Sharing some memorable moments.

I’m Going to Busan, Korea

Posted on November 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on I’m Going to Busan, Korea

Finally got reply from the university in Busan, Korea. Only 10 students from UNISA will be going along with other students from few more universities in Australia, US, Ireland, Malta, Spain, and Norway. I’m the only Malaysian from UNISA and I think I’m the only postgrad that will be going, the rest are undergrads because I was told that it’s actually meant for the undergrads but if my program director allows me to go, I can go.

However, there’s one problem, I have to fork out another AUD1000 just for the flight ticket because the money they provide for the flight ticket is not enough to cover. Even add on with the travel grant given also not enough to cover. The university in Korea is going to pay USD1500/person for return economy flight ticket and my uni is going to give us travel grant of AUD600/person. Means, there’s no extra money at all for me to spend.

Initially thought that the travel grant would be great for shopping add on with my own AUD600 *LOL* but that’s not the case. I checked the flight ticket and found out the cheapest also need AUD2130 -.-” Peak season that’s why. Thank goodness food and accommodation are provided. Still… Forking out AUD1000 from my own pocket is really a lot even though I managed to save this amount from my 3 months plus of working but that’s only flight ticket. OUCH! I still need more not only for shopping but also entertainment and travel to other places nearby such as Japan, Hong Kong, and also the other parts of Korea.

On the other hand, I will be extending my stay here, I will continue to do my master degree. So I’m not going home so soon which can be a good and bad thing. Good, I can stay longer now and get a master degree; bad, more money needed. Seriously have to work more hour or find another job.

Farewell Dinner at Ky Chow

Posted on October 18, 2011October 18, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Farewell Dinner at Ky Chow

One of my friends here is leaving… Gonna miss her soooooo much! She’s one of the friends here that I can share my problems with especially in the relationship department, we have the same expectations, we understand what each other had gone tru’ which usually most people will not understand, no wonder we clicked. We’ve only known each other for 6 months but we had bonded, too bad now she’s back in Malaysia for good.

We went to Ky Chow again. This time for farewell dinner. Supposed to be 10 of us, at the end only 8 of us.

Left: Hot & Sour Seafood Soup (AUD4.50), it’s quite spicy if you can’t tolerate spiciness. The soup was quite thick. Sour and spicy enough.
Right: Shallot Pan Cake (AUD5), it wasn’t so bad.

Left: I don’t remember what’s this, had it previously. I can’t seem to locate it in the menu. Should be sweet & sour chicken, there’s sweet & sour pork in the menu though.
Right: Granny’s Bean Curd with Prawns Hot Pot (AUD14.80).

Left: Had Chinese Fruit Hawthorn Pork ribs (AUD11.80) previously too.
Right: Salty Fish Egg Plant Hot Pot (AUD10.80), had this previously too hahaha… Apparently my friends kept ordering the same dishes means these are the recommended ones by them.

Left: *LOL* I have no idea what is this. It’s a type of beef dish, tried to locate it in the menu but none of them ring a bell.
Right: Group photos. Our 2 male coursemates didn’t turn up last minute. It should left only 6 girls for the dinner but the other two brought their boyfriends(not our coursemates) along. Only 3 Malaysians, the rest were from different parts of China. I guess you can easily spot who are from Malaysia and who are from China 😉

Gonna miss my friend for sure. I sent her to the airport last Saturday. Thought I will not cry but ended up I cried -.-” ARG! So embarassing ;p

Sigh… Everyone is leaving yet I’m trying hard to stay.

Oh Needles!

Posted on October 12, 2011October 14, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Oh Needles!

I think many of you don’t know yet… I don’t think I announce this before because it’s not confirmed yet. Or did I mentioned about it? I think I did. Whatever it is, here’s the progress, I’m shortlisted.

I had applied to be an exchange student in one of the universities in Busan, Korea, next year January for 3 weeks. It’s a schorlarship. I’m currently in the midst of getting the needed documents ready for submission and wait for green light from the Korea’s side. Submitted everything except medical exam report. Need to be certified that I’m not Hepatitis B and TB carrier.

Went to one medical centre to another just to get the test done and made appointment. Luckily it’s all nearby, around the corner.

Left: Yesterday, went to the Chest Clinic to get a Tuberculin Skin Test. Will go back on Friday to get the result.
Right: Today, went to get my blood tested for Hepatitis B, result will be out Friday or Monday.

Two continuous days greeted by needles for the sake of getting myself certified “clean” for application submission. It’s a good thing my OHSC covered them else I’ll be sooooo broke!

I hope I’ll get it after going tru’ all these troubles. *Finger crossed* If I got it, I’ll be blogging from Korea next year and spend my CNY there.

