Maxi’s Restaurant, York

Posted on January 27, 2019January 27, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on Maxi’s Restaurant, York

Before we went to the National Railway Museum, we had our lunch at Maxi’s Restaurant (Ings Lane, Nether Poppleton, York, YO26 6RA). They have few branches throughout the North of England. It seems to be a popular place for people to have dim sum here. Even the interior design is so ‘Chinese’ style, even the exterior too(no photo…). You definitely will know it’s a Chinese restaurant.

Again… I’m not reviewing the food or the place. I’m posting it for my own record. In case you are around the area and want to have some Chinese food, you can come here. It’s quite a popular place for dim sum in York. In general, the food isn’t bad. Portion is reasonable.

This branch is established in 1999. The dim dum is available from 12pm-6pm. The choices to choose from is pretty extensive.

Just look at what we ordered, I forgot to take photos of the desserts.

We ordered rice noodle roll and fried glutinous rice (the second photo above); dumpling and pork intestine(the third photo above); chicken feet and tofu skin roll.

Turnip cake and salt peeper deep fried squid.

Deep fried squid and steamed fish. Ok… the fish is not part of the dim sum menu, it’s an extra order.

Overall, it’s a good meal. I don’t remember the prices though but if you are there, it’s considered as standard range of price to dine in this type of eatery.

The Blackwell Ox Inn, Carlton in Cleveland

Posted on January 24, 2019January 28, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Blackwell Ox Inn, Carlton in Cleveland

Haven’t talk much about what we’ve eaten in the UK. Nothing much really, nothing fancy. Mostly we cooked at home. When we were on the road, we would also buy fresh produce so that we can cook in our Airbnb. The Blackwell Ox Inn(Carlton in Cleveland, Stokesley TS9 7DJ, United Kingdom) is one of the eateries we went when we were there. One day, we decided to have Thai food, that’s why we ended up here.

This is the place my sister will go if they want to have some Asian food. I’ve never been to Thailand so I have no idea how the actual Thai food would taste. However, I would say that the food here is not so bad. Very rich in flavour that would suit many general Asian palette, not very spicy which is suitable for the Caucasians. I don’t quite remember what we ordered too ;p The photo here is green curry.

Left: Tom Yum.
Right: No idea what’s this!! 😛 Hahaha… I guess it’s coconut soup.

Left: Red curry.
Right: Pad Thai was my least favourite. It’s just weird LOL!! Doesn’t look and taste like the Pad Thai I know. More like just normal fried noddle hahaha!

Okie dokie, I have no intention to talk much or review about the food. Just to post it for my own record. If you noticed, I blogged less about food these days. Well… For food I’ve been eating daily, they can be found in my Instagram, I post more food there than this blog because it’s faster and easier. Blog needs more work and time to come out with. Do follow my Instagram for more food and my generally my daily updates.

I still have quite a number of UK trip’s posts that is still pending… Gosh… Half year already! Osaka post not even started!! Trying to churn out as fast as I can now hahaha… January is almost ending… First month of 2019 almost gone… Time sure flies when you are having fun 😉

ID.AZ Face Fit CU-V Tensioning Sleep Mask

Posted on January 21, 2019April 18, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on ID.AZ Face Fit CU-V Tensioning Sleep Mask

Do you notice that your face is more square compare to 5 to 10 years ago? That’s because your skin especially the two sides of your face is sagging, it can no longer fight the gravity, you are losing collagen too. All these cannot be avoided by us unless you have the money and the guts to go under the knife or get prick by needle from time to time to maintain that V-shape face.

In few more years, I’m going to be 40! *GASP* What?!?! How time flies?!?! I’ve been given with ID.AZ Face Fit CU-V Tensioning Sleep Mask which is created by Korea’s top dermatology clinic, bringing professional treatments into at-home skincare to review. It claims to slim, tighten and smooth the facial line overnight. Pretty excited to received it. Pardon the dented box, it was sent via courier to me last week. It can’t be avoided however the jar in there was intact, no breakage. It’s all good.

The key functions of the product are improve skin density, improve sagging face, lifting, and anti-aging.

The texture is smooth and not oily, it’s between cream and gel. The smell isn’t overpowering. It reminds me of some classy cosmetics smell. By the way, the actual colour is white, it looks yellowish here due to my lighting duh…

Here’s a short video of unboxing the sleeping pack on my Instagram, you can see how the colour and texture look like.

