Anabas testudineus – New Pet at Home

Posted on March 1, 2009March 1, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Anabas testudineus – New Pet at Home

Just a quick update today. Feel very tired with everything.

Anyway, my parents bought 3 Anabas testudineus back few days ago while on the way back to Kuching from Sadong. Wonder how long can they last? Hahaha…

The locals known it as “Batok” or “Betok”, can be found in the stream especially near the paddy field(that’s what my parents told me *LOL* I got no idea at all). The scientific name is Anabas testudineus. I tried to Googled the English name and I think it’s known as the Climbing perch.

Not any pretty fish. To me they are quite ugly hahaha… One of them actually doesn’t have an eye -.-“, the one at the corner right, down there. So yucky when look at the hole of the eye. Eww… My parents didn’t notice it when they bought it. It gave me a shock when I found out while taking photos of them.

Randomness

Map of Kuching & My Not Interesting Life

Posted on February 28, 2009February 28, 2009 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Map of Kuching & My Not Interesting Life

This is the new map for Kuching city. Even though it stated that it’s Kuching North but it actually covers all the landmarks that is enough to provide the tourists that come to Kuching with directions as most landmarks are based in the north.
If you are coming to Kuching, you can get this map from all the tourist information centres or Tourism Malaysia. It’s FREE!

I’m helping a friend here, if you are interested to be one of the sponsors of this map or contribute your idea or anything to it, you can let me know and I’ll get you connected to the person in charge. The new issue will be out this coming National Day.

Sorry for not having much interesting posts nowadays, I’m really really sort of homebound now hahaha… I’m not in the mood to go out and really NOT in the mood! In fact all I want to do now is just escape to somewhere no one can find me, don’t want to see, hear or say anything. Don’t ask me why. Just some down time. No reason, I’m just not in the mood for anything now except get all mushy with my darling *LOL* Ahem…

Aztech WL830RT4 Incompatible with D-link ADSL Modem?

Posted on February 27, 2009February 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 32 Comments on Aztech WL830RT4 Incompatible with D-link ADSL Modem?

This was what I thought when I connected it to my D-link DSL-500T ADSL modem. It was supposed to be an easy set up following the user manual provided but it turned out that it took us almost 2 hours and ended up with nothing.

When both the router and modem were connected and all the settings were done, there’s no Internet at all even though the Internet light was on. According to the user manual, it means there’s Internet access but there wasn’t! We did a direct connection without the wireless router, the Internet worked just fine but once connected to the router, there’s no Internet but LAN only. Furthermore the IP conflicted with my modem. Changed the IP but still didn’t work. It’s not easy to set up at all!

So I did a search on Google and didn’t get anything. Then decided to try lowyat.net forum. Guess what?!?! The search result showed me that more than 80% of the threads created were all asking about the same problem! Only one thread has the answer. So I decided to post it here in my blog so that it’s easier for people to search.

Here you go… Do it step-by-step and you won’t go wrong. It works with any D-link ADSL modem:

  1. RESET both modem and router then switch off the power supply
  2. Connect them up and switch on the power supply
  3. Open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar (Since both modem and router have the same IP address, this situation will make it connect to the router first before the modem)
  4. Key in username :admin password: admin.
  5. NETWORK – LAN (This is in D-Link)
Set the IP Address to 192.168.2.1.
Subnet, no need to do anything.
    Preset, 255.255.255.0
Save and reboot and the WIFI new IP Address become 192.168.2.1
  6. NETWORK – WAN (This is in Aztech)
Change WAN Connection Type to STATIC IP
    IP address : 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
MTU Size (in bytes): 1400~1500 (mine is 1500)
(settings below are for those using Streamyx, if you are using other service provider, get the details from them)
    Primary DNS : 202.188.0.133
    Secondary DNS : 202.188.1.5
  7. WIRELESS – WIRELESS SETTINGS (This is in Aztech)
SSID : Any name you want
    Region : Your country
Channel : Any number you like
Mode : Just pick the biggest number will do
Wireless Router Radio : Tick if you want to use wireless
SSID Broadcast : Show your wireless to the public
Wireless Security : Tick to secure it else anyone can use free Internet
  8. For this part, it’s up to you on which type you want. Use any that you are comfortable with. Example given is:
    Security Type : WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
    Security Option : WPA-PSK
    Encryption : TKIP
PSK Passphrase : Anything you like
Group Key Update Period : 0 (if you lazy to change your password frequently)
  9. Go to your modem setting page. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser address bar and set up as usual with the wizard by keying in your username and password for your Internet.

That’s it! You can now surf the net! These are not taught in the user manual at all! I almost wanted to bang my head to the wall! Very frustrating! It was so nerve wrecking when waiting for the Internet to come back after we did all the above. What if it doesn’t work!??! There’s no other solution in the net except this!!

Luckily someone in lowyat.net shared this tips else I really didn’t know what to do.

Fashion Meets Technology

As you know, technology is usually related to something cold and musculine. I’m sure many girls hope to have something faminine and fashionable in technology. I know you guys will scream a BIG “NO!”. Who cares! Finally something for the girls to look technology savvy yet fashionably trendy! Who says these two cannot go together? Give us a break! How nice if I can get a HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition for myself then I don’t have to lug around that huge and bulky laptop that doesn’t match my outfit when I’m all dressed up. See the small image on the left? That’s what I mean. So sleek!

Great for travelling too. Anyone mind to get me one?

Going to Sematan Palm Beach Resort

Posted on February 25, 2009February 25, 2009 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Going to Sematan Palm Beach Resort

I went to collect the prize from IVOQ today for the Spot & Win Contest. The office is so easy to find but the map confused me. It’s just next block of Carvery or ABC(Australia Business Centre). The downstair is a Malay coffeeshop. I circled the place twice and only found it when I drove against the traffic ;p Hehehe…

Here you go…

Only for two pax but decided to go with my family. Can just squeeze in ;p SHhhh… Will go at the end of March since it’s only valid until 31st of March, actually can try to call to extend it but lazy, no need. Besides my bro will be having his school holiday and I will be having my semester break that time.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