First Time Clubbing in Adelaide

Posted on October 6, 2011October 5, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on First Time Clubbing in Adelaide

My very first time clubbing in Adelaide, first time and already hit 3 clubs in one night! ;p It happened after exam. We all completed our exam and decided that we must party to the max after 2 study periods of slaving hahaha…

After dessert, I went to meet my other group of friends around 11pm. They had pre-drinking session, I didn’t drink much, just a few sips of red wine.

We, 4 girls, headed out to Swish at Stamford Hotel near our apartment at 12am+, means it’s already 17/9/2011. It was initially planned to be girls night out but we called up a guy friend of ours to join us last minute. The theme of the night was 90’s, the music didn’t really rock us so we decided to change place.

We headed to Heaven, need to pay cover charge. GAH! AUD15! Not cheap wei! Another guy friend came to join us too. All 6 of us from 3 different countries(Malaysia, Pakistan, and China). Go figure, who is from where ;p

Then, around 3.30am, we headed to another club, Lavish, near our apartment. Luckily this time no cover charge else I’ll be broke! I had spent so much earlier of the night for dinner and then the cover charge of Heaven. Way over my budget. Before going into Lavish, we stopped by McD as some of us need BREAKFAST! 😛 I had a cup of Fruit Fizz.

We headed to our starting point, friend’s apartment, at 5am hahaha… Then they continued to drink again, to finish off the red wine. I only started to drink now ;p drank about half glass only. Didn’t even touch any alcohol during clubbing. Actually I did, just a sip, my friend asked me to try her drink. That’s all I had.

At 5.30am, we called it a night. I didn’t bother to shower, just removed my makeup and went to sleep. Good thing the clubbing scene here doesn’t allow indoor smoking, I didn’t sweat too else I’ll have to shower, wash my hair, dry my hair and so on. By the time I’m done with all those stuff, it’ll be 7am! So I managed to go to bed at almost 6am.

What an experience in Adelaide. That’s not all… More to come, it was a full swing weekend for me. Things started from Friday evening and only ended on Sunday evening.

Moon Lantern Festival in Adelaide 2011

Posted on September 21, 2011September 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Moon Lantern Festival in Adelaide 2011

I decided to combine these 3 events in one post because there’s too many pending posts and these 3 are related to the same topic ;p

This year, my mid-autumn celebration is different from what I usually had back home. We don’t really celebrate back home actually. It’s called the Moon Lantern Festival here.

First celebration happened on 10/9/2011. I had it with my colleagues at a Chinese restaurant somewhere in the suburb. I got no idea where it’s located ;p I forgot to check the name of the place too. We took a bus there. My first time having abalone. Very chewy, what’s so nice about it? It’s just seafood to me hahaha…

I ate so much that day. Non-stop eating since lunch as after lunch I had a group revision session and we were eating chips and tarts while doing our revision. Then at dinner, ate again. I’m not sure of the exact name of the food though, just giving the general names. Here’s drunken chicken and prawn balls.

So much food in a day! Softshell crab and fish.

Kailan and duck.

Left: Red bean pastry.
Right: After dinner, we went to our boss’ house for dessert! GOSH! Ate non-stop again until 12am+. There’s cakes, jelly, mooncakes, chocolate fondue, fruits, tong sui(sweet soup) and more! Reached home at about 12.30am.

Photos with colleagues aka friends. This is just 1/3 of them, there’s another 2 tables. All Malaysians.

Then, on the actual day itself, 12/9/2011, I had exam! Good thing it’s open book exam but it’s not that easy as expected as what came out mostly weren’t what we had expected -.-” So I just crapped. Then again, it’s common sense, should be fine.

We had our exam at Allan Scott Park, this is where the horse racing event takes place in Adelaide. When we arrived, we took so many photos *LOL* As if we’re the tourists and not there for exam ;p

My first time visiting a horse racing venue.

Love the view of the mountain.

With my coursemates. Two coursemates aren’t in the photos, that’s how small the class was. Only 7 of us for this subject. Others were so stressed out waiting for the exam to start yet we’re there camwhoring! How crazy, studied till too stress ;p In the exam hall, our class was only a small fraction of the number of people sitting for exam.

After exam, my friend and I headed to the Torrens River for the Moon Lantern celebration event but we’re too late. People were cleaning up the place already. Ended at 8pm if not mistaken but we were only there at 9.30pm+. Oh well… What to do? We had our exam while people were celebrating. The event could put Malaysia’s celebration to shame hahaha… It’s HUGE and started at 3pm. There’s HUGE stage setup and 10 minutes fireworks! Too bad I missed it.

So we both just walked along the river basking under the moonlight with each other while the rest were couples enjoying each others’ company by holding hands, kissing, hugging and so on. So lonely… It made us so miserable seeing all that hahaha… Hopefully our singlehood will end soon with the blessing of the moon that night *LOL*

That’s how I celebrate my Moon Latern Festival aka Mooncake Festival aka Mid-autumn Festival in Adelaide.
