33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition

Posted on June 4, 2007November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 18 Comments on 33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition

Went to 33rd Sarawak Mandarin Singing Competition last night at Kenyalang Theatre. The entrance fee cost me RM10 and in return I got to have naps on and off *LOL* Boring… At least for me, was quite awaked when the first 4 contestants sang, then after that I took many naps. Really not my type summore almost half of the contestants sang the same song!! This competition was jointly organised by Sarawak Singing Council and Kota Samarahan Music Friendship Society. It started on Friday night and the final was last night. Previous 2 nights tickets were RM5 each.

The tickets and the stage.

Left: The announcers
Right: A female singer sang to test the sound system before starting the contest.

The female contestants.

Left: Performance by a little girl before the break.
Right: After quite a long break, finally it’s the male contestants turn to go up. However, before that a male singer sang for sound test.

The male contestants.

Before announcing the result, they had closing ceremony speeches and took down the flag from the pole.

Left: Handed the flag over to next year’s organiser. I don’t know who. πŸ˜› Told you I’ve been napping on and off.
Right: The contest summary by one of the judges.

Left: Giving grand prize to the best association. Miri won it.
Right: Waiting for the second and first place winners to be announced.

BDC Interchange

Posted on May 13, 2007May 13, 2007 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on BDC Interchange

These are the photos while the constructions were still going on.

TADA! It’s launched on the 10th of May 2007. This flyover costs RM220 million. ItÒ€ℒs completed in just 8 months!!! EH! Realiable or not ah? Don’t later be like that KIA got leakage from the ceiling at the check-in counter area. The hornbill is placed back! Can you see it? Somewhere in the middle of the picture. It’s one of our popular landmarks.

More shoots from different side of the flyover.

By the way, the landscaping is not done yet. They are in the process of doing it.

So you will be greeted by this flyover and interchange when you are going down to Kuching city center from the airport. Hopefully traffic jam can be reduced at this area.

Sama Jaya Forest Park

Posted on May 5, 2007May 4, 2007 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on Sama Jaya Forest Park

Sama Jaya Forest Park is very popular among joggers. It’s situated near Stutong Park(that housing estate should be known as this I think :P), opposite the police quarters at Tabuan area. We were supposed to be going to Damai but at the end the cosplayers changed their mind and decided to go somewhere near. We were there from noon to around 4pm. I didn’t expect that there were so many people actually jogged there at around 1pm-3pm.

We have Malaysia China Friendship Park(1) (2) at Jalan Song. Here, we have Hiroshima-Sarawak Friendship Garden. This garden is only open when you request for it.

There’s a Japanese Tea House in there but not sure how it functions. Maybe you need do reservation or something to be able to use it. Hmmm…

Left: Parking space.
Right: There are many buildings there and don’t ask me what are they for. I have no idea. It’s too hot to walk around to explore them.

While waiting for the cosplayers to complete their filming. We went jungle tracking. Beware of mosquitoes, monkeys and falling branches! Almost got attacked by the monkeys when we tried to take photos of them. So, don’t play play. Hahaha… Don’t feed them too. The track is 1600m long and it took us about 20+ minutes to finish the track by walking.

Some flowers. Nothing much.

Left: The reflexology path. It’s much bigger than the one at Jalan Song and it has various levels.
Right: It was super hot! I was so bored. Took some photos and that’s it. Nothing interesting to see. No nice flowers. The plants there looked like in the a very pity stage.

Jalan Song

Posted on May 1, 2007May 1, 2007 By sweet surrender 18 Comments on Jalan Song

Down, still down! Streamyx SUCKSSSSSSSSSS! Tomorrow is still a holiday!!! GRRRR!!! I’m borrowing my friend’s line now.*SIGH*

Let me present to you, Jalan Song. One of the food galores in Kuching. It’s always packed almost every night. Well… It won’t be that packed if there is no pirated DVDs or VCD on sale. Still, this is the place to get all kind of food. From local food such as laksa, kampua, kolomee… To international food like western and japanese food.

(Right photo)Here’s where people digging for pirated DVDs and VCDs. If you know how to bargain, it’s going to be dirt cheap. Quality wise, you have to depend on your luck. Fight piracy! Does it work? I don’t think so hahaha… When there is such demand, I don’t think there is anyway to stop it. In this situation, if the enforcement officers suddenly came, can you imagine how the scene will be? WOW!

Met Lee, Johnson and Nick(mystery guest of the day) and we ordered some food for supper. I only remember to take two photos of the food that I’m craving for hahaha… The rest I forgot. Hehehe… We ordered Takoyaki, Uncle BOB Fried Chicken Fillet, “zhu chang fen”(no photo) and kampua(no photo).

Uncle BOB Fried Chicken Fillet gains its popularity last year at Kuching Festival Food Fair. However, it doens’t taste so good last night, kinda tasteless compare to those times I had at the food fair. You can have spicy or original, each costs RM4.50.

Then, this is Takoyaki, They claimed that it the first Kuching. It was in The Borneo Post, PostMag before. I had a sudden crave for it actually, that’s why we ended up at Jalan Song πŸ˜› Hehehe… One box is RM3.50, each box consisted of two octopus takoyaki and two prawn takoyaki. I love the bonito that were sprinkled on top, they looked plastic like hahah… Takoyaki tastes odd for those who have it for the first time. Once you get used to it, it’s quite delicious hehehe… *drool* Does the real takoyaki tastes like this? I’m not sure. Wait till one day I visit Japan for it hahaha… In my dream…

So, that’s all about Jalan Song. It’s not in the city center. The only way is to get there by taxi or drive yourself there. Not much food choices during day time but at night you will be spoilt with so many choices. Hmm… I’m still craving for more takoyaki -.-”

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
