Tomato Beef Linguine

Posted on December 12, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Tomato Beef Linguine

OK! It seems like this cooking time these few days πŸ˜› I had always wanted to try to cook pasta not that I had never tried them before, I did a few times but weren’t satisfied with the result. For this, I just added in whatever I think can be added. I didn’t follow any recipe just followed my instinct and used the easiest way as possible.

Ingredients:
– Portion of linguine is up to you.
– Portion of choped garlic is up to you too.
– 1 tin of Prego Spaghetti Sauce(tomato, basil and garlic), it can serve up to 3-4 persons though the tin stated it’s for 2-3, ah well… it’s up to you again. [Updated: I know why now :p Thanks Pretenders, I added half tin of water because I didn’t want to waste the sauce so I diluted those in the tin with water. You can add water if you want to becuase the original texture of the sauce is very thick!]
– Minced beef, if you like a lot of beef, then add more otherwise add less.
– 1 tbsp. of cooking oil or olive oil

Instructions:

1. Boil a pot of water with a bit of salt to taste.
2. Put the linguine in until it’s cooked whereby the colour isn’t that yellowish anymore, it’s something like what you see in the picture above, on the right. While waiting for it to cook, prepare the sauce.
4.Heat oil in wok, add chopped garlic. Then, cook and stir until it turns brown.
5. Add minced beef and stir fry until beef is cooked.
6. Pour Prego Spaghetti Sauce into the wok and let it simmers.

7. Pour the tossed linguine into the sauce and stir fry for a while.
8. Finally it’s ready to be served πŸ™‚
9. You can add some garnishings such as cheese powder or chopped fresh parsley.

The result? Not so bad πŸ™‚
It could be the sauce used because previously I tried with other brand, it’s not that good.

Light & Fluffy Banana Cake

Posted on December 11, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Light & Fluffy Banana Cake

This is my first time making banana cake. Usually mom did it herself. As we had some over-ripe bananas, we decided not to waste it by making cake from it. I got this recipe from mama-diary. I had skipped one ingredient.

Ingredients:
6oz butter
6oz castor sugar
2 large eggs
3 1/2 tbsp yoghurt (I skipped this)
3 large banana, mashed
8oz self raising flour, sifted

If you are using plain flour, use 8 oz plain/cake flour with 1tsp baking powder and 1tsp bicarbonate soda

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius.

2. Cream butter & sugar till light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well.

4. Add smashed banana till well blend. It looks a bit yucky if you know what I mean πŸ˜›
5. Fold in flour to mixture and pour into a greased baking pan.
6. Bake at 180 degree Celcius for 45min – 1hr or till skewer comes out clean.

TADA! πŸ˜› It’s overbaked hahahaha…
The one you see here is the bottom, the top was ugly πŸ˜› too many holes because we poked and poked to make sure it’s cooked. First two times, it’s not cooked. Bake for the 3rd time then it’s done but overbaked. This is because the tray was a bit small, it’s too thick in the middle that’s why need longer time to set. Must go shop for bigger tray.

My first banana cake but I’m not quite into eating banana cake *blek*

Candle Cheesecake

Posted on December 9, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Candle Cheesecake

Ingredients:
16oz cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 tbsp. of self rising flour
biscuit crumbs and melted butter for crust

Instructions:
1. Mix cream cheese and sugar. Remember to cut the cream cheese into small cubes so that you can beat and mix them easily.

2. Add eggs.
3. Fold in self rising flour.

4. Melt butter and biscuit crumbs. Then press on the baking pan. Make sure you cover your baking pan with aluminium foil or oil paper.
5. Pour batter over crust.
6. Bake 175 degree Celcius for 40 minutes.

Left: The final product. Should use a bigger pan. If smaller one is used like what you see here, then it will crack.
Right: The texture is the same as candle cake but this is with cheese and with the crust. However, I would suggest you to just skip the crust, I don’t see any point for having them there.

Oh, you can add 1/2 tsp. of vanilla essence for better taste too. You can also add in other stuffs like mix fruits, nuts etc. as long that you make sure that the batter is creamy enough and no ended up like what I had previously, so chewy until can make into play dough πŸ˜› Summore ended up with stone cheesecake!

Consider it 80% success πŸ˜› Could be better if I used bigger tray.

Possessed

Posted on December 8, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Possessed

This is the first and the last movie of 2006 that I had watched. Yes! My first and my last for 2006, you didn’t read it wrongly. I’m not into movie and not even watching pirated DVDs or VCDs at home.

Got these tickets from someone. Thank you. πŸ™‚ Obviously, I’m going to review this movie today. The tickets’ photo was taken last week and other photos in this post were taken with my brother’s camera phone, I switched phone with him just for this. Went to watched it this afternoon. Mind you that I’m the person that is not into movies, nor a cinema goer. Therefore, I’m just giving feedback as a viewer that doesn’t understand anything about the movie world. It’s very simple, I’m the person that will complain when it’s bad, will compliment when it’s good but will not say anything when it’s just so-so.

