Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences

Posted on May 12, 2015May 13, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences

Last Friday, was invited to Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences for a get together with hoteliers, medias, and partners. Third time here. First time to visit a friend; second time with colleagues; and third time I’m going as a blogger. We’re invited to view their refurbished superior rooms.

This is how the refreshed room looks like. Not bad, very cosy and the bed looks inviting hahaha… I would jump on the bed if I get the chance 😛 Two options for you, either a king size (it’s real king size, not two bed joined together or the king that looked like queen) or double single. There’s 32” LCD flat-screen television with Astro channels in-room safe, mini fridge, large glass top working desk and coffee/tea-making facilities. As for the bathroom, you’ll get optional hand-held Rainforest shower.

This hotel is known for its apartment/serviced residence. These images showing the living area and the dining area. Very cosy as well. The kitchen is fully equipped. They also have washing machine and dryer, good thing to have, you’ll need this when you travel with your family, otherwise you will have tonnes of laundry to wash after you got home from your trip. Great for long term stay and for holiday with family. There’s two-bedroom and three-bedroom for you to choose.

Not to forget complimentary parking (subject to availability) too if you’re driving, complimentary Wifi access, roof top swimming pool, fitness centre, continental breakfast at rooms and business centre services.

Tempted to experience it? They are currently having newly refurbished “Superior Room Limited Time Offer” at RM165.00nett including continental breakfast for 2 persons and complimentary in room WiFi by 21 May 2015. I think it’s quite worth it. Stay period is valid until 21 August 2015. For reservations, call 082-250958 or e-mail kuching.enquiry@stayariva.com

Lundu-Bau Labour Day 2015 Day Trip

Posted on May 3, 2015May 3, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Lundu-Bau Labour Day 2015 Day Trip

1/5/2015, the long awaited long weekend. For the first time, I didn’t fly anywhere during such holiday. Odd… I know… I’ve been getting lots of queries on why on earth I’m in Kuching at this time of the year *LOL* Boys and girls… I have no idea too… No idea where to go this time and flight ticket is just way too expensive, not worth it to spend like this. So… Just stay home and sleep in, sleep in, sleep in…

First stop was Lundu. Visited my relatives and then we had lunch at the market. As usual, the salt coated prawn is always what we will order whenever we’re here. Be prepared for the long wait especially on public holiday. City dwellers will usually flood this small town on public holidays. These three dishes cost about RM60+. A lot for 3 of us, can actually feed 4. The prawn was different, I guess there’s a bit too much cornstarch that’s why, not dry enough. There’s also cha kueh tiaw and vegetable soup. The former was a bit bland but it’s ok for me; the latter was normal.

After Lundu, we decided to pay a visit to Tasik Biru at Bau. My first time here *LOL*

If you would like to read more about it, just follow this link about the lake.

We spent a short time there only. Just to see the lake that’s all.

On the way home, we decided to stop by Siniawan for its weekend night market. First time here also. The night market only operate on every Fri – Sun, 6:30pm onwards.

It used to be a dead town, always passed by this place on Qing Ming (Chinese old souls day). Once a year we will stop here, just round the place in the car and left.

Recently, they started the night market on the weekend. Never got the chance to go there because it’s just too out of the way and not familiar with the road. The road is so dark at night.

Now that we have the chance, we reached there around 5.30pm. Still easy to find parking. So, best to reach there around this time because it’s hard to park or to move after 6.30pm onwards.

Food wise, there’s a lot of varieties. However, hmmm… Taste wise, just so-so, didn’t try any that made us gone WOW. However, environment was great. This is what matters the most. You can get all the food easily in Kuching too.

The fish ball and meat ball kolo mee here isquite popular. Finally get to try it, hmm… Well… Not my taste. I’m not a kole mee person anyway. However, the meat ball and fish ball were made from real fish and pork, not like the type with lots of flour.

Never miss… Sambal stingray and cuttlefish. Very spicy. It’s Ok.

Food here are priced the same as what you get in Kuching. So, considered it reasonable.

We left at around 7pm, people started to pour in and cars were parking at the roadside already.

That’s the end of my Labour Day day trip. At least I’ve been to all these places already hahaha…

Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015

Posted on April 27, 2015April 27, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015

Exabytes Cloud & E-Commerce Day 2015 happened in Kuching today. I only managed to attend the afternoon session. Very informative session for most I’m sure. For me, it’s all basic knowledge that I already knew. However, great to meet many whom I’ve not met for a long time.

Finally got to experience Google Glass and the Oculus Rift first hand. The former was a meh; the latter was amazing! I was in heels and just had my lunch, was a little dizzy and had not recovered from the shock when I was on the way to the function. I almost got into an accident because of the slippery road and I underestimate the curve of the road. When I tried Oculus Rift, not even 5 seconds, I surrendered. Yes! Sweet Surrender surrendered because she got too dizzy on a roller coaster while wearing the Oculus Rift hahaha…

Brief Encounter with the Stars

Posted on April 19, 2015April 19, 2015 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Brief Encounter with the Stars

It was a busy week last weekend. Kuching was the host of AIFFA (Asean International Film Festival & Award 2015). Was honoured to be able to be part of this prestigious events. Kuching was flooded with stars from ASEAN. Met some of the stars in person too. This post is just going to be a short one. Feeling sick. Just to share some photo opportunities I got last weekend with some of the stars. There were many of them but some were hard to approach.

So, I took photos with stars from Malaysia, Thailand, and Korea. Can you identify them? No prize for the correct guesses hahaha…

That’s all for now. This is how short this post it. Have a great week ahead.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot

Posted on April 12, 2015April 13, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot

I’ve been hearing a lot of good feedback about Vichy but only knew about it too late. This brand is no longer available in Malaysia since March 2012 for reasons that we have no idea of. So I asked my sister to get it from UK.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light Pot, 50ml (£16.00). Not that cheap really.

It claims that…

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light gives, for the first time, Vichy Thermal Spa Water and a micro-encapsulated delivery system of Active Hyaluronine improve the diffusion of moisture into the surface of the epidermis.

The skin feels replenished with water, as if continuously hydrated by misting micro-sprays.The skin is intensely hydrated feeling soothed. It feels supple, refreshed and velvety soft, free of sensation of tightness all day long. The skin is more resilient, with increased suppleness and radiance. It’s effectiveness is proven on 100 women under dermatological control.

The light cream is refreshing and melts into the skin. Non-greasy and non-stick with no sensation of thickness. The Aqualia Thermal range helps fortify and soothe the skin giving it 24 hour hydrating care for use on dehydrated and sensitive skin. Intensely hydrated, the skin feels soother, refreshed and free from sensations of tightness.

Just like using sleeping mask except it doesn’t leave a layer on the face. I only apply this at night either on its own or after toner as I don’t have such luxury of time to apply it in the morning because it doesn’t absorb immediately. Once it melted into the skin, you can feel the softness and suppleness. Great to replenish the moisture loss being in the air-conditioning office during the day and at night. True to its claim. I also wake up with hydrated skin, no oiliness.

As for the smell, it’s not overpowering instead the smell is quite soothing and light.

There’s another version of this, Vichy Aqualia Rich Pot, I think would be too rich for me.

Conclusion, definitely a good product just too bad why it’s no longer being sold in Malaysia, there’s many users here in this part of the world. Why?

Also got another product from Vichy and will review it soon.

Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
