Kuching Festival 2006(6) – Garden Show

Posted on August 6, 2006January 7, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(6) – Garden Show

OK… here’s the Garden show photos.

The rest are pretty much the same as last year’s. This one is quite special. At least something different. The water fountain that produces “ding ding dong dong” sound.

This is how it works(see the left picture):
The water flows down from the tube of the big rock to the wheel(green wheel), and it turns the wheel where it’s hold by a horizontal rod(green rod) with “teeth”. Then the “teeth” will hit the row of metal surface(brown) with the metal sticks(green) and creates the sound. The theory is like the spinning “barrel” thing in a classical music box and also the xylophone. Geee… I really don’t know how to explain, suddenly my vocabulary is so limited LOL!

The special thing about this lanscap is the pond. It has water lily in there. It’s so PWETTY!!! However, it only blooms at night because when we went there the other day early in the evening, there’s no flowers there but when we were walking back to the carpark while passing by it, I noticed that they had bloomed. Lots of them. WOW!!

Left: Something new too. Two heads. Really spooky especially in the 7th month of the Lunar calender.
Right: A simple fountain with water gushing out from the top of the sphere.

Not much… it has less landscapings this year.

Kuching Festival 2006(5) – Parade

Posted on August 5, 2006 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(5) – Parade

Before watching the parade, we had our dinner first. The dinner wasn’t good. Lousy cha kueh-RM3 for so small portion!(left) and lousy burger(right). Worst, had to wait so long for the burger. Sigh…

After that, we went to where the parade start. It’s near SMK Padungan aka SMK Lumba Kuda. Here’s some photos of the parade, too bad no floats. Very low key.

Left: Jimmy and Nien posing with the body builder. They both cosplayed that night and informally joined the parade. Gooosh… damn funny and embrassing… everywhere they walked, those children and teens were so excited and chanting, "NARUTO, NARUTO…"*FAINT* Instead of watching the parade, they watch both of them. We did video shooting but this time I’m not the host, the guys were.

After everything’s done, I posed with them for final photoshoot at Hokkien Garden before they changed back their cloths. I looked ugly in there, it’s so hot, oily face ewww…

That’s all for the parade. I still can’t get any photos for the Garden Show. Will update it when I got it.

Kuching Festival 2006(4) – Food After Dance

Posted on August 4, 2006January 7, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(4) – Food After Dance

After class last night, we went to Kuching Festival food fair to hunt for some food to feed our hungry stomach. Pretty easy to find parking space since it’s weekdays and quite late already, it’s about 9.30pm. It’s not very easy to find a seating place though… have to try your luck and count ourselves lucky that we found it not long after bought our food.

We’re “conned”! Mexican Roti(Bread in Malay), each costs RM2.50 for Beef Mexican Roti. Only left 4 of them that time and they placed them two in a box. We asked how much does one cost, we were told it’s RM2.50, so since only the last four left, we bought all and expecting to be RM5. Then we bought another snacks, fried mushroom. I don’t know how to explain this kind of mushroom, it’s quite big. In Mandarin is “bao yu gu” direct translation would be “abalone mushroom” πŸ˜› a box of it costs only RM3 with 10 of them in there. It’s deep fried and sprinkled with 5 spices powder. All together, it’s RM13. RM13?!?!?! It should be RM8 only!!! Then we realised that, the Mexican Roti is RM2.50 each not RM2.50 per box. Wow… damn expensive man!! Felt cheated. Pretty full eating these but I don’t like the Mexican Roti. Just not my taste.

Then, Pinky said she wanted to eat Takoyaki(right) and chicken chop(left). So she went to hunt for them and bought them back. I’m so full already but heheheh… I still eat them. I’m not sure how much were they. The chicken not so bad πŸ™‚ There are two types, spicy and non-spicy. The one here is spicy. The Takoyaki were small and it tasted different from what I had before in S’pore. It was bigger and more flavour back then. Ah well… cannot compare of course. I had never had any “real” Tokoyaki so I have not much comment on it. “Real” as in straight from Japan πŸ˜›

So… that’s all for the night. Our supper at the food fair. πŸ™‚

Kuching Festival 2006(2) – Photos

Posted on August 1, 2006January 7, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2006(2) – Photos

I’m done with the photos πŸ™‚ Lots of them, pretty much a bandwidth sucker too.

We were there from 6.30pm-11.30pm. Main aim was to help Alysha to take video and photos of her dance school’s performamce that night from 9pm-11pm however it dragged on till almost 11.30pm. I don’t have their dance photos yet. Will upload the photos of the food fair and trade fair first.

The garden show. Haven’t really explore it yet. There’s one fountain that was quite interesting, it has the sound of wind chime.

The surrounding of the fair. It’s only about 6.30pm something but it’s already hard enough to find parking and find a place to sit for meal. This is weekday summore, weekend will be worst. Later at night it’s going to be quite packed.

Some stalls. This year they have Japanese(one of them is Ten-Ichi), Korean(one and only Seoul Garden), Thai(Some of them are Bangkok Thai, Mangotree, Pandan Thai Delight), Philippines, Vietnamese(Lemon Grass), Taiwanese, China etc. cuisines.

Some local stalls.

Something different, first time I see but I don’t know what was that, it’s not your typical roti canai. I heard that they had it last year but I’m not sure πŸ˜›

Some booths outside.

Booth that sells Korea products. Hehehhe… see the right picture… I didn’t know what was it at first and stared at it for so long then I realised it’s condom!!! CONDOM ALL THE WAY FROM KOREA!! Goodness… the packagings are so cute, I thought it’s some chewing gum or oil blotter or some other stuff LOL…

The trade fair inside the hall.

Left: Me while recording *BLEK* Behind the scene of the video
Right: Balloons!!!

Hmm… I’m not sure will there be more to come or not for my update. Sigh… Went to collect my camera today and it’s not repaired! They said that there wasn’t any no problem… Sigh… I even talked to the technician from KL thru’ the phone at Canon and spent almost 1 hour there! After some arguments from me, he kept saying that there’s no problem at all. However, at the end, he asked me to take pictures with it and send the pictures over for them to assess the problem… DARN!! It’s so damn obvious and so direct but he just didn’t get it! STUPID! TELL ME! Those of you with digital camera, what happen when you switch your camera’s mode to MACRO MODE? Can you see the changes in the LCD? The changes are obvious right? Something in the camera will adjust and produce a type of retracting sound right? It’s so basic, so simple yet it’s so hard to make him understand and even told me he tested the macro mode and no problem with it! SIGH…
