My journey in discovering myself in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia while fulfilling my dream to study overseas.

CIBO Espresso @ Rundle Street

Posted on August 11, 2011August 12, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on CIBO Espresso @ Rundle Street

CIBO Espresso is no stranger to anyone in Adelaide. However, I only knew about it when I attended Marketing Management class when my coursemates mentioned about it. It’s everywhere and with red striking colour yet I never noticed hahaha… I guess I’m not a coffee person so I didn’t really bother.

Had the opportunity to visit the outlet at Rundle Street, if I’m not mistaken, this is the very first outlet in Adelaide. Not only coffee or tea. They also have gelato.

Left: Very advance system too. Well… I guess it’s not new, just that it’s my first time seeing such paging system. It will buzz when your order is ready.

Right: Mini Affogato (AUD4), vanilla gelato doused with espresso.

Left: If not mistaken, this should be Iced Chocolate (AUD3.80).

Right: Hot chocolate (AUD3.40). The hot chocolate was really sweet and thick. Luckily I ordered the smallest cup. Was expecting to see marshmallow with it but there’s none.

Left: There’s wide range of food to choose from also.

Right: The second floor. Great area to hang out with friends, especially the big table with high chairs. Those sofas aren’t really that great though, too low.

When 3 Girls Meet

Posted on August 9, 2011August 9, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on When 3 Girls Meet

Back home, I have more male friends than female friends. Here in Adelaide, I have soooooo many female friends but male friends can only be counted with less than 5 fingers! That’s all! How pathetic? Some more, it’s so hard to find people within my age bracket be it male or female. They’re mostly way younger than I am. So far, only one I know who is of the same age as me sigh… However, I do not look my age so those younger ones thought that I’m as young as them ;p It’s pretty hard to find a partner here too hahaha… Anybody to intro? *DESPERATE* ;p

Happened that I met 2 coursemates since the start of my studies. They’re both from Malaysia, one about 1 year younger than me and another one my sister’s age (5 years younger). We’ve been planning about hanging out even before exam but never got the time to do it until last Friday. 3 of us went for dinner at Chinatown at 5.30pm then headed back to the apartment with a bottle of Jim Beam(700ml), a bottle of Pepsi(2L), 2 cans of Coke(375ml each), and 3 packets of chips *LOL* It’s a good thing my friend’s housemate had moved out so we had the whole apartment for ourselves to talk with all the privacy we need. It’s not easy to have such privacy here you know…

There you go… I don’t normally drink, even if I did it’s just few sips but last Friday, we finished the whole bottle of alcohol and Pepsi, and a can of coke. We had them with bowls! No cups for it that’s why ;p Started at 7pm. My very first time, surprisingly I wasn’t drunk at all, very much alert the whole night, none of us got drunk, the whole night was just sitting down, talking, drinking, eating, and many toilet trips ;p. I’m quite amaze with myself! Apparently my alcohol tolerant level isn’t that low. I guess it’s not bad for a beginner hahaha… This is my first time drinking so much alcohol and softdrink! Very bad for health. Gosh… I still can’t believe it until today! Good thing, no allergy, no turning red, no headache too. Usually I’ll get itchiness even with few sips.

Guess I’m not allergic to bourbon as few weeks back I had some American Honey too and it got no effect on me while my other friend turned red hahaha… It was very little too. Even so, I won’t make drinking my habit. I don’t like the taste of alcohol, just not my kind of thing to hang out with alcohol, I still prefer to hang out with tea or chocolate in a nice quiet cafe. Clubbing is not my thing. Loud music stresses me out.

We only ended the session at 5.30am (Saturday morning)! Was supposed to end it before 12am and keep the leftover alcohol for next time but hahaha… We finished everything. Unbelievable! We talked non-stop too! Oh well… What to do? We are suffering from the same “sickness” and found out we are pretty much in common. WOW! ;p No wonder we clicked. It was girl talk for 12 hours straight!

Got home and slept at about 6am after shower. Woke up around 11.30am. I guess I’m not that young anymore, in the afternoon I was so damn sleepy but I forced myself to stay awake to do some research for my assignments, dozing on and off. At the end, I gave in, I slept at around 11pm that night. Then again, still not enough, woke up early the next day to church, got back and I was so sleepy, even dozed off in front of my computer doing my research -.-”

There you go… The story of the meeting of 3 “thirsty” girls… *LOL*

T2

When I heard of T2, I had no idea what it was all about. My friends kept talking about it and finally when I reached there then I found out that it’s a shop specializing in many type of tea! It’s really an amazing place located at Rundle Street.

Left: The signboard in front of the shop. Doesn’t look like a place for buying tea.

Right: WOW! Sooooo colourful! You can find all sort of drinkwares be it for tea, coffee, juice, water, and more! I’m sure you’ll definitely find something you want in there.

Wonder how those tea smells like? You get to smell them here… It’s really a tea heaven for those who love tea. Oh, you get to try out some of the tea in the shop too.

Left: Just part of the section of the shop. All types storage solutions for tea-tipplers.

Right: The counter.

It’s an interesting place to visit and great for tea lovers. Highly recommend this place.

Noodle Kingdom

Posted on August 5, 2011August 5, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Noodle Kingdom

Went on an eating spree last weekend. Never dine out so many times in 2 days in my life! This also mean I spent too much for the weekend! -.-

Anyway, the journey started at Chinatown Noodle Kingdom. Just behind the Central Market, 31 Gouger St City Centre. They specialized in Nothern Chinese cuisine.

Ordered some food to share. I don’t quite remember what were the food we had ordered as I’m not the one ordering. Will try my best to provide the correct name hehehe…

Left: Beijing Style Fried Noodle (AUD9.50), tried a bit of it and the taste was good.

Right: Seaweed (AUD1), it tasted weird, I didn’t like it. Not the usual seaweed taste that I know.

These two looked similar and OH DEAR! I really don’t remember anything! ;p All I knew was that I like one of them as it’s quite flavourful and the noodle was so Q. The other one was quite tasteless or maybe because I had the stronger flavoured one hence I couldn’t taste the taste of the other one.

If not mistaken, they are Beef Brisket in Noodle Soup (AUD8.50) and Authentic Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup (AUD8.50). Really really don’t remember, doesn’t look like what in the menu to identify also hahaha…

Left: Pan Fried Pork Dumpling (AUD7.50), I like this.

Right: Steamed Shanghai Pork Dumplings (AUD6.80), a bit of disappointment with this, I was expecting the skin to be very delicate, not so dry, and lots of the soup in there but it didn’t. Taste wise, it was good.

Portion was big! Definitely cannot finish it alone. Good to share with friends. Price wise, it’s not that expensive if you’re earning AUD *LOL* However, once converted then it’s another story hahaha…

Pho Minh

Posted on July 27, 2011July 27, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Pho Minh

Typo in the image, ignore it ;p should be “Pho” not “Poh”.

I’ve been hearing about the famous Vietnamese beef noodle for so many times but never had the opportunity to try it.

Finally got the chance to try it out few weeks ago. Went to the Vietnamese restaurant at Mansfield Park (Shop 7/86 Wilson Street). Ordered small combination noodle soup, it was $10, but it’s HUGE! There’s Rare Beef, Rib, Tendon, Tripe, Beef Ball, and Intercostal meat in it. However, I could finish it, at first I thought I couldn’t.

These are the things to accompany the dish. A lot!

Was told that this place serves the best pho in Adelaide. The broth is sweet, unlike our beef soup noodle back home. I think it was good. No wonder it’s so popular. So… This will be the benchmark for other pho that I’ll have in Adelaide next time.
