KUCHING, SARAWAK, 9 July 2025 — The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) today launched its MD Business Digitalisation Initiative (BDI) in Sarawak, marking its first rollout in East Malaysia. This strategic effort aims to accelerate inclusive digital growth by equipping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with innovative tools to boost productivity, streamline operations, and future-proof their businesses.

MDEC BRINGS BUSINESS DIGITALISATION INITIATIVE (BDI) TO SARAWAK

The event was officiated by YB Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi, Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak.

Introduced under the MADANI Government, BDI reflects a ‘whole-of-nation’ digital transformation approach to empower businesses across all states, including Sarawak, with the necessary tools, expertise and support to succeed in the fast growing national digital economy. The initiative is delivered in collaboration with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (MINTRED) Sarawak.

Deputy Minister of Digital, YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, highlighted the significance of this effort.

“The Ministry of Digital remains committed to supporting every corner of the nation in this digital journey. Sarawak’s MSMEs play a crucial role in driving regional economic growth. By embracing digitalisation and e-Invoicing, they are positioning themselves for greater efficiency, transparency, and global competitiveness. This initiative is a testament to our shared vision of building an inclusive and future-ready digital economy,” he said.

“Sarawak’s leadership in renewable energy, combined with its digital ambition, creates a unique platform for innovation,” added Wilson. “We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the state to realise this vision and as a long-term partner.”

“With Sarawak’s Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 in full motion, the collaboration between the ministry – including its agencies like MDEC – and the state is expected to intensify in the weeks and months ahead for the greater good of the state, its MSME community and the people of Sarawak.”

Meanwhile, MDEC Chief Executive Officer, Anuar Fariz Fadzil emphasised the importance of strong federal-state collaboration in supporting local businesses.

“Sarawak is a vital part of Malaysia’s digital future, and we are committed to the pursuit of state-level transformation, fostering local innovation and create long-term, sustainable economic opportunities,” said Anuar.

A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 2

Posted on July 7, 2025July 7, 2025 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 2

After a long commute and going around Kyoto, it’s time to check into our hotel first at Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi. However, since we arrived early, we couldn’t go into our rooms yet. We left our luggage at the hotel. Then, we went for lunch and visited some tourist attractions.

Lunch at AEON Mall Kyoto

First stop was AEON Mall (1 Nishikujo Toriiguchicho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, 601-8417, Japan). We didn’t visit the mall. We just went there to recharge for a bit after a very long commute. Seriously! I was so tired. I felt like the surroundings were having tremors. It was me! -.-” Anyway, we went there for lunch and to use the toilet before heading to Gion (祇園), Kyoto’s most famous geisha district.

Just Walked Around Gion (祇園)

We took a bus to Gion. It’s my first time going on a public bus in Japan hehehe… When we arrived Gion, we’re greeted with so many human beings! HAHAHAHAH! It’s peak hour for the tourists to come out to play. If you don’t want to be in the crowd, do come here early in the morning.

A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 1

Posted on June 28, 2025June 28, 2025 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on A Trip to Kyoto (17-24 Apr) – Part 1

It’s our first family trip to Japan. We flew to Osaka and spent most of our time in Kyoto. We started our journey early in the morning of 17th April from home to Kuching International Airport and flew to Kuala Lumpur International Airport with Malaysia Airlines for transit. Not for transit to Osaka, but to Ho Chi Minh, then to Osaka with Vietnam Airlines.

If we’re to take Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia, we would arrive on the same day. However, due to the expensive flight fares of our national/local airlines, we opted for a cheaper option with a longer time to reach Osaka. We only arrived in Osaka on the morning of 18th April.

Why Vietnam Airlines?

We bought Vietnam Airlines tickets to Osaka because it’s so much cheaper, as it happened to be on offer. It’s an average of less than RM1500 per pax for a return trip (KUL-SGN-KIX). There were 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 children. The cost would be quite high if we were to fly with our national/local airlines. It was between RM2300-3000 per pax because of peak season. Even Air Asia was more expensive than Malaysia Airlines after adding all the add-ons.

However, we bought Malaysia Airlines return tickets for Kuching-Kuala Lumpur. I redeemed my flight miles and topped up with cash. Aside from that, we had to stay a night in an airport hotel when we returned. Actually, we didn’t have to, but we’re just playing it safe in case there’s any delay with the flight back from Osaka to Kuala Lumpur and we miss our connecting flight to Kuching. Furthermore, there was no codeshare among them and flight tickets were booked separately.

We came in from 3 different locations and gathered at KLIA. Four drove from Ipoh to KLIA; one from Singapore to KLIA; and three from Kuching to KLIA. Even with that, the total average of our flight ticket and accommodation was less than RM2K per pax. Still a lot cheaper than flying with our national/local airlines. The only downside was the long travel time. We only got into our hotel room in Kyoto after 30 hours plus of commuting. Exhausting, but it’s OK.

