MV Doulos Here I Come

Posted on December 12, 2008December 12, 2008 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on MV Doulos Here I Come

Update: MUST GO! This will be the last time you can go on board of MV Doulos as it will retire in 2010 and will be replaced by Logos Hope, a new ship.

Here’s the map in case you don’t know how to go.

I missed it 7 years ago. Now, it’s here again! No way I’m going to miss it this time! Located at Sim Kheng Hong Port at Pending. Wondering how to go? Go to Pending Seafood Centre, don’t turn into the centre instead drive straight up, you will see the port there.

The ship! It’s part of my childhood, I’m sure it’s the same to everyone of you.

You can take photo with the mascot. I did! However, my photo isn’t with me. Spot the two guys there? One of them is cute ;p *LOL*

Luckily I didn’t wear my heels and didn’t wear skirt. The staircase is not nice to climb. I’m sure those wearing heels will have problem going up, don’t even say going down. It’s best to wear flip flop or just flats. Not to forget to capture the view from the ship.

View from another section of the ship.

You can see framed photos and information along the way before you reach the book shop.

I had fun with books like these last time. Will definitely buy many books back after the visit. Love those colouring books, puzzle books and sticker books. I was thinking of buying some back hehehe… It’s fun to stick those stickers around the book hehehe… They are so cute! I didn’t buy any though. Maybe during my next visit. They are priced in Unit, e.g. 100 Unit is RM8.

There are also souvenirs that you can buy. I saw many fancily designed bibles, I’m sure it will be one of it kind when you bring it to church ;p There are also many types of notebooks, cook books, self-help books, story books, CDs and etc. Young and old, I’m sure everyone will find something that they like there. It’s great to do Christmas shopping there. Better to give little children books rather than toys.

There was also mural painting competition going on when we were there.

The ship will leave after 2nd January 2009. Wonder when will I see it again. I sure do miss it!

Kado Again!

Posted on December 11, 2008December 11, 2008 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Kado Again!

*LOL* I’m sure you will say this. *BLEK* Went there for very late tea break and played with somebody’s new camera. By the way, they have new menu now, most of the price still the same and some got a bit of adjustment. Depending on what you order though. Food starts from RM5(if not mistaken) and drinks is RM2.50(if not mistaken).

Let’s see more food and drinks! ;p

Cappucino Milk Shake(RM5.80); Jasmine Green Tea(if not mistaken, price forgot ;p); Peach Milk Shake(RM5.80), very nice, I like it.

A type of fried noodle, not so bad(RM5+) and Handmade Lamb Burger(RM5), quite nice too.

Fried Fishball(RM5, the cheapest snacks ;p, there were 22 balls if not mistaken) and French Fries(RM8? Don’t remember the price too)

Took so many photos and…

I don’t like any of the photo ;p Due to the lighting, my unruly hair, and wrong angle.

Imagine Spending Christmas at the Smokey Mountain

Posted on December 9, 2008December 10, 2008 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Imagine Spending Christmas at the Smokey Mountain

Smokey Mountain? The name sounds fancy don’t you think? HECK! It’s not, it’s a landfill in Payatas, The Philippines. Don’t even say spending Christmas there, I don’t think you will even want to go near that place. Even passing by the huge garbage bin somewhere in town will turn you off and whining about how smelly it is, don’t even say a landfill. However, do you know that many children and adults are there every single day to make a living? It’s a very sad situation. I got this from christmasforpayatas.com

On 10 July 2000, after a period of heavy rain, a trashslide occurred in the Payatas dump claiming over 200 lives, including many children. The tragic victims were the scavengers and sorters at the dump site and those living in the nearby shanties. While the authorities instituted better management of the site after the tragedy, many continue to depend on scavenging as it is their only means of livelihood.

Imagine being killed by garbage? I don’t think anyone wants die this way.

It is sad. Many people like to complain about their life always and never appreciate what they have. If you see or learn about the situation of those children digging out materials from the newly arrived garbage so that they can sell it to help their family to earn some money, it will really make you think that you are living a good life already! You don’t have to go dig out things from landfill to feed your family. The materials they dug is not enough to buy food at all.

You can view this video and you will appreciate what you have in life and make sure you will never ever take things for granted:

If you can help, do help them. There are many Prominent Supporters of Christmas for Payatas, it’s not a scam. Totedaddy is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas. Kudos to Totedaddy.

I hope with my little post here can help create awareness of raising fund for the children in Payatas so that they can have the basic necessities in life and giving them chance to grow up to contribute to the society.

Manhattan Fish Market @ Boulevard

Posted on December 8, 2008December 9, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Manhattan Fish Market @ Boulevard

Went for dinner last night at Manhattan Fish Market, Boulevard Mall. We used the buy one free one mobile voucher from mystyle. Used it before during CNY at the branch at tHe Spring.

We sat inside.

The condiments, last time the garlic was fresh, now they sauteed it. Being the cheapskate us, we ordered one bottle of mineral water that cost us RM3.50 *LOL* One bottle can fill up two glasses. This is the cheapest drink too(not like it’s worth it also at least it’s the cheapest, save some moolah better than nothing). I don’t feel it’s worth it to order soft drinks(Coke, 100 Plus etc.) that cost RM6+.

I ordered Grilled Platter for One(RM28.90) but I think 2-3 person can share it if you order another dish also. If two small eaters, then can just share this one platter. I love the prawns. This platter is quite nice, the rice is garlic rice. Thought of ordering the all time favourite, the Flamming Platter(same price) but decided not to because there’s one less ingredient, the squid ;p Maybe next time if go there with 4-6 people, then order the bigger Flamming Platter that costs about RM50+.

This is the buy one free one Fish and Chips.

Total for the night for 3 of us was RM57+

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
