A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 8

Posted on December 8, 2025November 27, 2025 By sweet surrender No Comments on A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 8

This is the last post of my Kyoto and Osaka trip back in April 2025. It was a short trip, but it took me ages to complete this post hahaha!

Goodbye Osaka!

Checked out from Odysis Suites Osaka Airport Hotel . We took the airport shuttle to the airport. It was early, and it was raining. Our timing was perfect! There was no rain when we were in Expo 2025. Phew… If we were to go on this day, it would be a waste of money, time, and energy.

It was such a rush that we boarded the plane right after reaching the gate. No time at all to do a bit of shopping or even sit down at the departure hall.

Hi Vietnam, Hello Kuala Lumpur

We transited through Ho Chi Minh City, then flew to Kuala Lumpur. Spent a night at KLIA2 Tune Hotel before heading back to Kuching. The hotel is convenient for those catching an early flight at KLIA or KLIA2. If you are not into capsule hotels, then this hotel will be a good choice. There’s free shuttle to KLIA.

That’s the end of my family trip to Kyoto and Osaka. It’s short because we spent almost half of the time in transit from airports to hotels. What to do… The flight ticket was only RM1K+ per pax with full-service airlines. If we want shorter travelling time, it would cost at least RM3K per pax! It adds up when you have an entourage of 8. At least my parents get to visit Japan at least once in their lifetime, and going with the whole family.

A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 7

Day 4, it’s time to head back to Osaka from Kyoto. We checked out of Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi, then went to Kyoto Yodobashi for shopping and lunch before taking the Limousine Bus from Kyoto Station to Osaka International Airport.

Lunch at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu in Kyoto Yodobashi

Believe it! It’s my first time having teppanyaki in Japan hahaha…

Arrived Kansai International Airport

We reached the airport not to take a flight but to take the train to our accommodation in Osaka. Before that, we bought food from the airport. After that, we took the train to Rinku-town station, where our 3D2N accommodation was located.

Hotel Room Tour & Review

Odysis Suites Osaka Airport Hotel is a hotel that is only one stop away from Kansai International Airport. It’s very convenient if your flight is early in the morning. They have an airport shuttle included in the room. Booking is needed. However, it is very far from the city centre. Therefore, only stay here if you’re going to the airport to catch an early flight or during rush hour. It will save you time and eliminate unwanted stress to get to the airport on time and comfortably.

Dotonbori & Shinsekai

After checking into the hotel, we headed out to Dotonbori and Shinsekai for a quick visit. The journey was long, as it was far from the key attractions. Dotonbori was packed with people, while Shinsekai was the opposite.

After dinner at Shinsekai’s McDonald’s, we went back to our hotel. So tired! Called it a night early as we’re heading to Expo 2025 the next day.

A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 6

Posted on November 25, 2025November 25, 2025 By sweet surrender No Comments on A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 6

Oh my goodness! I just realized I’ve not completed my April’s Japan’s trip post hahahah! Oppsss… Even Expo 2025 had concluded. Continuing from A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 5 , after Nara, we headed to Fushimi Inari.

Fushimir Inari was so packed! We didn’t spend a lot of time there. Just a short walk to the torii gates, took some photos, and we left. It’s not a place that will interest the children. Off we headed back to Kyoto for dinner.

It’s my first time having gyukatsu. Apparently, it’s Kyoto’s way of having wagyu. It’s an enjoyable dish if you’re a fan of wagyu. You can heat the wagyu to the desired doneness. Hence, it’s great for those who are not into eating bloody beef.

It was a rainy night. We went to do a quick shop, then headed back to the hotel. That’s the end of day 3 in Kyoto.

Easy Milk & Sugar Donuts with Instant Donut Mix

Posted on November 9, 2025November 9, 2025 By sweet surrender No Comments on Easy Milk & Sugar Donuts with Instant Donut Mix

Just get instant donut mix and make donuts. Milk or sugar donuts? Which one is your favourite?

It’s my 3rd purchase of Noraini’s Instant Doughnut Mix. You just need to make sure your yeast is active. Otherwise, all will fail.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup room temperature water
1 Tbsp sugar
5g yeast
1 packet Noraini’s Instant Doughnut Mix (buy here on Shopee https://invl.me/clmtlmg)
50g egg (1 B-size egg)
2 Tbsp butter
Enough cooking to fry
Enough sugar and milk for coating

Steps:

  1. Mix water, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Pour the doughnut mix into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add in the egg, butter, and the yeast mixture into the doughnut mix.
  4. Knead it until it forms a dough. Do it manually or with a mixer.
  5. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Give it a knead and portion it. You can eyeball the portion or weigh with a scale.
  7. Cover it and let it proof for 2 hours or until the size doubles.
  8. Knead it and shape it. I use my finger. You can use a cutter to make a hole in the dough. Up to you. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
  9. Heat the oil and fry the dough.
  10. Coat the doughnut with milk or sugar, or have it plain. Just be creative.
