Saldechin with The Computer Poolers

Posted on November 25, 2011November 28, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Saldechin with The Computer Poolers

*LOL* The computer poolers! How creative!

Last Friday night, we went to Saldechin at 21 King William St, very near my place, near the uni too. It’s a tearoom, restaurant and martini bar.

Went there after spending the day at the computer pool with the usual computer poolers of the postgrad barn ;p I was just tagging along and to chat, didn’t even drink.

I like the place a lot! It’s a nice place to hang out. My friends went there because of the Martini Bar. The martinis cost $10/each. 5-8pm happy hour, we went there at around 6pm. Quite like the interior. The live jazz band was awesome!

The drinks are surprisingly affordable. The environment and the pricing just don’t match but it’s a good thing πŸ˜‰

Left: The martinis ordered by the girls. I had a taste only, not even a sip, just taste, it’s not so bad but it’s still alcohol hahaha…
Right: Guess this group made up of how many country? Two of them not the computer poolers but both are master degree holders. One from my uni, another from University of Adelaide. ;p

Here’s all the computer poolers from different post graduate programmes of UniSA ;p How many country here?

We left at about 8.30pm. Nice place to hang out with friends. Definitely will go back one day.

I’m So Busy

Posted on November 23, 2011November 24, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on I’m So Busy

All right! Another all-text post. Ever since I got the confirmation for Korea short term cultural exchange, I’ve been busy running around getting it settled. Also, in the process of extending my stay here since I will be continuing my master degree which I must get it done before Christmas.

Flight ticket booked. SUPER DUPER EXPENSIVE! What to do… It’s peak season, go figure! Double the usual price -.-” Luckily at least I have about AUD2100 to cover given by both universities.

I’m flying on new year’s eve from Adelaide to Seoul, Seoul to Busan on 1/1/12.
Then flying from Busan to Seoul on CNY’s eve, Seoul to Adelaide on first day of CNY.
Both gonna stop in Singapore, 31/12 and 23/1.

Anyone in Singapore who want to meet up with me? Poor me… At least come and spend first day CNY with me hahaha… I’ll be there on 31/12/11 12-1.30pm and 23/1/12 3-7pm.

This year spent new year’s eve in Singapore. Next year spend it in Seoul then new year in Busan. Sounds exciting hahaha… Even the flight ticket cost is “exciting”!

The quote I got yesterday is not applicable today anymore, the price increased so I had change my return date to 1 day later to get cheaper price but still slightly expensive compare to the quote yesterday. Means I will have to find a place to stay on 21/1 in Busan before flying to Seoul the next day because the dormitory closed on 21/1. Extra money needed again. I have to increase my travel budget again due to this sigh… At first, I thought all I need is another AUD600 from my own pocket to shop/play, then had to increase it to AUD1000 due to expensive flight ticket, now… I think I have to increase it to AUD1500 due to the extra one more day in Busan.

Those of you who had been to Korea, what can I do with AUD1000 there? Any suggestion aside from shopping?

It also means I’m gonna miss 3 classes instead of 2 but I’m not alone because many of my classmates will all be back home celebrating CNY, the lecturers will understand hahaha…

All these while I thought I will be spending my CNY in Korea as I didn’t know when 2012 CNY will be, didn’t bother to check but apparently I’ll be spending it in Adelaide hahaha… It’s gonna be a lonely one coz majority of my friends are going back home for CNY.

That’s all for now. Need to hunt for another job for the coming December holiday so that I can get more money for my trip because I do not have AUD1500, still short of few hundreds. My aim is to use the money I earned here instead of using those money sent by my parents. Will only touch that when I’m really desperate. Don’t think will do any traveling in December as need to save all the money for next year’s trip unless got people sponsor me. In my dream only… ;p

I’m Going to Busan, Korea

Posted on November 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on I’m Going to Busan, Korea

Finally got reply from the university in Busan, Korea. Only 10 students from UNISA will be going along with other students from few more universities in Australia, US, Ireland, Malta, Spain, and Norway. I’m the only Malaysian from UNISA and I think I’m the only postgrad that will be going, the rest are undergrads because I was told that it’s actually meant for the undergrads but if my program director allows me to go, I can go.

However, there’s one problem, I have to fork out another AUD1000 just for the flight ticket because the money they provide for the flight ticket is not enough to cover. Even add on with the travel grant given also not enough to cover. The university in Korea is going to pay USD1500/person for return economy flight ticket and my uni is going to give us travel grant of AUD600/person. Means, there’s no extra money at all for me to spend.

Initially thought that the travel grant would be great for shopping add on with my own AUD600 *LOL* but that’s not the case. I checked the flight ticket and found out the cheapest also need AUD2130 -.-” Peak season that’s why. Thank goodness food and accommodation are provided. Still… Forking out AUD1000 from my own pocket is really a lot even though I managed to save this amount from my 3 months plus of working but that’s only flight ticket. OUCH! I still need more not only for shopping but also entertainment and travel to other places nearby such as Japan, Hong Kong, and also the other parts of Korea.

On the other hand, I will be extending my stay here, I will continue to do my master degree. So I’m not going home so soon which can be a good and bad thing. Good, I can stay longer now and get a master degree; bad, more money needed. Seriously have to work more hour or find another job.

20112011

Nice date today! Also, my watch is dead! Battery runs out *LOL* It had stopped working since 00:00:46! I woke up this morning almost gave me a heart attack thought I overslept but apparently it’s only 7am ;p

Sigh… Today found out that two of my very first friends in Adelaide are leaving and by chance they both are heading to the same place, Perth! What a coincidence! Also, they both found their other half at almost the same time. Yet… Me? I’m still here, still hunting, still searching, still trying to discover my destiny. Just sent one off just now. Another one… Might not be seeing him anymore until maybe when one day I go to Perth.

No reply from Korea yet regarding the scholarship. Still waiting… Quite scary… If I don’t get it, it will mean I’m going home reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal soon! I just arrived and now need to prepare to leave, gosh! I want to stay longer πŸ™ Life just started to get interesting and I’m leaving soon even though there’s about 7 months more to go but I’m already here for almost 8 months. See how fast it went without realizing it?

I’m supposed to go to uni computer pool for my usual routine but decided I’ll just stay home because it’s already 5pm, the most I’ll stay until 7pm, time too short to do much thing. Feel a bit down too with the news I’m getting. Sigh…

That’s all for today. It’s Monday tomorrow, new week is coming, exam is nearer too. Then Christmas will be here, then 2012 will come. ARG!

Take care everyone! Enjoy the final months of 2011.

Final two videos of Credit Union Christmas Pageant 2011.

In less than a month exam will come soon! So fast… Now busy with the final assignment and preparing to shift to exam mood. At the same time, busy socializing and busy streaming TV series in uni also ;p

Enjoy the weekend! Might go play tennis tomorrow or might go swim, or neither. We’ll see how…
