Mandoo

Posted on September 27, 2012September 28, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Mandoo

WOW! It’s been awhile since my last update. So much things going on. I’m still not recovered from all the events.

Mandoo is a shop selling Korean dumpling dishes. Mandoo means dumpling in Korean. It’s located at Bank Street. Went there quite a long time ago. The photos were in my phone and only got transferred to my computer yesterday hehehe…

We ordered steamed dumpling (AUD11.99) and fried dumpling (AUD12.99). Don’t remember the meat basically we had pork and chicken.

Left: Dumpling soup (AUD12.99). The soup is fish stock, there’s rice cake, egg, and vegetables.
Right: Pickled cucumber and homemade sauce. The sauce looked spicy but in fact it’s sweet and sour.

Overall, price wise is pretty steep and I personally don’t like how it’s priced with the 0.99 at the end of it, I don’t mind it in supermarket but in eatery? I just don’t see the point! It just serve no purpose at all when everything in the menu is priced with 0.99 at the end of the price. Taste wise, it’s just so-so.

Going back? No, unless it’s people’s treat.

Gold Coast 24/7/2012 – Part 3

Posted on September 22, 2012January 9, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Gold Coast 24/7/2012 – Part 3

We went to Rainbow Bay for lunch. I’ve never been so close to the sea. This is another hot spot for surfers. Here’s the world famous Snapper Rocks.

After that, we had our lunch at Rainbow Bay Surf Club. Luckily we arrived 10 minutes before the kitchen closed!

Nachos (no idea how much) and Snapper Rocks Hot Seafood Plate (AUD20.50) which consists of beer battered flathead, tempura torpedo prawns, salt and pepper squid with chips, salad, tartare and lemon. Another bowl of sauces is for the nachos.

Left: View from the balcony of the club.
Right: Some decors in the club.

After lunch, we headed down to another beach. We had to walk barefooted.

Goodness! It’s so painful!

Experienced really hard time walking on the rocks.

It’s sharp, uneven, slippery, and wet too.

Finally headed back to the beach, the surfers were still pouring in for an evening surf.

Left: Wheel of Surfers Paradise.
Right: Goodbye Gold Coast!

We went to the airport very early the next morning to catch the flight back to Adelaide.

That’s the end of my Brisbane/Gold Coast trip.

Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 3

Posted on August 28, 2012January 9, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 3

After we had enough of the rides, we went over to Whitewater World to see what’s it’s all about since we bought the annual pass, then shouldn’t be wasting it. At least must go in to have a look.

It was rather disappointing though. Was expecting it to be grander than this. Couldn’t play at all, it’s winter, it’s fricking cold!

Left: Huge slippers!
Right: The Wedgie.

Cabanna.

Wiggle Bay for children to have fun and parents to relax, nothing extreme.

So many different type of slides.

After having a look at Whitewater World, we went back to Dreamworld.

Left: Finally saw the white tiger.
Right: In fact, there were many places that we didn’t venture in Dreamworld. While waiting for our friends to play with the rides, we walked around to explore more of Dreamworld. If not it would be a waste of the entrance fee. Blardy expensive you know. So must fully utilize it.

Left: If not mistaken, the shearing of sheep fur was done here.
Right: Kangaroos.

My first time seeing real koala after one year 3 months ;p

Crocodiles.

Left: Central Rail Station of Dreamworld. Didn’t go on this ride though.
Right: Firefighters Water Challenger for children.

Finally we called it a day, we left at about 5pm back to Brisbane to meet my friends in the CBD.

Went back to Beach House at Myer. Was lucky it was Monday Steak Night.

Left: Medium well steak. Hmmm… Should have ordered it medium rare. The slice was so thin. Pretty tough. Oh well, less than AUD10, what do you expect?
Right: If not mistaken, this is garlic bread. It was ordered by a friend of mine, we shared this. Not bad, tasted quite nice, the bread was chewy.

That’s how the night went. Headed back to sleep. Was so tired and need to wake up early the next day to tour Gold Coast.

Caffe Troppo

Posted on August 22, 2012 By sweet surrender No Comments on Caffe Troppo

Caffe Troppo is a rather new place in Adelaide located at 42 Whitmore Square. Discovered it about 1 month ago while accompanying my friend with her house inspection at that area.

Really like the interior. Very unique environment. Felt the serenity in there.

We decided to have a pre-dinner coffee session before heading back. We ordered olive dip and fennel seed biscuits (AUD7! YUM! I love it! The biscuits itself were awesome!

For drinks, we had chai and latte, both AUD3.80.

Really love the atmosphere. Will surely go back there again when have the chance.

Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 2

Posted on August 15, 2012January 9, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on Brisbane 23/7/2012 – Part 2

To Wiggles World.

Cute and colourful. We changed our day pass to annual pass in one of these buildings.

The Tower of Terror II! It’s rather scary too but The Claw was worst. I would rate this second after Claw. I almost chickened out while waiting especially when we had to wait because of maintenance. At the end, I went on it. I didn’t open my eyes at all and screamed with all my might! I didn’t even know where it went ;p all I know was it went reverse up, up, up, and face down, down, down. Years back, it used to be the other way round. Didn’t even know it actually went out of the tunnel hahaha… It was over in seconds! After that, I was like “huh that’s it?!?”. The car blasted backwards out of the 206m tunnel at rapid speed hitting up to 161 km/h in seven seconds flat then dangling for 100m into the atmosphere for several seconds at its peak before plummeting back down into the tunnel.

After the ride, we headed to look for food. We went through Shrek’s Faire Faire Away. Didn’t play any roller coaster at all. That’s just so weird right? Go to theme park not playing any roller coaster.

Left: Shrek was taking a bath! ;p
Right: Madagascar Madness. Took a photo with the penguins but forgot to add this photo in.

Left: It actually sprayed water randomly.
Right: The farewell arch but it’s not the end of our journey because…

We went to get our lunch! So hungry after all the rides. Nothing special about the food. It’s all same thing throughout the place. I ordered the pizza set meal. Rather huge portion for most people but I managed to finish them with no issue except the drink.

After lunch we went for one last ride. Going into this old mining town.

Left: The jail.
Right: This is the tunnel for Tower of Terror II. It’s insane!

Left: Went on for the Rocky Hollow Log Ride. Luckily I have a windbreaker else I’ll be so wet!
Right: The place for Thunder River Rapid Ride but I think it was closed for maintenance. Too bad. Or else I would go on this too.

After this, we headed to Whitewater World to have a look since we bought the annual pass, then must at least pay there a visit, it’s just next door.
