Hoi Tin Lau

Posted on July 6, 2009 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Hoi Tin Lau

Last Friday, Lee’s bro treated us for dinner at Hoi Tin Lau and also to brief us on what to do the next day for his wedding.

Last time Hoi Tin Lau was located at Grand Continental Hotel but now it’s located at a new place at Jalan Mendu. You know… The Dua Puluh Sen and Guardian there, there’s reflexology center too. It’s at the block behind them. Hoi Tin Lau served Chinese cuisine and it’s not halal.

I have no idea of the food name(I’ll just make it up myself) and the prices though. Just show you the photos and all I can say is the food was YUMMY! SERIOUS! It’s really DELICIOUS! I’m out of word to describe. All of them! Ok… Except the peanuts, I don’t like to eat this kind of peanuts ;p It was fully packed that night.

Left: Our appetizer. Sweet & sour midin. First time having this kind of midin. Usually we have it stir fried with belacan or garlic. This is the sweet sour variation, served cold.

Rght: Seafood noodle, it’s green, it should be green if I’m not mistaken. Under the lighting and from the photo it seems green to me but was browned by the sauce. My first time having green noodle ;p

Left: Combination dish, there were 4 types of food there. For the first time, I ate abalone(that’s what Lee told me when I asked him, I’m not sure it’s abalone or not hahaha…). Yea… My first time.

Right: Deer meat cooked with some sauce, don’t know what sauce. Very tender meat. My first time eating deer meat.

Left: Fried kailan, great dish. It’s always one of my favourite. This is my 3rd time having this dish. The one here is different from those I tried before, it had hint of sweetness because pork floss(assuming only, it could be chicken floss) was added.

Right: Butter prawn was great! I prefer this than the one from Sarawak Club. It’s sweeter but the sweetness is different from the sugary sweet. As if marshmallow was used *LOL* Not sure ;p Just judging from the sticky texture. looked as if it’s melted marshmallow. This is one of the best wet style butter prawn for me.

Two thumbs up and two toes up from me!

Just word of warning, the place is extremely noisy. Oh well… It’s like this in many Chinese restaurant anyway. If you are having a stressful day, better don’t go there hahaha…

Gone Are the Trees

Posted on July 5, 2009July 5, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Gone Are the Trees

I’m supposed to do update on yesterday’s wedding but so tired and there are tonnes of photos to filter. Many turned out so bad.

Anyway, I’m sure many of you already know that the trees leading to the airport opposite Premier 101 are gone weeks ago. I managed to take a picture yesterday morning when I was on my way to the wedding. You can now see Four Points from afar. Not in the photo for sure ;p The cars ahead of me blocked the view.

For those who are not local wondering where you should be looking, just look straight ahead. That’s where we used to see trees, lots of trees. Now… It’s so empty, it felt like a foreign place to me.

Just for you information, the trees were removed because of road extension and also to make new flyover. You can read more here…

Loreal White Perfect Radiance Boosting Double Essence with Tourmaline Gemstone

Posted on July 4, 2009July 3, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Loreal White Perfect Radiance Boosting Double Essence with Tourmaline Gemstone

Such long name ;p

Anyway, I got the samples by redeeming it with a printout from its website that I found in facebook. I was given with two sachets and they lasted for 4 weeks.

The essence is enriched with tourmaline gemstone that can help stimulate skin microcirculation which will give you intense radiance and rosy glow.

As you know, Loreal White Perfect range contains Advancde Melano-Block to regulate the melanin production at the source to give you fairer skin.

It also contains Pro-Radiance Complex which is a powerful combination of Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid that help in exfoliating darkened surface dead cells charged with excess melanin to boost skin transparency.

In fact, I was attracted by the “tourmaline gemstone” phrase that made me wanted to try it;p

My verdict? I don’t think I experience any difference hahaha… Did I? I’m not sure hmm… I think I saw some rosy glow, slightly fairer and luminous but I’m not so sure or it might just be psychological effect hahaha…

However, I love the feel after applying it. The skin was so smooth and soft to touch. I applied to my face 2 times a day, day and night after toning and before moisturizing but most of the time at night, I applied it without applying moisturizer after that.

Will I buy it? I might or I might not, I’m not sure. I don’t know how much it costs, if it’s not too expensive as in below RM40, I might but I’m sure it costs more than RM40.

Asam Payak

Posted on July 3, 2009July 3, 2009 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Asam Payak

I think asam payak is no stranger to the locals but I was so wrong. Apparently many don’t know what is asam payak. I tried to find details in Google and got many unrelated results. I can’t seem to find any details for it even wiki didn’t turn up in the result, that’s so odd. I blogged about it years back, now… I’ll blog about it again.

If you’re wondering how’s the taste, it’s sour, very sour but I LOVE it! ;p

In fact this “fruit” (I don’t know which category should it be) is used in many food in Malaysia such as asam laksa or umai. I don’t have much details to share with you. All I can tell you is that it’s sour, only available during its season, June and July(I think… Since I saw it a lot last month and mom bought it this month ;p).

The dish you see here is asam payak served with mixture of belacan, chili, anchovies, sugar and salt. The taste? Sour, salty, and spicy hahaha… Not sweet because less sugar was added and if you have too much sugar for it, it will not taste nice. The main thing to savour is the sourness. It can be served in other way as well but this is the usual way I eat my asam payak.

One word of advise, do not eat too much and when you have empty stomach, you’ll get stomachache.

Get Free Crystal Pendant

Posted on July 2, 2009July 3, 2009 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Get Free Crystal Pendant

This post is not paid. I’m just posting it to share with you since it’s real thing. I got mine already.

Ok… It’s like this, last week I found a site giving out free crystal pendant from Facebook. I clicked on it for fun since I was bored. This site is called eworldgift.com. All you need to do is register as new member of the site and you are entitled to get one free crystal pendant from them. Just follow the instructions in redeeming the gift provided in the site will do.

I made my order on 24th June and it’s sent out on 26th June(I got the notification on this day), it arrived today. In fact it was supposed to be yesterday but no one was around to receive the package from the postman. They’re using registered post.

Consider it fast and the crystal is nicely and securely packed. Oh yea… They provide free shipping.

I was hoping to get something in the bottle. Didn’t expect I got it! What a surprise. The bottle consists of mixture of 3 types of crystal pieces, rose quartz, amethyst, and citrine.

Let me roughly summarize the functions of each of them from the paper they sent along with the gift:

  • Rose quartz: Unconditional love and infinite peace. Good for heart chakra, for attracting love and relationship. Strengthens circulatory system and release impurities from the body fluids. Heals kidneys and adrenal, and alleviates vertigo.
  • Amethyst: Wipe out prejudice, anger, and tension. Magnifies psychic abilities and right brain activities. Strengthens immunity, energizes and purifies the blood. Relieves headache. Allows calm and peaceful sleep if place under the pillow.
  • Citrine: Powerful cleanser for solar plexus and navel chakras. Sign of wisdom and joy. Warming, energizing, creativity. Stimulate digestion, spleen, and pancreas. Alleviates fear, remove guilt, helps stress-caused intestinal and skin problems.

Do you want one too? Go go go go…They have 1000 pendants to give away, so quickly grab yours! There’s still 655 available for grab!(as of the time the post is published)

Do share with me if you got yours, want to see what you got ;p
