Summary of Genting-KL Trip 5th-8th January 2010

Posted on January 11, 2010January 11, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Summary of Genting-KL Trip 5th-8th January 2010

I haven’t got the time to edit the photos for the post. I’ll just do a summary for now in case some of you wonder how my trip went.

5th January:
Bye bye Kuching… Hello KL and Genting…

Noon flight to KL using Air Asia, weather was good. Had meals on board, ordered it when I bought the tickets. Thinking of catching a ride direct to Genting from LCCT but was turned off by the fare. So ended up headed to KL Sentral. Thought of buying the bus ticket to Genting but due to the time and seeing that the buses were empty and not many people buying tickets, I decided to look for taxi. Found one, RM80 to go up to Genting. Took the offer. Luckily! Else our room would be gone! We must check-in before 6pm, reached the check-in counter at 5.30pm! If we were to take the bus, we would be in big trouble. Stayed in the quad room of Theme Park Hotel. Only RM78.80/night! What an offer I managed to get. Could not sleep the whole night, suffering!

6th January:
Bye bye Genting… Hello to KL again…

Took bus to KL Sentral at 12pm. Had Burger King there before looking for taxi to go to 41Berangan. Almost got slaughtered by some taxi drivers. Checked-in, then headed out to KLCC but we got lost trying to navigate our way to Bukit Bintang for taxi *LOL* In fact, Bukit Bintang was only few steps away from the junction we came out! We walked the wrong direction and got ourselves turning and turning at the same area so many times. Silly! Again, almost got slaughtered by another taxi driver. Finally got a taxi to KLCC, spent the afternoon there. Then went back to Bukit Bintang using LRT and monorail. Spent the night away at Sungei Wang and BB Plaza.

7th January:
Went to Pavilion and Lot 10 in the morning. Was pretty indecisive whether to go to 1Utama or Mid Valley. Ended up, went to 1Utama and regretted it. Was thinking of buying clothes there as I’ve been getting my clothes there every time I visit KL but not this time. Quite wasted(time and money) to be honest. Had dinner at TGI Friday at 1Utama before calling it a night. Lucky to get an honest taxi driver and luckily no jam! Slept quite early, before 11pm hehehe…

8th January:
Going back to Sungei Wang and bought some clothes there. Then Low Yat Plaza to see see look look. Next, went to Time Square. Bought a dress and Krispy Kreme there. Had lunch at the popular pan mee place just few houses away from the place we’re staying. Make final adjustment to our luggage due to one being overweight and waited for taxi to the airport. Reached the airport extremely early! Flight at almost 8pm yet we were already there at around 4pm. Didn’t know there’s new road that could reach the airport in more or less 1 hour hahaha… Loitered around the airport with my parents, munching on junk food my dad bought, killing our time. Flight was delayed for few minutes only.

Bye bye KL… Hello Kuching!

Basically, we spent most of our time getting lost inside the shopping malls! Hahaha… When you don’t need the exit, you kept seeing it; when you need the exit, you can’t seem to find the correct exit or even one exit!

It was a bit hard to navigate around KL, so much of going to KL more than once yet I still have problem navigate around ;p Oh well… What to do? All these while I had people driving me around KL. This is the first time I navigated on my own and had my parents with me. It’s their first time there. So you can imagine how my situation was. Pretty stress in a way but great experience and happy to be able to go holiday with them.

Lastly, my camera was very under utilized throughout the trip because I’ve been to those places and took enough photos of them already. Just took photos of my parents and I only had 2 photos taken, one with my dad, one with my mum.

Singapore Trip: Day 5(21/8/09): Part 5: Bye Bye Singapore

Posted on September 16, 2009September 17, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 5(21/8/09): Part 5: Bye Bye Singapore

Time to say bye bye to Singapore. Packing was hellish! Not because we shopped too much, we didn’t even shop but were “forced” to bring back all those things which caused my sis’ luggage to overshoot the weight quota. Luckily they didn’t fine her -.-” Phew…

Dragged our fully packed luggage(went there with only half the luggage empty) and hand luggage(went there with only some essentials in the hand luggage) all the way from Sembawang to the airport. It was horrible especially with my right hand feeling so painful since the night before. I relied on my left hand only. -.-”

Nothing much to say about the wait to board the plane but a lot to say about the passengers. I really don’t know how to say them.

There’s a group of uncles and couple of aunties, boarding the plane with lots of duty-free alcohols and musical instruments. As you know the seats were assigned when you check-in. You should just sit at your assigned seat. If you are given a seat at the emergency exit, it means you are qualified to sit there as only those that are deemed strong enough by the check-in agent can sit there so in that in case of emergency, you can help open the emergency door.

Yet… These uncles were really… I don’t know how to say them. We sat right in front of them. They sat there then the air crew explained the procedures about the emergency exit. They listened and responded to the air crew that they understood what was briefed. Then not long later, one of the uncles stood up, left the seat and then out of sudden an aunty(I don’t think she’ll have the energy to open the emergency door when needed -.-“) came and sat at that uncle’s place -.-” For goodness sake, it’s the emergency exit!

She sat down and the air crew saw her and told her that she’s sitting at the emergency exit. The air crew asked the other uncle where’s the earlier uncle went to and that uncle answered that the earlier uncle changed his seat with this aunty coz the earlier uncle wanted to sit with his wife. The aunty just looked at her and smiled and responded happily like as there’s nothing wrong for her to sit there and was pretty excited coz she got to sit with her man.