Language: Cantonese and a bit of English.
Duration: One and half hour (approximately)
Casts:
Amber Chia, Harisu, Alan Yun, Steve Yap, Smyth Wong, Liu Yan Yan(from china), Sharifah Amani, Monolet(from Philippines).

Summary of the movie:
It’s about Amber (cast by Amber Chia, our very own supermodel) and Li Su (cast by Harisu, a Korean transsexual actress-singer). They are sisters and work as models. Amber lost her memory while Li Su went missing. Amber tried to gain back her memory at the same time she’s seeing “thing”. The “thing” is actually her sister, Li Su. I’m bad in narrating a story/movie. Let’s go directly to the end. Everything unfolds at the end. Amber had killed Li Su because of jealousy. As simple as that. The end!

The audiences:
SUCKS! Same as The Legend of the Red Curse. Why they can keep quite while watching other movies but they can’t shut up for this movie? They talked, talked, talked and talked all tru’ the movie. I’m sure if they are watching other movies, they won’t dare to do that else they would get scolded by people summore I’m sure they won’t even like it themsleves. Hate it!

Mobile phones ringing here and there, answered the phone and talked like no body business. These attitudes sucks! Also, please don’t comment while watching! Why can’t you people shut up and keep the comments till outside the cineplex? Fine! If you want to comment, can’t you lower your voice? The atmosphere is as noisy as what you can get in Kopitiams. Imagine that!

Why I prefer to watch it in the afternoon? I want to avoid these kind of people after what I had encountered when watching Red Curse last time at night, full house summore! I was hoping that only few people would watch it in the afternoon during working hours but argggggg… It’s school holidays now! So, there were many people watching in the afternoon too.

My comments:
It’s way much better than The Legend of The Red Curse in terms of skills and quality. However, there are still loads to brush up. Such as… Hmm… I don’t know. Told you I’m not into movies. Just feel that it needs to brush up. Still have a lot to learn. At least it’s not that hopeless as the previous movie.

One of the parts that I don’t like is that they are trying too hard to introduce Kuching. Too many sccenes taking from on top of Medan Pelita. Hmmm… Maybe they should take views from different angles rather than all from up there. It looks pretty desperate.

The obsessed fan of Amber was damn funny. *LOL* I just couldn’t help it. I’m sure many agreed. I don’t know what is wrong with this part, it’s supposed to scare us, fill us with much suspense but… *LOL*

The horror scenes… They all looked pretty familiar. Had I seen them somewhere? Hahahaha… I used to watch a lot of horror movies at the cinema years back. Some how I’m not into them anymore now. That explains why I don’t visit the cinema too now.

This movie will not give you any nightmares, at least for me.

My last say to this movie is “keep working and learning. You’ll get it right one day”. Oh, here’s the official website of Possessed

There you go… My review of my first and last movie of 2006!

Review It!

Bloggers’ Meet @ Sue’s

Posted on December 3, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Bloggers’ Meet @ Sue’s

The long awaited meet is finally here today. Miracle8 was the first to arrived and I’m the second one. We both tried to look for the unit where Sue’s living and caused a bit of “stir” among her neighbours coz I got the wrong house! Hehehe… I called her mobile phone but it’s forwarded to voicemail, worst… I left Sue’s home phone number at home. At the end, we asked the guard for help *LOL* He was kinda blur with who we wanted to meet. I’m kinda stupid too. I should just tell the guard that we were looking for someone that just got back from the US! Yet I kept telling him that her house was first unit and she’s staying upstair. Hehehe… I forgotten that it’s should be consider the second unit as it’s the second door not the first door. Haven’t been there for quite a while as I used to go there for a swim coz my uncle has a unit there.

Left: Scenery from Sue’s balcony.
Right: Miracle8 bought these! I took the leftover back and I ruined them! πŸ˜› The icings were all over the box because I had forgotten that they could roll!

After both of us got into the house, Robin called to ask for directions. I didn’t know he’s in the apartment area already. I thought Robin and his gang were lost somewhere in the housing estate outside of the apartment. *LOL* After Robin and his gang arrived, Ann and Jee arrived. The last to arrive were Allen and Frankie πŸ˜›

We were served with chocolates! Yummy… I had never had so much chocolate in 2 hours+ in my life. Sugar high now πŸ˜› As we are bloggers, we kept snapping here and there *LOL* How can bloggers live without cameras? You tell me? I know I’ll be suffering withdrawal symptoms if I don’t have my camera with me πŸ˜› We shoot at every available oppotunity hehehe…

We had a great time hearing Sue’s talking about her experiences staying in the US. She did the talking most of the time hehehe… There were so many things for her to share but we had to end the meet around 7pm becuase she had another appointment and I was supposed to get home before 7pm. Had a great time there, meeting bloggers that I had never met before. I prefer something small and intimate meeting like this rather than having a huge party. Ah well… I just don’t like crowds. Photo session is a must for bloggers πŸ˜› We took group photos and went home. Here… You can’t see Sue’s face πŸ˜›

Left-right: Frankie, Chun Chow, Robin, Allen, Ken, Ivan, Miracle8(Boon Kim), Sue and her daughter, Ann and Jee, me and Naomi

Nice to meet all of you! πŸ™‚
