A Stroll on Darul Hana Bridge

Posted on December 10, 2018December 10, 2018 By sweet surrender No Comments on A Stroll on Darul Hana Bridge

I know, I know… It’s been more than a year since the Golden Bridge aka S Bridge of Kuching with the official name of Darul Hana Bridge or Jambatan Darul Hana is open to public. You no longer need the tambang to go across the Sarawak River. However, I would recommend you to still use the tambang if you want to experience a brief adventure crossing the Sarawak River with a small boat especially to buy kek lapis.

I made this simple video to show you around the bridge, also to join an Instagram video contest hehehe… I didn’t step on the bridge until two months ago hahahaha!! Can you believe that? Thanks to a friend from KK who came for a visit, I also played tourist and we went to walk on the bridge.

Hope you like the video. Christmas is around the corner. The year is ending and I’ve not completed my UK, Wales, and Osaka trips’ posts!! Aiksss…

Knowsley Safari Park

Posted on December 1, 2018January 9, 2019 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Knowsley Safari Park

If you are in Liverpool, you can visit Knowsley Safari Park which is 26 minutes away(If you are using a Sat Nav, enter the postcode L34 4AN). It’s my first time visiting a safari park. After over 3 decades, I finally visited one!! Hahaha… Sounds so suaku…

It’s a great place for family trip. How often can you be so up-close with wildlife? It’s a 5-mile wild animal safari drive and it is the longest in the UK. It’s currently home to over 750 fascinating animals. It was drizzling when we were there. Luckily I had my new camera with me otherwise I couldn’t take good photos of the animals.

You have to drive very slowly in there and do not open your window! Don’t ever ever provoke or feed the animals. This is how up close it can get! The monkeys are all over the car! Ours too! We had to wait for it jumped off from the car to continue driving. The park rangers will be around to help if it’s not getting off your car.

The gate price is £17.50 for adult(16 years old and above), child(3 years old and above) ticket is priced at £13.50. Children below 3 years old is FOC while 60 years old and above is £13.50. You can even get 10% off if you purchase your tickets online.

Due to the rain, many animals didn’t come out. When the rain got smaller, more came out. We just drove slowly and enjoyed the view.

We were lucky the lion and the lioness were out from the bushes and took a stroll. Oh my… I really love the photo… They’re dating. So sweet… Aw… The photo would look better if not because of the rain. How often can you take a photo like this?!?!

Look at them! Never been so close to these animals.

If you don’t want to drive, you can also take the Baboon Bus which will be another charge.

After the drive, we went to the other section of the Safari Park. There’s Sea Lion Display, Animal Talks, and Flight of the Talons around the park.

Here’s a short video that I took of the Sea Lion Display.

Walked around the Wild Trail to look and learn about various animals. First time seeing a real giraffe. Wow… They’re indeed tall!!

There’s also Tiger Trail! When we were there, we didn’t get to see the tiger, it’s hiding somewhere. Many people had given up spotting the tigers. Then suddenly, at the corner of my eye, there it was!! I zoomed in to take that photo. They were in the middle of the enclosure, partially hidden by the grass. They were relaxing under the tree.

There’s a lot to see. We spent at least 5 hours there! If you happened to be around Liverpool or Manchester(45 minutes drive), you can include this as one of the places to visit, not only it’s fun for children but also adults.

Remodelled McDonald’s Kuching Opening Ceremony

Posted on November 25, 2018November 22, 2018 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Remodelled McDonald’s Kuching Opening Ceremony

Fun facts:
1. McDonald’s Padungan is the first McDonald’s restaurant in Sarawak.
2. McDonald’s Padungan is the first McDonald’s restaurant in Sarawak to incorporate table service feature.
3. Customers can order meals via self-ordering kiosks (SOKs) and they could customize their meals.

11.11.2018 marked the 25th anniversary of McDonald’s Padungan. Opening ceremony of the remodelled McDonald’s was also on 11.11.2018.

Here’s the video of the opening ceremony:

On the day of the grand opening, there was also handover of school packs to local primary school children. This is an annual ‘Back-to-School’ programme spearheaded by McDonald’s Malaysia and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in collaboration with Ministry of Education Malaysia.