I saw the air crew’s face, looked so stress and fed up but still explained patiently to the aunty about the emergency procedures. The aunty obviously didn’t understand anything kept giggling while the air crew explained the procedures to her. Then the aunty said, “Why are you people talking to me about this? Why target me? I don’t understand a word at all hehehehe… Brief them enough.” OMG! I almost wanted to bang my head to the window. *sweat*

Then the other uncle that didn’t belong to the group said to the aunty, “because this is the emergency exit that’s why they briefed you about the procedures, they briefed us earlier on, you see the door here?”. The aunty just responded with “Oooo… No wonder.”

Poor air crews… Really pity them. I do not fly much but I’ve been pretty lucky for not encountering passengers like these in other flights be it MAS or Air Asia. On the flight to and from Singapore, I saw and listened with my own eyes and ears these things for the first time of my flying life. Consider this a new experience for me hahaha…

So that’s all about my trip. Not quite satisfied with this trip as my plan was almost ruined but managed to save a lot all thanks to the almost-ruined plan.

Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.4: Food Republic @ Vivo City

Posted on September 15, 2009September 15, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.4: Food Republic @ Vivo City

My Singapore trip posts will be ending very soon. Last post will be tomorrow… My Streamyx is still not back yet. Sigh…

So… After Sentosa, we headed back to Vivo City using the monorail. Since it’s already dinner time, so we decided to settle our dinner Food Republic @ Vivo City. WOW! Food Republic is really something to WOW about! The Food Republic in KL is unique. This is even more unique even though it’s not that big compare to the one at Pavilion, KL.

See the interior design? It’s really special. You feel like you are in an old Chinese street. The tables and chairs are extremely heavy.

Let’s see what we had:

Left: Fast food from the fast food stall. This plate of rice cost SGD4.70, it came with a bowl of seaweed soup. Taste wise? Hmmm… It’s edible, nothing much to rave.

Right: Mixed meat claypot rice(SGD6.80) from Fortune Restaurant stall. This wasn’t so bad.

Oh well… Couldn’t order much or try much food as there will be surely comment like “go back to Kuching to eat even cheaper.”, you say la… Aiyoo… How to try out food like that?!?

Most of the time, you only see I featured 2 types of food but do you know these are for 3 people consumption? Again… Oh well… Don’t want to mention anymore.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Hope Streamyx will be back soon.

Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.3: Beaches @ Sentosa

Posted on September 12, 2009September 13, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.3: Beaches @ Sentosa

This is the last part of Sentosa. It’s all about the beaches. There were 3 beaches but we only went to 2 of them, Siloso and Palawan. Skipped Tanjong coz getting lazy and tired already.

Siloso beach… Camwhored quite a fair bit but I just looked horrible in most photos. I felt that I’m not comfortable in front of cameras anymore unless I’m the one taking my own photos. I guess it’s because gone are those days that I kept having cameras pointing all over me to take my photos and I would be so natural in responding to them. Now… I feel awkward. A sign of feeling old? OH NO! Hahaha…

At Siloso, you can play volleyball there.

Views of Siloso.

Rasa Sentosa Resort.

Then we went to the Beach Station and caught another ride to Palawan Beach. The purple vehicle is one of the rides that send you to those beaches.

There’s a suspension bridge that links beach-goers to the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia (and also Asia’s closest point to the Equator). AIKS! I only know now after checking out Sentosa official website! If I knew back then I would have cross it! Was too lazy to walk that time and thought it was nothing special but a bridge.

Having great time at the beach with the family. Actually this is just a section of the actual photo. This is the bottom part of the photo.

Here…

This is the top part of the photo. After seeing this kind of view from both beaches, I some how started to appreciate our beaches here better. You don’t get this kind of view at our beaches here.

Honestly, I don’t want my children to grow up seeing or playing at beach with such view. Sorry if I offended some people as to me, a beach should be a place that you see the sea and sky join together with no other objects obstructing it except islands or some small boats.

Love beers? Wanna chill out? Bora Bora Beach Bar is the place you can do so. I fell on my knee here. Bruised my knee and cut my right foot when I lost my balance stepping on the section between the real sand and hard surface covered with sand. Mind you, these seats here are only for customers of the bar, you will get to sit here if you order something here. It’s not for the public. I would have take my time chilling out here if I’m with my darling and on a no fuss and relaxing trip but nuh-uh… That’s not the case.

Next… You can have the option of clicking on to read more or skip it. Let me warn you first, I’m not responsible if you loss your appetite

Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.2: Sentosa

Posted on September 11, 2009September 12, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Singapore Trip: Day 4(20/8/09): Part 4.2: Sentosa

Headed to Siloso with the bus ride.

These are some of the food and beverage outlets. That cutie over there looked right into my camera hehehe… Wonder what he’s thinking? Is he thinking I’m taking his photo? I didn’t even realized there’s a cutie until I came back to Kuching and viewed all the photos I had taken. 😛

The Underwater World is located here. I was thinking of going in but sigh… Travel companion didn’t want to go in.

So… Just make do with the Underwater Viewing Chamber out there.

You can find turtles and stingrays there too.

Time for lunch. We had ours at Kowloon Food Express.

Ordered Chicken Rice Set(SGD8) and Singapore Style Fried Bee Hoon(SGD6). Chicken rice was not bad, the fried bee hoon got nothing to rave about, it’s just fried bee hoon hahaha…

Not far from the The Underwater World, there’s another attraction called Fort Siloso.

After that, we headed to Siloso Beach but before that we saw a peacock there, only one peacock. There’s many peahens. Was hoping the peacock will show off its tail but it didn’t, too bad…

Next up will be beaches! Me in bikini perhaps?
