My Yen Chinese Restaurant

Posted on December 26, 2011December 28, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on My Yen Chinese Restaurant

Had a farewell/graduation dinner with those from my workplace and their families about a week ago. We had it at My Yen Chinese Restaurant loacted at 74 Belair Road, Hawthorn. It’s one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. I took a bus there, almost missed the stop. Really hate taking public transport even though the system here is good. I’m such a spoil brat ;p

I have no idea what the actual food we had, just let you see the photos hehehe…

It was such a BIG dinner! We have 12-course meal! Surprisingly our table cleared most of the plates but not the other tables hehehe… We’re such big eater. There’s a plate of cracker (not sure is it prawn crackers, could be) for you to savour before waiting for the food to be served. It’s kind of tasteless.

Left: Steam oyster with ginger & shallots.
Right: Salt & pepper squid with shredded chicken meat.

Left: Hun siu chicken shark fin soup.
Right: I’m not sure what’s this hahaha… I heard there’s abalone in there. *shrug* I only know there’s mushroom and green vegetable. I’m not familiar with all these rich people food such as abalone, lobster, shark fin, bird nest, and so on and so forth *LOL*. I don’t eat these back home and never dream of eating them unless it’s served in a dinner banquet. We don’t buy these stuffs to eat at home.

Left: Lobster with noodle with ginger & shallot, love this! My first time having lobster too.
Right: Pei pa duck.

King prawn with macadamia nuts & snow peas and Seafood fried rice.

Left: Steam coral trout with ginger & shallot.
Right: Roast chicken with num yu sauce.

Left: Red bean soup, extremely sweet but it tastes good because haven’t have one for soooo looooong…
Right: Red wine… I don’t like it. It took me whole night to finish half glass of red wine and stained my lips badly -.-” I prefer white wine but will avoid drinking any alcohol if possible.

What a night! So much food! Also, so much rich-people-food in a night ;p Overall, the food was great.

Merry Christmas 2011

Posted on December 25, 2011December 26, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Merry Christmas 2011

My first Christmas in Adelaide.

Photo taken after 12 hours of Christmas’ eve cum birthday party at a friend’s house.

At 10.45am, 24/12/2011, my friend came to pick me up to do a bit of last minute shopping for the BBQ marathon of the day, karaoke whole day too. We started BBQ at noon.

The weather was scorching hot. Damn hot! Worst than Malaysia. I’m such a good girl, didn’t even touch single alcoholic drink 😉 It was also birthday party for 3 friends.

Left: Group photo of the girls at the party. Some left earlier, these are those still there at 10.30pm. Most guys were drunk already. Most of the girls were sober because not many of us drank.

Right: In fact, some of us left the party at around 8.45pm to catch the Christmas Light Show at Salisbury. It was dissappointing. Was hoping to see lots of houses with colourful lights but we were greeted by only 2 houses.

This is one of the houses.

This is another one. Drove so long and only saw two houses with the lights. Well… Along the way, there’s random houses with Christmas lights but they were not as great as these two. Not sure all together how many at this area but we only saw two major ones.

We rushed back to the party before 10.30pm to join the birthday celebration. We’ve been basically eating and drinking (including non-alcoholic drinks) for almost 12 hours before calling it a night. The poor guys were out there BBQ for us and we ladies all hid inside the house for air-conditioning. It’s sooooo hot.

Christmas morning, went to church. It was so hot in the church and felt like fainting -.-” Twice! After the service, we had tea break, yummy cake!

I’m leaving Adelaide soon… Gosh! It’s getting closer and closer. I’m still not that prepared to go to Korea. My packing not really done yet, no idea what to bring.

Going to have another BBQ tonight. Will prepare for tonight now. Merry Christmas and Happy new year!

Carols by Candlelight

Posted on December 22, 2011December 25, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Carols by Candlelight

Last Sunday night was the annual Carols by Candlelight at the Elder Park. Was curious about it so decided to went there to have a look. Some more, it’s just opposite the place I’m staying.

