Just For the Sake of CNY Mood

Posted on January 20, 2009January 21, 2009 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Just For the Sake of CNY Mood

*BLEK* As the title said…

This is from F&N. It came in a folder. Great for those that like to collect ang paos. I think it’s very sepcial.

Left: From Cindy. You have to pull to reveal the pocket and the squirrel(or should be rabbit?) will be lifted up also. I pulled too hard and spoilt it ;p
Right: This is nothing special, just like any other ang paos out there from one of the supermarkets here.

These are some ang paos I have at home from shopping at various places lately. In fact there are more but my mother made some CNY decorations with them already ;p

How Are You Spending Your CNY This Year?

Posted on January 19, 2009January 19, 2009 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on How Are You Spending Your CNY This Year?

I’m sure many of you already got plans, packed till you can’t breath. For me? This year is going to be the most quiet year I guess. Every year is quiet enough but this year will be even more quiet. Here’s my plan this year:

1st day:
Wake up at my usual time, almost 10am. Then that’s it. Nothing to do. No visiting relatives(never have such practice) or anyone. Maybe my dad will suggest to drive us around Kuching to see see look look(we do this every year). Might need to buy pizza home as there might be a Malay family coming which it’s non of my business anyway. The pizzas are meant for them as they usually come at around lunch time and we can’t serve our food to them because it’s not halal. What do you expect from the leftover of new year’s eve’s dinner? Afternoon onwards, I guess I’ll just stay at home online, munch on junk food, watch tv, do some readings, or maybe prepare for my presentation and assignment. I would be going to 1 or 2 friends’ house(s) in the afternoon but I feel very lazy this year -.-” We’ll see… Unless somebody comes and “kidnap” me but I kinda doubt that for this year. Usually first day is like this for me.

2nd day:
Wake up at my usual time also. Nothing to do. Will do whatever I’m doing on the first day. Unless got “kidnapped” again hahaha…

3rd day:
No more group visiting. This is my first year without group visiting. Usually people will form groups like colleagues, college friends, or secondary school friends for group visiting on different days but not me. I don’t have any of those except college friends but this year we are doing it differently coz most are tired of group visiting already. Will have a simple yum cha session at don’t-know-where for like 1-2 hours and that’s it. Call me anti-social, I guess I am hahaha… The rest of the day will be spent the same way as the first 2 days. Again… Unless I got myself “kidnapped” by some friends hahaha… How pathetic can that be?

4th day onwards:
Most people start work, me? I will be doing the same thing again unless got “kidnapped”.

That’s how pathetic I am during CNY every year. Many will sure want to be in my shoe for doing nothing and avoid all those nosy relatives during CNY. However, I feel very wasted. I guess next year, I might use this opportunity to go for a holiday somewhere overseas since I won’t be having any class for at least 1-2 weeks so I don’t have to worry about missing any of my class. Then most people aren’t in working mood, I would be freerer and I can travel without worrying about work too. This will be the best time to spend with you-know-who-you-are but I don’t think you will be available and don’t think you will be reading this too and I also don’t know will this dream come true or not.

Any suggestion which country to go during this period of time? Definitely not Singapore(they are having holiday, new year mood too) or Thailand(not really my cup of tea and many people flock there too). I’m thinking of Australia or New Zealand. Hmm… Any suggestion? Of course I have to have the money too at least I can save up the money starting from now.

Then, there’s another problem. I’m going alone? Aih… Pathetic~

Hehehe… Just some random random thoughts. I did seaweed twist just now and my finger is having blister now because of the cutting part and I did it all by myself but luckily my mum came to my rescue my helping to cut the last few else I would still be cutting now.

I’m sure you are busy with CNY preparations. I try to keep myself busy to prepare for it even though knowing that no one will come or any grand celebration. Just want to be in the mood and take this opportunity to do some baking or at least clean the house after one whole year.

I’m not sure about tomorrow, supposed to go shopping with someone but I’m not sure it’s still on or not coz I think I’ve piss the hell out of that person this morning. Sigh… I found out that I can no longer keep my mouth shut when I see something that I don’t like or people trying to take advantage of each other and kept pissing people off with my big mouth.

Spring cleaning will be this weekend, usually we do it 2 days before CNY. Next Monday will be CNY. Time flies…

The Best Job in the World

Posted on January 18, 2009January 18, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on The Best Job in the World

First of all, this is not paid. It’s just something I came across that caught my attention and it’s really interesting. Have you heard of the job called The Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. This is the best job in the world!

Why?
– You only need to work for 6 months and get a 6-figure income!
– You are going to be based on luxurious Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef.
– Flexible working hours.
– Update weekly blogs, photo diary, video updates to report back to the Tourism Queensland and the world, attend ongoing media interviews to promote the island.

OM MY! It’s so interesting. You are qualified to apply if you have these skills:
– Excellent interpersonal communication skills
– Good written and verbal English skills
– An adventurous attitude
– Willingness to try new things
– A passion for the outdoors
– Good swimming skills and enthusiasm for snorkelling and/or diving
– Ability to engage with others
– At least one year’s relevant experience

It has attracted more than 300 applicants from all over the world if I’m not mistaken until the website was down due to the overwhelming responses. Who doesn’t? I’m interested too but I don’t have most of the skills above and so many applicants! How to compete with them? Nevertheless, this job is definitely a job that many people dream of.

You get to see videos of the applicants and they are quite amusing. All sort of people apply for it. As if an online reality show.

6 months only with 6 figures salary and live luxuriously on this beautiful island. How cool is that!??! Hey! If you are interested, why don’t go apply for it then let us know and we vote for you hehehe…

Tri-Garden Hot Pot Steamboat

Posted on January 17, 2009January 19, 2009 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Tri-Garden Hot Pot Steamboat

Went for steamboat dinner with my family last night. Supposed to just have simple dinner by ordering dishes there as there’s 10% discount with My Privilege Book. Then last minute changed plan and ordered their steamboat. Who can resist right? With such cold weather.

So we ordered Big Bone Soup(RM5) for the steamboat base. The soup is quite nice. They gave 3 types of condiments, sesame oil, belacan, and chili oil. I like the chili oil, it’s not that spicy (at least to me). The belacan was quite spicy. As for the sesame oil, didn’t touch at all.

Fish Ball(RM4) and Vegetable Set(RM8).

Lamb Slice (RM10), Chicken Slice (RM6), and Beef Slice (RM10). The beef slice is a bit too tough. The white part was so tough, couldn’t eat those. Felt a bit wasted ordered the beef slice.

Ordered two drinks and two bowls of rice. Total spent last night was RM44+ for 4 of us with 10% off for the food.

The place is not stuffy and quite clean. Prices are quite reasonable and I will go back again next time. Oh… They only open at night but close on 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.

It’s located at Padungan, somewhere opposite of Tao.

Why do you want to dig that far?
