Evergreen Restaurant

Posted on November 5, 2011November 5, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Evergreen Restaurant

This happened on 20/10/2011, hehehe… Only post now coz it’s in my phone.

Went for dinner with 3 friends at Evergreen Restaurant located at 31 Moonta St. It’s a seafood dinner. I didn’t pay for it though, one of my friends treated us.

Left: Menu.
Right: Cucumber, mu-er, and jelly fish in chili and sweet sour sauce ($7.80), hmm… Not spicy at all but quite refreshing.

Left: Seafood and bean curd soup ($4.20/bowl), we ordered portion for four people. Can’t remember the taste ;p

Right: Fish fillet with pickled cabbage ($15.80). I quite like this because I like pickled cabbage. Remind me to stock some during my next grocery shopping.

Left: Stir fried green vegetables ($8.80), nothing much with this, it’s just stir fried vegetables, what do you expect? Hahaha…

Right: Special of the day, steamed fish head chopped with chilli pepper ($10, if I recall correctly, normal price is not this price, they have different dish on special each day), couldn’t eat much of the meat, fish head, that’s why. It’s quite salty. I don’t quite like this dish. Don’t be fool by the look, not spicy at all.

Overall, the dishes were so-so. Not much to rave about. Price wise, it’s quite standard for an eatery located in Chinatown.

That’s all for today. Sunday is coming, one week is ending! GOSH! So fast! Been quite busy the past few days, spent most of my time at uni doing assignments coz I just can’t stand doing them at home, that explains few days of no update hehehe… In fact, spent whole afternoon in the computer pool today too streaming TV series while doing assignment ;p Will do so again tomorrow.

Summer is around the corner and today is my first time wearing a sleeveless blouse out without any scarf/jumper/jacket ever since I’m in Adelaide. It feels like the weather in Malaysia now.

That’s all for the time being. Will update again soon.

Thai Orchid Restaurant

Posted on November 2, 2011November 3, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Thai Orchid Restaurant

Last Saturday, after went for movie Nova Palace Cinema at Rundle Street, we went to Henley Beach for dinner. My first movie in the cinema in Adelaide with the ticket I got from my first ever contest prize from the uni, my first Italian movie, my first visit to Henley Beach, and my first Thai cuisine in Adelaide with my first two male Italian friends! So many first! However, we didn’t exchange phone numbers, they’re my friend’s friend, we went on double date ;p Also, the most expensive meal I had! -.-” So… Broke! Broken the record of Wasai.

We’re there at around 5pm. It was quite chilly due to the sea breeze. Before dinner, we went for a round of pool while waiting for the restaurant to open its door. It was my first time playing pool too!

Then, we went to Thai Orchid Restaurant at Henley Beach.

Left: Mixed Entrée ($25.00), mixed platter for two, all foods are chosen by the chef. It’s so huge, just having this will be good enough for two average eater. Everything on the plate was great! There’s Gai Hor Bai Toey aka Pandan Chicken, spicy seafood and beef salad, and vegetable in batter.

Right: Lemongrass Quail ($9), grilled marinated quail served with picked vegetables and black pepper sauce. NICE! My first time having quail ;p

Left: Gai Yang aka Grilled Chicken ($18), chicken breast marinated with lemon grass and aromatic herbs, served with tamarind sauce. This tasted as it should.

Right: Ta Krai Nuer aka Lemongrass Beef ($18), beef cooked with special blended sauce, flavoured with lemongrass and coconut milk. OMG! Damn thick and yummy!

Left: Pla Lard Prik aka Chilli Fish ($25), boneless whole barramundi deep fried and topped with chilli paste and coconut milk. So sinful! It’s not spicy at all, was expecting it to be quite spicy but it was quite delicious.

Right: Another view of the beach.

The bill came to a total of $166+ (inclusive of some beers for the guys) for 4 persons! -.-” GOSH! Almost got heart attack from it instead of getting heart attack from the blocked artery due to the rich, thick, creamy food ;p

The food was overall very good but the price… *GULP* a bit too expensive for me.

In A Biskit Big Cheese

Posted on October 30, 2011October 30, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on In A Biskit Big Cheese

WOW! It’s been days not updating. Supposed to be updating something but the weekend was quite crazy. It all started on Friday night and continued to Saturday. So many first times and seriously… I don’t know what I actually got myself into… Can’t believe what I did! -.-” October is coming to and end very soon! 2011 is ending. GOSH! Can time slow down? One more month and I’ll be finishing my final second study period. Time to head back to reality is getting closer 🙁

Anyway, back to the main topic. Previously I had In a Biskit Crispy Bacon, it wasn’t good.

