Kuching Festival Parade 2007

Posted on August 5, 2007August 6, 2007 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Kuching Festival Parade 2007

Warning: Pictures overloaded!!

OK… The following photos are all taken yesterday. Very colourful parade compare to last year’s. Enjoy… I’m not going to say much about it. Too many things need to do. Someone just got my “bombed”, hehehe… Sorry πŸ˜›

Due to the sudden demised of our Mayor, the celebrations were quite low key. Usually there will be fireworks but not yesterday. Besides, the nightly performances at the food fair were cancelled too.

Right: Some of the cosplayers from Swinburne.

One group was walking barefooted!! -.-“

Lion dancing on moving truck -.-” So dangerous.

Top & bottom left: These will give you nightmares πŸ˜›

Right: The cosplayers that were left behind because they were late *LOL*

After we were done with our dinner and video shooting at Kuching Festival, we went over to Padang Merdeka where the parade ended there and there were performances by each contingent in front of the main stage. So many people! I hate crowds! This is my first time there and will be my last time too. The photo on the right showing the participants resting after their performance.

Food post coming up…

Kuching & I

Posted on August 4, 2007August 4, 2007 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Kuching & I

I’m sorry for the ads lately. Really need the money πŸ˜› Hehehe… They are too good to resist but I did come out with quality posts right? *looking innocently at you* Please don’t leave me…

πŸ˜› Actually this newspapers interview was published last Saturday but I’m so lazy to post it up as I was lazy to scan the newspapers until a friend sent the softcopy to me hehehe… Might as well post it up here. First page summore! My mom exclaimed, “What are you doing in the front page of the newspapers!?!?!” *LOL* As she doesn’t know how to read Chinese.

Goshh… I should have give him my own photo hahaha…

If you are wondering what is the content is all about it’s about my opinion about Kuching and Kuching Festival. Click on the picture to view the full article.

For those that have no idea how to read, I’ll give you a summarised translation of it. At least I can translate better than those that do translation for our subtitles in TV and movies hahaha…

I’m happy to live in Kuching. Kuching is a nicer place to stay compare to West Malaysia. Kuching is small and everyone practically knows each other.

However, I don’t like the public transport here. It’s very hard to travel without our own transport. I heard about tourists lamented about this problem too.

Next, it’s no longer safe anymore. Too many crimes happening. I don’t feel safe. Even tourists also fell victim to these crimes.

Our salary is quite low also. Prices of things are increasing. Many people are not very happy about it.

As for Kuching Festival, it’s meant to commemorate the elevation of Kuching from town to city status, there should be some exhibitions about the history of Kuching. This will let the younger generations know about the purpose of the celebration instead of only know how to have fun.

I’m glad to see that many people from all walks of life support this festival.

Khoon Chai, thanks for the interview πŸ™‚

Song Kheng Hai Hawker Center (1)

Posted on August 1, 2007August 8, 2007 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Song Kheng Hai Hawker Center (1)

My mom asked me to cook rice last Sunday but I forgot to press the “cook” button of the rice cooker -.-” It was 2pm+ already when they got back. So we decided to go out to eat else we need to wait till almost 3pm then could have our lunch.

Went to Song Kheng Hai Hawker Center to have our lunch as the last resort because many places were closing.

Many people still having their lunch and you can see birds everywhere, on the table, on the floor, looking for food.

Left: Belacan beehoon… Yummy… Heavenly πŸ˜› It smells like smelly socks according to the many foreigners. One of the best belacan bee hoon is available here.
Right: Cha kueh… I love the cha kueh here. This is the best cha kueh in Kuching for me. Oh well… I grew up eating them so I tend to compare others’ with this one. Last time, long long time ago, almost 20 years ago -.-” OMG… Time really flies… So old already, oh dear… We used to buy them outside Capitol(Or “Capital”? I got mixed up already :P) Cinema where Tun Jugah building is now.

Left: Fried beansprout noodle. I like this noodle too, the sweet type, not the salty one.
Right: Noodle in soup with fishballs.

The stalls no longer operating in the evening since few years back. Their business is always very good as they are mostly hawkers that started their business since decades ago. Not only our elders like them but the younger generation too as we all grew up eating these food.

Circle Of Amour – Mission Accomplished!

Posted on July 31, 2007February 28, 2022 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Circle Of Amour – Mission Accomplished!

Hahaha… Well… I didn’t intent to do that actually. I managed to have photos taken with two reknown photographers in Malaysia! It’s just for fun πŸ˜› Managed to get Kid Chan and Alvin Leong to take photos with me.

This is my first time meeting Kid Chan in person. Must take this opportunity to take photos with him! Very humble guy. When we asked to have our photos taken with him, he said that he wanted our photos too and passed us his camera so that he could also have a copy of our photos with him. Hahaha…

As for Alvin, πŸ˜› I have many photos of him in action *LOL* Just never have picture taken with him. It’s not the first time meeting him anyway. He’s a friend of mine hahaha…

So… Mission accomplished! This is the end of the Circle Of Amour report by Sweet Surrender.

Kuching Festival 2007 (1)

Posted on July 30, 2007November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Kuching Festival 2007 (1)

The line is back on 12am+ today. Tonnes of work need to be done πŸ™

On the 28th of July, before going to Alvin Leong Photography bridal fashion show, we decided to had dinner at Kuching Festival since it’s still early summore we couldn’t think of where should we have our dinner. For the sake of blogging hehehe… We went there to cover the food fair but due to Streamyx down time. I could only post it now. *SIGH*

It was the first day of the food fair. We only managed to visit the food stalls as we were running out of time.

As usual, food stalls… Food, food, food…

Left: We briefly visited the Garden Show. It’s a bit different compare to last year and the walking path is quite narrow.
Right: Balloons…

Our dinner.

Left: Chicken rice(RM3.50), not worth.
Right: Forgot what this is called. Chicken Popiah(RM3)? So-so only…

Left: “Chu chang fen” with sweet sauce, I don’t know what it’s called in English, RM3 or RM3.50, forget already. Not so bad but a bit dry because it’s not your usual “chu chang fen” that serves with slightly a bit of soup or sometimes they were fully soak in the soup.
Right: I have no idea what this is called. Hahaha… It cost us RM3. It’s a type noodle. Don’t know how to explain. In mandarin is “gan fen”(if not mistaken).

We left before it rained! Phew… I heard that the rain was very heavy but that time we were at Permata Carpark for the fashion show already.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
