The just concluded Sarawak election was a no brainer result. Everyone knew who would be losing their seats. I would say the opposition had done quite well even though they didn’t win the majority. Some “big” ones from the governing parties were being kicked off their seats which in my opinion is a very heavy impact for certain party. Then again, these are the people whom people wanted the most to go.
However, I would say this time the vote is not vote of confidence but it’s more of the protest vote. I know I have no rights to say much about this election as I didn’t vote this year because I’m not in Kuching else I would be helping out with the campaigning and working in the polling centre on that day. Due to some personal reasons, even my family wasn’t involve.
I got my updates from Twitters and Facebook about the campaigning news. I hate to say this but I really feel that the “outsiders”(don’t care they are here for the government or the oppositions) shouldn’t talk too much or teach us how to govern the state as if they are the locals. We are very different from other states of Malaysia, you don’t talk like as if you are the locals and know Sarawak from the back of your hand. It should be the candidates here whom should be talking but sadly… It’s not the case.
What were the local candidates doing? You are the one that should be working with the people, not those “outsiders”. What worst when they get the facts wrong!
It’s really simple really, it’s just those few key people that had made the whole thing so difficult. If they had stepped down earlier, it won’t be so ugly for them I guess… It’s embarassing for sure, imagine the second top official of the state got voted off!
I would say it’s an interesting one this time because the whole of Malaysia and the world were practically very concern with this election. Suddenly, Sarawak became so popular!
Anyway, it’s over. It’s back to square one really. No matter who wins, life still goes on. It was just a temporary hu-ha to make Sarawak happening *LOL* Just hope the people who made it through will really serve the people but for the case in my area… I didn’t see any from them. Only petty issues. Then again, who cares? The next time around, they will still let the person wins because they are giving their protest votes instead of confidence vote. Confidence vote will never really come for few more terms.
