you girls will like it even though it’s kinda impractical but I just couldn’t help buying it after seeing it.

That’s all for day 2.

Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.2: City Hall & On the Road

Posted on August 26, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.2: City Hall & On the Road

We walked to City Hall MRT station. Along the way, there were lots of shops greeted us. It’s really a good idea to have such concept. You don’t have to be tortured under the sun to walk to the MRT station and you get to window shop or even shop while on your way to and fro the station.

The station interlink various shopping complexes, it’s so convenient. Anyway, due to time constraint, we went straight to Raffles City Shopping Centre. Simply walked around then out we went. Saw this unique building outside among the skyscrapers, Capitol Building.

We walked towards Funan DigitaLife Mall from Raffles City.

Didn’t stay long to explore. My friend treated me a cup of soya bean milk.

The kiosk, Jolliebean, was where the soya bean milk(SGD1.80) was bought. The taste? It’s just soya bean milk *LOL*

After that, we went to my friend’s church to get his car.

This church(St Andrew’s Anglican Cathedral) is one of the tourist attractions in Singapore. The architecture is indeed unique. I’m sure if you get married here, the photos will turn out nice and fairy tale like hehehe… BUT… Not simply anyone can get married here, you have to fulfill their terms and conditions.

On the way to Orchard. Thanks for ride. Luckily there’s someone to send us there hehehe… Walked till legs painful already. Dread walking and taking MRT already.

View from the car.

I love to see such skyline but I don’t like to live my life in places like these. How contradicting. ;p

More views and can you spot how many couples were having their pre-wedding photo shoot there? Seems like a very popular location for wedding photo taking.

Some random building and into the tunnel we went.

Next up will be Orchard.

Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.1: Bugis & Suntec

Posted on August 25, 2009August 26, 2009 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 2(18/8/09): Part 2.1: Bugis & Suntec

First place we went was Bugis.

Came out fromt he MRT station and being greeted with cute and colourful interior design. It’s MRT for goodness sake! Didn’t feel it at all, you thought you are in some sort of shopping mall. Couldn’t help it, we even camwhored outside the toilet ;p

Came out of the MRT station and this is Hylam Street, part of Bugis Junction.

Took a peek at the food court there and left. Was not hungry at all because was fully fed during breakfast -.-” All the heavy breakfasts in the morning were making us no mood at all to try other food during our stay there.

Next, we headed to Bugis Street, the largest street shopping location in Singapore. Walked walked walked and then we reached Albert Mall at Waterloo Street. You can find many Chinese medicine shops and also shops selling worshiping stuffs there.

The famous temples, Chinese(Kuan Im Tong) and Hindu(Sri Krishnan Temple) temples located side by side. If not mistaken, the Chinese temple is very popular. The fortune telling is very accurate but hehehe… I didn’t try it. I don’t “play” such thing.

Many stalls selling various products from food to clothing.

Iluma, one of the latest shopping complex in Singapore is just around the corner. The night view is spectacular but too bad, no chance to come here at night.

After Bugis, we walked to Suntec *LOL* Could see the building from Bugis, so we decided to walk. Luckily we didn’t get lost. Good thing the building is very tall so it’s easy to locate.

While waiting for my friend to meet us at Suntec, we had a late lunch at Pastamania. Ordered Chicken Ananas(SGD11.50 for 7 inch), Very expensive and it’s disappointing, I had better thin crust pizza back home and even from Pizza Hut. This is the most expensive food we had, small protion summore -.-”

Then, my friend came and he treated us to some desserts inside the food court of Suntec, it’s called the Food Republic if I’m not mistaken. We had Aloe Vera Longan Ice(SGD2.50), Cheng Tng(SGD1.80), and another is Cheng Tng Ice(if not mistaken, no idea how much).

After that, we walked towards the MRT at the same time stop by some places in Suntec along the way.

The Fountain of Wealth is the main attraction of Suntec. Camwhored there too for sure but it was so bright that I had problem opening my eyes. It’s my second time here but first time didn’t play with it.

Done with fountain, bought Aunty Anne’s pretzel but I didn’t eat. Actually it’s my friend’s treat. While on the way, we stopped by the Koi Garden. Many big and fat kois there hahaha… Didn’t manage to take proper picture of it.

That’s all for now. City Hall and Orchard will be next.

Singapore Trip: Day 1(17/8/09): Part 1: The Flight

Posted on August 23, 2009August 24, 2009 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 1(17/8/09): Part 1: The Flight

Off to the airport at 3pm+, it was raining.

Checked in our luggage and waited at the departure hall. The flight wasn’t very packed but there were some passengers that were really pain in the ass. Tiger Airways is indeed very budget, so budget that some very “civilized” people can afford to fly. However most of the time, it’s still more expensive than Air Asia. These people should be banned from any flight, they were really pain in the ass and jeopardized others’ safety.

Although I do not fly a lot, from my experiences with MAS and Air Asia, both passengers were quite civilized but this is my first time encounter so many “civilized” people in a flight. I really pitied the flight crews. People used to say that, Air Asia can offer very cheap flight, it means anybody can fly so there will surely be many no or low class passengers, if you know what I mean.

However, Tiger really proves this point to me. From the start of the flight to the end of the flight, there’re so many problematic and kay kiang passengers.

1. Before taking off, so many of them didn’t bother to switch of the phones and the flight crews had to watch them closely to make sure they switch off their phones, one by one!

