Wasai Japanese Kitchen

Posted on October 11, 2011October 11, 2011 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Wasai Japanese Kitchen

Had farewell dinner with my one of my colleagues (who is also my coursemate) at Wasai last week. It’s a Japanese restaurant located at 9-15 Field Street, basically at Chinatown.

This is my very first Japanese food in Adelaide. We ordered Momoji(AUD105) to share among 4-5 people. It’s special selections of Wasai’s most popular dishes.

In fact, you can even share with 6 or 7 people if all of you are not very big eater. The most expensive dinner I had, I paid AUD30 for my portion which include 2 bottles of sake(shared among 10 people, if I recalled correctly) which I only drank a small cup. Soooo broke! It’s only beginning of October and AUD30 gone just for one meal… Oh well… It’s the company that counts. The most just have to be very careful in spending this month. What’s more last month overshoot my expenditure limit ;p

Left: The chili powder and soy sauce.
Right: Complimentary edamame was served.

Momoji consisted of…

Left: Deluxe Sushi + Sashimi Boat, goodness! It was so gooooooooooooooood… The shashimi was so fresh! Love it! Haven’t eaten any good Japanese food for so loooooooooooong.
Right: Agedashi Tofu, very soft and tasty. *slurp*

Left: Soba Salad, very nice too. OH! Everything was nice.
Right: Tempura consists of prawns, fish and assorted vegetables. All the ingredients were so fresh.

Left: Teriyaki Chicken. It was cooked to perfection.
Right: Seafood Miso Hotpot, it’s quite salty but it’s quite tasty. By the time this was served, we’re so stuffed already.

Overall, the food was good, at least my AUD30 (just don’t do the conversion ok?!? Hahaha…) for this meal was worth it. Highly recommded. Just too expensive for me… I really miss quality Japanese cuisine. At least this was good enough to fix my crave until don’t-know-when.

Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley Day Trip (Part 2)

Posted on October 8, 2011October 8, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley Day Trip (Part 2)

Continue from part 1…

The Toy Factory… All sort of wooden toys can be found here.

I guess children nowadays are not interested in playing toys like this anymore. Reminded me of my childhood. We didn’t even have video games or computers or any fancy plastics toys. All we played were toys like this. Also, nowadays, if you see such toys in one’s house, it’s likely as a decoration instead of for playing hahaha…

The Wildlife Park, get up close and personal with the animals. You can even feed them too but we didn’t. These are some of the birds found there. Very beautiful colour.

Ok… I’m not going to name the animals one by one hehehe… You go figure out yourself, I’ll just show you the photos:

There you go… Finally I touched a kangaroo! Hahaha…

Barossa Valley next…

Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley Day Trip (Part 1)

Posted on October 7, 2011October 7, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley Day Trip (Part 1)

So… After clubbing and got about 4 hours+ of sleep, I got SMS from my friend saying that she’d be going to Adelaide Hills around 11am and asked me whether I want to go or not. Of course! My holiday started and it’s the only time I’m soooooo freeeee and needed a break and have fun! I cannot waste the holiday like that for doing nothing and some more going to places out of the city is something that doesn’t come easy for me for not having a car and not familiar with places hahaha…

On the way to Adelaide Hills… Very nice views. Prior to this, I only see these views on TV or magazines or photos. I thought I will never have the chance to see it with my own eyes.

I love this kind of views, the mountain especially and seeing real sheeps and cows grazing the grass.

Here we are… Adelaide Hills, the popular world biggest rocking horse which can be found at The Toy Factory and Big Rocking Horse.

Left: There’s a small one… Reminded me of the rocking horse which I played in my kindy years hehehe…
Right: The big one!!

More to come. Off to sleep for now. Going to get busy with partying, assignments, classes, and all sort of things ;p

First Time Clubbing in Adelaide

Posted on October 6, 2011October 5, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on First Time Clubbing in Adelaide

My very first time clubbing in Adelaide, first time and already hit 3 clubs in one night! ;p It happened after exam. We all completed our exam and decided that we must party to the max after 2 study periods of slaving hahaha…

After dessert, I went to meet my other group of friends around 11pm. They had pre-drinking session, I didn’t drink much, just a few sips of red wine.

We, 4 girls, headed out to Swish at Stamford Hotel near our apartment at 12am+, means it’s already 17/9/2011. It was initially planned to be girls night out but we called up a guy friend of ours to join us last minute. The theme of the night was 90’s, the music didn’t really rock us so we decided to change place.

We headed to Heaven, need to pay cover charge. GAH! AUD15! Not cheap wei! Another guy friend came to join us too. All 6 of us from 3 different countries(Malaysia, Pakistan, and China). Go figure, who is from where ;p

Then, around 3.30am, we headed to another club, Lavish, near our apartment. Luckily this time no cover charge else I’ll be broke! I had spent so much earlier of the night for dinner and then the cover charge of Heaven. Way over my budget. Before going into Lavish, we stopped by McD as some of us need BREAKFAST! πŸ˜› I had a cup of Fruit Fizz.

We headed to our starting point, friend’s apartment, at 5am hahaha… Then they continued to drink again, to finish off the red wine. I only started to drink now ;p drank about half glass only. Didn’t even touch any alcohol during clubbing. Actually I did, just a sip, my friend asked me to try her drink. That’s all I had.

At 5.30am, we called it a night. I didn’t bother to shower, just removed my makeup and went to sleep. Good thing the clubbing scene here doesn’t allow indoor smoking, I didn’t sweat too else I’ll have to shower, wash my hair, dry my hair and so on. By the time I’m done with all those stuff, it’ll be 7am! So I managed to go to bed at almost 6am.

What an experience in Adelaide. That’s not all… More to come, it was a full swing weekend for me. Things started from Friday evening and only ended on Sunday evening.

Steven ter Horst Chocolatier

Posted on October 5, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Steven ter Horst Chocolatier

After dinner at Kopi Tim, we went for dessert at 221D Unley Road, There’s a shop called Steven ter Horst Chocolatier. The place is secluded, quite hard to find if you’re not a local in Adelaide or stay here long enough.

Finally get to go to a little cosy place to hang out. This place specialized in chocolate which claimed to use offer with the highest quality Belgian chocolate.

Left: So many chocolates!
Right: We ordered some tea. You can have single pot for AUD3.50 or double pot aka bigger pot to share for AUD5.50. You can get free refill. We had raspberry tea and also Earl Grey.

Left: Hot chocolate (AUD5.50 – small, AUD6.50 – large)
Right: OMG! Heavenly! The most delicious chocolate dessert I ever had. It’s quite sweet but not the kind of sweetness that can made you felt sick eating too much. Nuts About Chocolate (AUD7.50), there’s roasted almond, hazelbut daquoise, chocolate cremeaux decorated with chocolate chantilly. Just can’t get enough of it!

Lemon Lust (AUD7.70), lemon mousse dome, praline cream, cocoa sponge and toasted almonds. This is nice too. Sweet and sour. I love it also!

GOSH! I wanna have more!! Highly recommended.