Soooo many people. You have to donate when you go in, I think you can donate whatever amount you want. I think… Was caught by surprise that we need to pay to go in and I didn’t have much money with me. Thought of leaving but at the end we still went in since we’re already out and there’s no place to go.

I’m there!

It was raining non-stop since the morning and finally the weathe cleared in the evening.

It was quite cold that night, brrrr… Didn’t wear much so went home before it ended. Besides, I didn’t pay attention there too, was busy talking with my friend. Heard fireworks but didn’t bother to check it out as I’m already so tired after picking cherries under the rain that afternoon.

Cherry Picking @ Forest Range Cherries

Posted on December 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Cherry Picking @ Forest Range Cherries

Las Sunday, made an impromptu decision to go cherry picking with friends from church. We went to Forest Range Cherries for it. The weather wasn’t kind to us, it rained whole day long. It didn’t stop us from going.

Greeted by the Christmas Cherry Train.

Picking cherries in the rain. Entance fee $4/adult but if you pick more than 4kg, then your entrance fee will be waived, only applicable to adult. Children below is $2/child.

Two types of cherries:
Left: The usual ones that can be found in the market.
Right: White cherries, it’s limited, only a few, not much left. We didn’t know it’s white, we’ve never seen one, thought it’s white in colour but it’s not ;p We were wondering whether we’ll have the luck to pick some not knowing that the other girl whom was with us had been picking it from the beginning *LOL* we joined her, found out that it’s different from the one we’ve been picking, so picked some and tried some. The texture is soft but we didn’t know this is the so called white cherry because no one looked at the flesh when eaten but just popped into our mouths hahaha… Only found out about it before we called it a day ;p very silly.

Left: Some of my harvest, I only picked about 700gm+ ;p ate a lot while picking. Didn’t intend to pick a lot also. Just to experience it only.
Right: Red and white.

After picking, we headed home. Guess what?!?! The sun was out!

LUS Wine Hand and Foot Masks

Posted on December 18, 2011December 20, 2011 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on LUS Wine Hand and Foot Masks

Was invited to try LUS Wine Hand and Foot Masks 2 months ago. I thought it was a good idea so I agreed to it since it’s summer now and you’ll need nice foot to show off! I’ve been suffering from a bit of peeling and dry heels for quite some times. Finally I got it in November. Only managed to use it in December first thing after exam to pamper myself.

LUS Wine Foot Packs helps to delay the aging process thus keep the skin surface fresh and clean. After usage, your hand and feet will feel increase in elasticity, soft and supple.

BENEFITS
1) Kill Germs & Bacteria
2) Calm’s soothen skin’s surface
3) Moisturizing skin’s surface
4) Remove skin debris
5) Reduce & Remove wrinkles
6) Remove Dead Skin cells

Check out the ingredients. It contains alcohol, well… So obvious! It’s a type of wine mask, what do you expect?

My verdict:
I don’t like the smell. The smell is extremely strong, gosh! However, for the sake of beauty, I put up with the smell. No before and after photo because it shows no difference at all. I felt a bit of effect after using it but after few huors later, it’s back to usual. I guess you just have to use it few times to see the effect. I guess I should use the other mask for the feet first before using this as maintenanace. Will blog about it in a month as need time to see the result.

The Wine Hand Packs are also having the similar benefits.

No before and after photo too. I totally forgot about it ;p

My verdict:
This did show me more obvious effect and lasted for quite awhile along with the constant application of lotion/moisturiser daily. My hands feel soft and less dry. I’ve been using my hand a lot since I’m here, need to wash my clothes and dishes, and also my work requires me to use a lot of my hands.

Again, the smell… I really don’t like the smell. It’s extremely strong. I guess those who like wine might like it but not me.

Christmas is coming, new year is coming, CNY is on the way too… Guess it’s time to show your best to your friends and family during these holiday seasons.

Don’t wait, do get it at Supermodel’s Secrets for RM 12 for 1 packet / RM 30 for 3 packets (1 box) (price quoted without shipping) or get it from Sasa outlets in Malaysia.
