My journey in discovering myself in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia while fulfilling my dream to study overseas.

Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 4

Posted on March 7, 2013March 7, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 4

The final part of trip to Robe. I still have so many pending posts from Australia! -.-”

After we check-out, we went to Mahalia Coffee for coffee.

Coffee brewed in Robe. Cosy little shop. Coffee price started from AUD3.50, it’s standard price of small cup of coffee in Australia.

My friends ordered some cakes. I bit too sweet for my liking but had it with the cream, it balanced out the sweetness.

Then we drove back and thought of having late lunch at Murray Bridge.

After that we headed to Hahndorf for early dinner but at the end changed our mind and headed straight down to the city.

That’s the end of the long weekend trip to Robe.

Goodbye Adelaide

Posted on March 4, 2013March 6, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Goodbye Adelaide

2/3/2013, marked the end of my journey of my life in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. Boarded the 6.10pm flight to Singapore for transit.

I packed and unpacked until the last minute before my friend came to pick me up. Ended up I left a lot of rubbish for my housemate to clear -.-” I thought I would have time to throw it out but no… I wasted a lot of time readjusting my luggage’s (two check-in luggage, a hand luggage, a handbag, and a laptop bag) weight. Only have 30kg and I had to throw out more and created more rubbish. It’s sad that I had to let go of a bowl a friend gave to me.

Was pretty busy the past week with final shopping, packing and farewell dinners every single night! On the last night, I had 4 to attend and also shopped for a very light luggage which had saved me a lot of stress even though there’s still stress as I had gone overweight actually. Even before heading to the airport, I had one final lunch with another group of friends. Not many friends were back to Adelaide so I didn’t get to meet the rest. It’s a good thing too because I won’t have much time to slot all of them in as I only have a week left.

I didn’t let anyone send me off. Only one person sent me to the airport and didn’t stay until I board but only help me with my check-in luggage and then waste no time in leaving. At least, this is the person whom I hope would send me off and I did not shed a tear. Tears kept flowing throughout the flight from Adelaide to Singapore. Can’t help it. Going home for good.

It’s been a fruitful stay for almost 2 years here. It’s time to say goodbye.

3/3/2013, after about 18 hours in Singapore for transit, I’m finally on the way back to Kuching. Finally I’m back in one piece.

It was a very stressful journey for me. Was so emotionally, mentally, intellectually, and physically tiring! Not because of leaving but because of my luggage especially the carry-on. Before boarding on the flight to go back to Kuching, I was required to check-in one hand carry last minute as the size was too big. Luckily, it was free of charge. However, that’s not the end of it, I was worry the bag might be damaged as that bag was not designed to be check-in and it’s not mine! I need to return it to my friend. It’s her favourite bag some more!

Only could relax after I got through the custom in Kuching as I’m afraid I might be stopped for bringing in too many alcohol. 3 bottles (big, medium, and small) all together (2 wine, 1 spirit).

Finally I’m home now. So what’s next? I don’t see a new life here (at least for now), it’s more like going back to my comfort zone, going back to where I was almost 2 years ago.

It’s such a mixture of emotions. Good and bad for both. It’s not that good for me to stay in Adelaide in terms of certain aspects but at the same time going back to Kuching isn’t do me much good too (at least for now).

The good things that I’m looking forward to is to come back to my family and to end the “hanging” issue I experienced in Adelaide. While the good things for staying in Adelaide are that I could enjoy lots of freedom, safety, and clean air.

Anyway, I’m back. I’m gonna haunt Kuching again. In what way? I don’t know yet. Still very blur…

Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 3

After the market, we went to have a walk at the beach.

Then, we headed to get our pizza lunch at Vicstreet Pizzeria.

Oh dear… I don’t remember what were they. Basically their pizza range from AUD11-25 with 3 different sizes to choose from.

Not sure about the pasta too ;p Didn’t pay attention to their order, they range from AUD18-21. Overall, it was satisfying.

After that, we went for dessert at The Ice Cream Shop.

Very nice place! Love the interior! No photo for it because I couldn’t get any proper shoot for it because there’s too many things and couldn’t really fit into camera viewfinder.

Left: I had Baileys ice cream (AUD5).
Right: Donuts.

After dessert, we splited into to groups, male and female.

The guys went fishing while we went for a picnic with our moscato, cheese, crackers, and junk food under the shade at the beach.

Left: Our group photos before heading home for BBQ.
Right: Our BBQ! Turned out well! Surprised with the outcome. With the table setting and the food. Really not the typical BBQ session, more like fine dining hahaha…

After dinner, we watched the final of The Australian Open. My first and last time watching it.

Final post will come soon.

Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 2

Posted on February 23, 2013February 25, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 2

We, the girls decided to have a relaxing afternoon having tea at the backyard while the other 4 playing mahjong. I got no clue at all on how to play LOL. I just watched.

We went to dinner at the Malaysia restaurant in Robe, Don’s Kitchen. The highlight was the lobster with ee mee.

Left: Tom yum soup.
Right: Mixed vegetanles.

Left: Don’t remember what’s this.
Right: Curry or is it rendang.

Left: Salt and pepper squid.
Right: Pork rib.

In fact I don’t quite remember the actual name of the food anymore but the lobster with ee mee is great! The total came to AUD300+ if I’m not mistaken.

The next day, the guys made breakfast, french toast and sausages. They’re such great cook!

Then we started discovering Robe.

The information centre itself acted as a library, mini museum, souvenir shops, and bicycle rental.

Happened that there’s a market going on. Lots to see and taste. My friends bought a lot of cherries.

More posts to come, stay tuned…

Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 1

Posted on February 22, 2013February 22, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Robe (26/1/2013-28/1/2013) – Part 1

Back in 26/1/2013, I went to Robe with my friends. There were all together 10 of us.

It was about 4 hour plus drive if not mistaken.

The second stop we made, the giant lobster!

Finally, after a long drive, we reached Robe. We went to get fish and chips for our late lunch.

Huge portion! Love the chips. Don’t remember how much they cost but I only know that ours (share by the 3 of us) wasn’t a set instead of we ordered the items a la carte, portion was huge compare to the set and almost similar price.

After that, we hunt for our accommodation. It’s a cottage. Very cozy cottage at Elizabeth Street.

Fully furnished and can fit more than 10 people.

The beds were shaky though hahaha…

It’s quite a nice place.

Cost us about AUD800+ for 2 nights.

There’s only one toilet and bathroom and both of them were located outside -.-” I don’t like this bit. It’s so cold in Robe at night even though it’s summer. Can’t imagine autumn and winter staying here. Need to go out to the cold at night to take a shower or to the toilet hahaha…

We immediately filled the space with our food! These are just part of our food.

To be continued…