880 primary school children from Sarawak will receive school packs in preparations for 2019 school year session. Each child will receive one set of school uniform, one pair of school shoes, and a school bag. The programme is aimed at providing 17,000 urban poor primary school children nationwide. Total expected value of contribution this year exceeds RM1.7 million.

McDonald’s Malaysia contributed more than RM 88,000 through ‘Back-to-School’ programme. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia was established in 1990 as a non- profit organisation and is one of more than 300 RMHC Chapters worldwide. It aims to positively impact young lives in the areas of health, education and welfare through its four core programs – Ronald McDonald House (RMH), Ronald McDonald Sensory Room (RMSR), Gift of Smile (GOS), and “Back-to-School” programme. Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Posted on November 19, 2018December 12, 2018 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

That’s really fast of Althea to come out with another product. I’ve just finished sharing about Sunaway, now they have Milk Peel Cream Mask!

I love how the bottle is designed. The pump dispenser is very practical and able to ensure the ‘freshness’ of the bubble mask preventing it from oxidization which is a common problem with this type of mask.

Milk Peel Cream Mask contains milk protein extract to moisturize and strengthen the skin. It is formulated with AHA & BHA to gently but effectively remove dead skin cells. The dispensed product has clay texture as Kaolin made up part of the ingredients which can detoxify and pull out impurities from the pores.

Full ingredients:

Water (Aqua), Kaolin, Glycerin, Disiloxane, Bentonite, Propanediol, Myristic Acid, Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether, Stearicacid, Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Potassium Hydroxide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Palmitic Acid , Ethylhexylglycerin, Milk Proteinextract, Disodium Edta, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Gluconolactone, Glycolic Acid, Titaniumdioxide (Ci 77891), Fragrance (Parfum), Coumarin*, Hexyl Cinnamal*, Citronellol*

Let’s see how this product performed…

Left: Dispensed from the bottle and it took me about 1 minute to get a proper photo of it. It immediately started bubbling up once it came into contact with the air.

Right: Spread it over an area of my arm. WOW! It could easily spread to a very large area with that amount but I didn’t spread it too far out hence it’s concentrated on that 6cm width area on my arm. This is the 2nd minute exposed to the air. You really just need very little product to work on your skin.

Left: 3 minutes… Amazing…

Right: 4 minutes… WOW! The luxurious, airy bubbles… When touched, it’s so creamy and bouncy!

I thought it will be quite hard to wash off but I was so wrong. It’s easy to clean and leave no drying feeling after washing it off. My skin felt so smooth and soft after that! I’ve tried other bubble masks and they’re all so drying and required longer time to wash off. Milk Peel smells so yummy just like milk custard while the others smell like clay.

Look! How it bubbled on my face! Very little product applied and the amount of bubble was amazing! See how fine the bubble is.

How to use?
1. Dampen the skin and apply an even layer onto the skin.
2. Massage till a rich lather forms.
3. Leave on for 30-60 seconds before rinsing away with warm water.

Even though Althea did mention that it can be used daily, I would say it really depends on an individual’s skin condition.

I would suggest using it once, twice, or thrice a week in the evening. Due to AHA and BHA presence in the product, you might over-cleansed if you used it twice a day or daily. AHA and BHA are meant for exfoliation, your skin will be rather raw after using it and can easily be damaged by the sun, that’s why I suggest to use it in the evening.

If you’re using it in the day, be sure to protect your skin from the sun with Sunaway or any sunscreen as your final step of your morning skincare routine. Again, I don’t really recommend you to use during the day.

If you are using it in the evening, make sure you follow up with proper night time skincare routine to replenish and pamper your skin so that you will wake up with a happy skin.

This is by far the best I’ve tried. This is my first time posting about bubble mask even though I’ve tried out two other brands over the past one year. I’ve been procrastinating in posting them as they did not impress me. Their packaging weren’t that great which caused the product to oxidize rather quickly, such a waste; the smell was rather awful; bubble was pathetic; hard to wash off; and very drying.

I highly recommend you to get Milk Peel Cream Mask if you plan to add bubble mask to your skincare routine. You can get 10% discount now from Althea. It’s only RM32 (original price is RM36).

Do let me know how you feel after using it 😉