I’ve been using it nightly either on its own or after all my usual skincare product. When I’m using it on its own, I will rub my palms together with the product on them to warm it up and apply it all over my face just like any other moisturizer in upward direction. Otherwise, I will use it at the jaw area by using my two fingers in upward direction to massage it in to help with sculpting the jaw line for better lifting effect. Not to forget about the neck and laugh line too!!

I’m only using if for a week. My jaw line is still visible even before using this cream, thank God for that, hence I couldn’t see much difference. However, the folding lines on my neck has slightly lightened. As for my laugh line, that’s my biggest concern, I could see slight improvement too. Fine lines are less visible. All these are not obvious to the naked eyes, need to look very carefully. Only using it for a week, what to expect? I believe with continuous usage, the effect would be more obvious. My photo here has no makeup at all. Taken after my usual morning skincare routine. I was using it the night before.

It’s recommended to be used at night. That’s why it’s called sleep mask. However, I’m sure you can use it day and night. Maybe because of the price, you might want to use it sparingly and only at night hahaha… It’s selling at Watsons Online or Watsons outlets at RM199.00(normal price). Psst… There’s offer now online. Go check it out.

One thing though, I wish it comes with a spatula so that you can take the product out without contaminating the whole jar with your finger.

Last but not least, here’s the ingredient list:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Squalene, Alcohol Denat., Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Poly (C6-14 Olefin), Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/Stearic Triglyceride, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Niacinamide, PEG-40 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Argania Spinosa Kernel (Argan) Extract, Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Root Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Prunella Vulgaris Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Tagetes Erecta (Marigold Flower) Flower Extract, Dioscorea Japonica (Yam) Root Extract, Morus Alba (White Mulberry) Root Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Synthetic Beeswax, Cyclohexasiloxane, PEG-100 Stearate Polyacrylate-13 Polyisobutene, Palmitic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, Sodium Deoxycholate, Myristic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Lauric Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sorbitan Laurate, Oleic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Acetyl Dipeptide-1, Cetyl Ester Alcohol, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

National Railway Museum, York

Posted on January 16, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on National Railway Museum, York

“We’re going to the museum, we’re going to the museum, we’re not scare of museum, we’re not scare…”

Hahaha… My niece sang this when we told her that we will bring her to the National Railway Museum. The museum is located in York. We spent 2 hours there. I would say 3 hours would be just nice so that you won’t rush tru’ things. We left after 2 hours because they’re closing.

Entrance is free but if you would like to donate, you are welcome to do so. They have demonstrations and talks related to the rail transport in Britain and its impact on the society. It is part of the British Science Museum Group of National Museums.

We were in time to catch the turntable demo, here’s the video of it.

It’s a device for turning railway rolling stock, usually locomotives, so that they can be moved back in the direction from which they came..

There are many locomotives on display from old to new and from major cities in the world. Also houses old trains of the royal family.

The miniature is pretty interesting too.

If you like museum and would love to know more about train, this is a must-visit. Very educational and family friendly.

The Deep, Hull

Posted on January 11, 2019January 11, 2019 By sweet surrender No Comments on The Deep, Hull

Back to England. The Deep in Hull is one of the UK’s biggest and and best aquariums (this is claimed by the official website itself :P).

This is the biggest aquarium I’ve ever visited. I think I only visited two till date *LOL* One in Langkawi and now this one.

Glass corals and 3D screens once we got in. Can you see the shark rammed the glass? Hehehe… You will start the tour at the Awakening Seas where you will get to explore over 4 billion years of ocean history from giant fossils to Megalodon shark teeth.

Then, you will go into the Lagoon of Light where you can see many tropical fish, corals and mangrove trees.

What’s under the water? So many colourful fish and corals.

After that, you will come into Endless Ocean, display home to some of the most incredible animals in the sea. It has 2.5 million litres of water and 87 tonnes of salt.

Next, the Slime where the bright and interactive area allow visitors to learn about some of the animals who use slime to move around, catch their prey or create a poisonous mucus.

There’s also penguins and you get to catch penguin feeding at Kingdom of Ice too. The video below will show some snippets of the Endless Ocean and Penguin Feeding.

Here’s the Amazon Flooded Forest where you will see the tropical freshwater habitats while at the Cool Seas is where all the jelly fish are.

Very mesmerizing. I didn’t take any video of it.

Not to forget some creatures such as frogs and bugs are also there.

There is so much to see here. Can’t cover everything. It’s fun and educational not only for children but adults too. We spent over 4 hours there! It’s a great place for family to go.

Here’s the entrance ticket when you purchase at the door:
Adult – £13.50
Child (aged 3 to 15) must be accompanied by an adult – £11.50
Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult – FREE
Senior (60+) – £12.50