2. Seat belt sign was on, the plane was still climbing, there were so many clicks heard, those stupid people unbuckled their seat belts! Some even closed the window shades. You shouldn’t do that! It should be remained open in case there’s emergency so that flight crews or other passengers will know and act accordingly. Read this…

3. Plane still climbing, some people wanted to rush to the toilet. What the?!?! The flight crew had to tell them to sit down until the seat belt sign was off to use the toilet. You will hurt yourself during this time if you walk around or get yourself hurt in the toilet! Common sense ok?!?

4. Once the seat belt sign was off, those people rushed to the toilet and at the same time, some phones started to ring! GAH! STUPID! You want to kill everyone on the plane is it? You don’t want to live, others still want to live. Blardy hell! Flight crew had to make announcement to remind them to switch off their phone.

5. When reached Singapore, the plane had just touched down and immediately we heard seat belts unbuckled again! Next, some more wanted to rush to the toilet and the flight crew had to instruct them to sit down until the plane came to a stop. *shake head* Then the flight crew had to make announcement again. Not only that, phones started to ring again! AIYOOO!

These things really get on my nerves. These people are really selfish, they do not allow to be on board. Just because of the minority, it will cause serious problem to the majority. Putting others’ lives at risk. I know there are always very “civilized” passenger in every flight and I’m sure it’s something common that the flight crews have to handle but this was the worst I’ve seen.

On the day we came back, same thing happened and it’s even more chaotic and I could sense the flight crews were almost going to blow their cool. Pitied them. This will be story for other time.

Anyway, the flight took 1 hour and 5 minutes to reach Singapore, we arrived 10 minutes early. The flight was noisy, never been on such noisy flight, as if the noise insulation wasn’t enough. Hmm…

Tiger Airways lands at the budget terminal and the terminal was indeed budget hahaha… No escalator, it’s all walk, walk, walk, and walk… Long way to walk. Need to take the free shuttle to Terminal 2 to take the MRT. We took MRT from Changi to Sembawang(SGD3/person, SGD1 will be refunded to you once you return the card to the machine) which took us about 1 hour+. It was late, so after we had dinner, off we went to sleep. By the way, was staying with my aunt so didn’t spend much money.

Summary of My Singapore Trip

Posted on August 22, 2009August 23, 2009 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Summary of My Singapore Trip

I’m back! Feel slightly relieve because I don’t have to take public transport, do not need to do so much of walking around, sleep on my own bed, and do whatever I like without worrying about making mistakes but at the same time not that happy to be back because I have to face stupid problem that’s been haunting me for quite a while and there is still no proper solution for it. Anyway, this will be story for another day.

I haven’t got the time to filter out who are the winners for the contest but I think the final questions are enough to let me make the decision. I’ll let you know the result soon. I was having tough time looking for prizes all over Singapore for the winners and ended up I have no idea which I should give for the winners as I bought quite a number along the way and kept changing my mind on what to give, some related to Singapore, some not related at all. I’m still deciding which prize to give ;p Thanks everyone for the support.

Just a quick summary(might miss out here and there), I haven’t go tru’ the photos yet:
Day 1: Off to Singpoare, 1 hour and 5 minutes flight with Tiger Airways, first time travel on it. Very noisy flight, don’t know why. Not only that, some of the passengers were really pain in the ass to handle, pitied the flight crews. Got a bit of shocked when reach the airport hahaha… It’s not what I had expected. More on it in coming post.

Day 2:
Cut my finger with the blister pack of my contact lens.
Off to Bugis, Suntec, City Hall, and Orchard Road. Bought something at Sephora, was excited to see Sephora in Singapore!
Cut my finger again, this time, my bag’s buckle.
Thanks to Simon for meeting us up at Suntec and later sent us to Orchard Road.

Day 3:
Go around Sembawang, bought a cardigan.
Then to Chinatown, Clark Quay, Robertson Quay, and The Merlion. Skipped Little India, too tired and lazy to navigate there. Bought something at Chinatown.
Almost fell down at Robertson Quay.
Thanks Simon and his gf for the ride and the dinner πŸ˜‰

Day 4:
Dedicated the whole day for Sentosa. Bruised my knee and scratched my foot at Pelawan Beach.
Didn’t expect to buy 1 and a half set of bikinis there *LOL* When I tried them out, I saw the flab! OH NO!!! -.-” Have to get rid of it! More about it in coming post.
When on the way back to Vivo City, my whole right arm started to pain for no apparent reason that I cannot put any pressure or carry anything with it, I had to rely on my left hand to do everything -.-”
Went back after dinner at Vivo City and started packing.
Couldn’t really sleep because of the arm pain.

Day 5:
Final packing, off to the airport and again… Relied on my left hand to carry my luggage and so on, right hand and arm were still painful. Thought it got better the next day but after I carried my nephew, the pain came back.
Wanted to buy a duty free perfume as my first perfume but ended up bought nothing, really couldn’t part with my money even though knowing that I won’t be able to get the perfume here and those that I can get here are cheaper there.
The flight was a noisy one and the passengers were really “uncivilized”, I’m sure the crews are having really hard time handling these people. Managed to see nice clear view of Kuching from the sky before landing. For the first time in my life as usually either I’m sitting away from the window or weather or time didn’t permit it.

Overall, spent very little, thought will spend a lot, spent only about 20% or less of the money I brought. Oh well… Initial plan was interrupted so not much money was spent. Furthermore, can’t shop much in Singapore at all, most of the things are very expensive as in if you convert the money back to Ringgit.

That’s all for now πŸ™‚ TONNES of photos to filter!! Wonder how long will it takes me to complete my “adventure” in Singapore.
