Almost a Week! One More Week!

Posted on January 15, 2012January 15, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Almost a Week! One More Week!

WOW! Time flies! I haven’t update this blog for almost a week and this is the final week for me in Busan. Will be flying off Sunday night and reach Adelaide on 24th January, 2nd day of CNY.

It’s been so busy. We had so much planned for us, very intensive indeed. I got an infection on the bottom of my right foot due to the splinter I got from Adelaide before I go to the airport. It happened while I took out the garbage. Thought that it would be fine since I couldn’t find anything and thought that it came out on its own but ended up, it didn’t. Some more with my almost daily drinking since I arrived, it didn’t heal and got worst. I went to the clinic in the university and was given with antibiotic and was told to stop drinking. *LOL* At least, now it’s getting better phew… Still I don’t dare to drink until it really heals. Amazing how I got consultation, daily dressings, and medicines without even paying a single cent! If this happens in Australia, I will be soooo broke I guess. However, I think my insurance should be covering it.

I just got back from weekend homestay. It was awkward but at the same time, it was interesting to see how Koreans live. Was also shocked to found out that I alighted the subway on the 9th floor underground! WOW! Actually, should say I was inside the mountain. We had to take a lift up to get out of the subway station. Impressive! The subway system here is amazing! Linking the whole South Korea going underground, inside hills and mountains.

The weather here isn’t that cold but once there’s wind, it’s really cold. In fact the temparature is around what I got in Adelaide during winter night. As compare to Seoul, Busan is much warmer. Seoul is freezing! Didn’t get the chance to go to Seoul due to packed schedule. Oh well… I’ll be in Seoul for my flight though ;p transferring from Gimpo to Incheon.

Having great time with the buddies here. Sadly it’s ending soon but at the same time I’m looking forward to go back to Adelaide, going back to the place without communication problem *LOL* Overall, things are not so bad here but still a bit hectic, crowded, and very limited English used here. It’s quite inconvenient when go shopping or order food without our Korean buddies.

Managed to shop quite a fair bit of skincare products, they’re really heavy! Thought of getting another luggage but I think I’m not going to do so. I’ll try to fit in everything into my luggage or else might just ship them back since postage here is quite affordable. We’ll see.

Time to sleep now! Anyeong!

Glasses Dilemma

Posted on January 11, 2012January 11, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Glasses Dilemma

Those who are wearing glasses definitely will experience something like annoying reflection, fingerprints, dust, oil and so on every single day. I can’t stand all these on the glasses. I would always want to clean it, it’s annoying that’s why I seldom wear glasses but mostly contact lens.

With the new technology available now known as the oleophobic coating, worry no more! This technology repeals water, oil, dust and fingerprints, while having the ability to reduce annoying reflections. This will allow easy care for your lens and less frustration in wearing glasses. Wish I have one now so that I can enjoy wearing my glasses. Maybe I should ask about it the next time I want to get my glasses changed.

Wonder where can you get this? You can try to check out Zenni Optical but do bear in mind that it’s not located in Malaysia or Australia. It’s an online shop that specialized in various type of glasses. They offer high quality frames with reasonably good price. Whether you need prescription glasses or sunglasses or just glasses for fashion, do head over there.

You’ll never know what you will find there, it must be interesting to browse around. Lastly, don’t forget that you must always get your eyes check and get the correct prescriptions.

We went to Seomyeon after UN Memorial Cemetery.

It’s one of the major shopping places in Busan. Another group went to Nampodong.

Random photos of the street.

Left: Their cafe is so unique! You’ll get a room for you and your friends and each room has different interior design. Must go there one day.
Right: The karaoke.

We were not in time to go back to the dorm for dinner so we settled our dinner here. I have no idea of the name of the place. Our Korean buddies just brought us here. These are just some of us, later at the night, more came to join us as we splited into 3 groups to roam Seomyeon. All girls, no boys. Those in Nampodong had mixture of boys and girls.

Left: Makoli, nice but it’s still alcohol. It’s not difficult to drink though. Quite light and fizzy.
Right: We have bibimbap and soup noodle.

Also, two different type of Korean pancake (jeon), tuna and kimchi.

Not sure of the total of the dinner but each of us paid KRW7000. So cheap! Definitely cannot have such feast with AUD7/person in Australia.

Views from my bedroom balcony. Very nice views!

Finally the class started on 2/1/2012. Woke up early to prepare for orientation.

Breakfast at the cafetaria with new friends we met. They’re all Koreans and Australians. It’s interesting to see so many eye candies hehehe… Sitting next to one is even more exciting ;p

Orientation in the lecture hall. Then, we headed for lunch.

Views of some parts of the university.

After that, we walked to the UN Memorial Cemetery. Suddenly, the street of Busan was filled with foreigners!! Took lots of photos. The Korean girl standing next to me is my roommate aka Korean buddy.

This is with another Malaysian, only two Malaysians. She’s studying in Brisbane.

The view of the cemetery.

We should be quiet and solemn but we made so much noise.

Even took photo like this in such place. So inappropriate… All the others were looking at us when we took this photo ;p We’re so hyper.

Anyway, it was fun. To be continued…

PKNU Cultural Exchange – 1.1.2012 (Part 2)

I took the Airport Railway to Gimpo Airport as it’s much easier.

Got the ticket from the vending machine. I fell asleep so many times on the train. So exhausted!

Finally I’m in Gimpo Airport. I just followed the crowd. Was almost denied entrance to the departure hall because of the name difference on my boarding pass and my passport because it’s too long, the ‘g’ in my name was omitted. I tried so hard to explain in English and use sign langugage as I don’t know any Korean language, it was a bit frustrating. Luckily I was allowed to go in at the end.

According to my buddy, I’m the first one to arrive. So early in the morning. This is the place I’m going to stay for the next 3 weeks. We had problem figure out how to use the heating system. I was thinking to get a shower the first thing I arrived but ended up napping first because the water was too cold and need time to heat up.

Left: My name tag and room key. So special, it’s so small, just scan the tiny little card to unlock the room door.

Right: The main entrance of Pukyong National University.

The view from one of the section of the university.

Random street view on the way for my early dinner at 4pm+

The side dishes.

Left: Kimbap, my roommate’s dinner.
Right: I don’t remember what’s this, I’m not the one ordering it and everything was in Korean, I got no clue ;p Anyway, I paid KRW3000 for my dinner.

Called it an early night at around 9pm. Classes start the next day, there’s no such things as replacement holiday for the new year here.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