HUAWEI FREEBUDS 6 LAUNCHES IN MALAYSIA WITH BETTER FIT, SMARTER SOUND, AND LONGER BATTERY LIFE

Posted on June 18, 2025June 18, 2025 By sweet surrender No Comments on HUAWEI FREEBUDS 6 LAUNCHES IN MALAYSIA WITH BETTER FIT, SMARTER SOUND, AND LONGER BATTERY LIFE

HUAWEI introduces a new era of open-fit audio, blending high-fidelity sound, stunning comfort, and intelligent call performance, all packed into its most advanced FreeBuds

HUAWEI FreeBuds 6

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 JUNE 2025 – Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) Malaysia today officially introduced the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6, representing the brand’s latest leap in open-fit wireless earbuds, setting a new standard for comfort, connectivity, and crystal-clear sound. Designed for users who demand it all: premium sound quality, all-day comfort, and reliable performance, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 pushes the boundaries of open-fit design.

While many open-fit earbuds focus solely on comfort or sound, the FreeBuds 6 masterfully balances both. With its signature droplet design, refined based on tens of millions of human ear data points, and a lightweight form factor that’s lighter than its predecessor, these earbuds fit naturally into a wide range of ear shapes for long-wearing comfort. Whether for music, calls, or everyday listening, it’s a meticulously engineered audio companion built to elevate real-life listening experiences.

At the core of this next-gen evolution is a dual-driver system, a rarity in open-fit earbuds. Featuring an upgraded 11 mm dual-magnetic driver and Bass Turbo 2.0 tech, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 offers a deeper, fuller sound profile that lets users feel the beat, without sealing off the ear canal. Whether you’re listening to orchestral scores, hip-hop beats, or your favourite podcasts, the FreeBuds offer a punchy, balanced, and immersive sound experience.

Adding to its premium acoustic credentials, the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 supports lossless audio transmission of up to 2.3 Mbps when paired with the HUAWEI Mate X6, powered by HUAWEI’s proprietary L2HC 4.0 codec. This enables 48 kHz/24-bit high-resolution playback, capturing fine textures in vocals and instruments and delivering studio-grade clarity wirelessly, a feature typically reserved for premium over-ear headphones. Think concert-like sound when you’re jogging or immersing in a podcast while cooking dinner,  no wires, no compromises.

HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 supports two-way silent calls in all scenarios, which eliminates background sounds in a 95dB high-noise environment for a clear and conducive connection. With all these features strengthening the open-fit ANC capabilities, users can experience crystal-clear audio calling with noise suppression that cancels interruptive ambient sounds up to 8m/s of wind speeds. So, whether you’re activating a call during a windy day, in the middle of a casual cycle, or at a busy airport terminal, both you and the other party will be able to hear each other loud and clear on the call without unwanted interruptions.

But this isn’t just about sound, it’s also about style. Inspired by glistening water droplets, the ear stem volume of the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 is 12% smaller than their predecessor, with a refined, aerodynamic curve that sits naturally in the ear. Each earbud weighs just 4.9g, offering a feather-light feel for all-day comfort. Available in Purple, White, and Black, the FreeBuds 6 make a subtle yet striking style statement that fits effortlessly into any look, from casual errands to dressed-up evenings. As a finishing touch, the earbuds also feature a UHF Planar Diaphragm Driver cleverly inlaid on the shell, like an ancient and mysterious guardian rune, adding both visual intrigue and high-performance sound quality.

There is nothing more frustrating than having your earbuds die just as you are winding down with a classical instrumental piece, or right in the middle of an important meeting. With the HUAWEI FreeBuds 6, users can count on outstanding battery performance that supports all-day listening. The earbuds offer up to 36 hours of music playback with the charging case, a full six hours more than the previous generation. Even better, a quick five-minute charge provides up to 2.5 hours of uninterrupted playback. Whether you are short on time or on the go, a quick top-up keeps your audio going without missing a beat.

The HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 offers an intelligent and seamless user experience across iOS and Android devices. It supports dual device connections, allowing users to switch effortlessly between phones, tablets, and PCs. For instance, if the earbuds are connected to a PC and a call comes in on your phone, the earbuds automatically switch to the phone. Once the call ends, they reconnect to the PC without needing any manual steps. Pairing is just as convenient; simply open the charging case near a compatible Huawei device, and a pop-up appears. One tap is all it takes to connect, with reconnection pop-ups appearing even faster the next time.

HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 also introduces intelligent head motion controls for a true hands-free experience. With simple gestures like nodding to answer a call or shaking your head to reject the call, users can control calls and even music without touching their devices or earbuds.

Malaysians can experience this audio revolution starting 24 June 2025, priced at RM699, with free gifts worth RM327 across all HUAWEI Experience Stores, the HUAWEI Official Website, HUAWEI Official Store on Shopee, HUAWEI Flagship Store on Lazada, and the HUAWEI Official Store on TikTok.