This time I tried In A Biskit Big Cheese simply because it was on special for only AUD1 else I won’t bother buying.

It was good! I like this unlike the earlier one. Quite cheesy, very strong cheese flavour.

Will definitely buy it again when it’s on special ;p

Farewell Dinner at Ky Chow

Posted on October 18, 2011October 18, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Farewell Dinner at Ky Chow

One of my friends here is leaving… Gonna miss her soooooo much! She’s one of the friends here that I can share my problems with especially in the relationship department, we have the same expectations, we understand what each other had gone tru’ which usually most people will not understand, no wonder we clicked. We’ve only known each other for 6 months but we had bonded, too bad now she’s back in Malaysia for good.

We went to Ky Chow again. This time for farewell dinner. Supposed to be 10 of us, at the end only 8 of us.

Left: Hot & Sour Seafood Soup (AUD4.50), it’s quite spicy if you can’t tolerate spiciness. The soup was quite thick. Sour and spicy enough.
Right: Shallot Pan Cake (AUD5), it wasn’t so bad.

Left: I don’t remember what’s this, had it previously. I can’t seem to locate it in the menu. Should be sweet & sour chicken, there’s sweet & sour pork in the menu though.
Right: Granny’s Bean Curd with Prawns Hot Pot (AUD14.80).

Left: Had Chinese Fruit Hawthorn Pork ribs (AUD11.80) previously too.
Right: Salty Fish Egg Plant Hot Pot (AUD10.80), had this previously too hahaha… Apparently my friends kept ordering the same dishes means these are the recommended ones by them.

Left: *LOL* I have no idea what is this. It’s a type of beef dish, tried to locate it in the menu but none of them ring a bell.
Right: Group photos. Our 2 male coursemates didn’t turn up last minute. It should left only 6 girls for the dinner but the other two brought their boyfriends(not our coursemates) along. Only 3 Malaysians, the rest were from different parts of China. I guess you can easily spot who are from Malaysia and who are from China 😉

Gonna miss my friend for sure. I sent her to the airport last Saturday. Thought I will not cry but ended up I cried -.-” ARG! So embarassing ;p

Sigh… Everyone is leaving yet I’m trying hard to stay.

Wasai Japanese Kitchen

Posted on October 11, 2011October 11, 2011 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Wasai Japanese Kitchen

Had farewell dinner with my one of my colleagues (who is also my coursemate) at Wasai last week. It’s a Japanese restaurant located at 9-15 Field Street, basically at Chinatown.

This is my very first Japanese food in Adelaide. We ordered Momoji(AUD105) to share among 4-5 people. It’s special selections of Wasai’s most popular dishes.

In fact, you can even share with 6 or 7 people if all of you are not very big eater. The most expensive dinner I had, I paid AUD30 for my portion which include 2 bottles of sake(shared among 10 people, if I recalled correctly) which I only drank a small cup. Soooo broke! It’s only beginning of October and AUD30 gone just for one meal… Oh well… It’s the company that counts. The most just have to be very careful in spending this month. What’s more last month overshoot my expenditure limit ;p

Left: The chili powder and soy sauce.
Right: Complimentary edamame was served.

Momoji consisted of…

Left: Deluxe Sushi + Sashimi Boat, goodness! It was so gooooooooooooooood… The shashimi was so fresh! Love it! Haven’t eaten any good Japanese food for so loooooooooooong.
Right: Agedashi Tofu, very soft and tasty. *slurp*

Left: Soba Salad, very nice too. OH! Everything was nice.
Right: Tempura consists of prawns, fish and assorted vegetables. All the ingredients were so fresh.

Left: Teriyaki Chicken. It was cooked to perfection.
Right: Seafood Miso Hotpot, it’s quite salty but it’s quite tasty. By the time this was served, we’re so stuffed already.

Overall, the food was good, at least my AUD30 (just don’t do the conversion ok?!? Hahaha…) for this meal was worth it. Highly recommded. Just too expensive for me… I really miss quality Japanese cuisine. At least this was good enough to fix my crave until don’t-know-when.
