BN? DAP? 12th General Election 8th March 2008

Posted on February 25, 2008February 25, 2008 By sweet surrender

So… It’s the time now… Every party is busy campaigning and trying to outdo and outwit each other. Who will win? Who should win? I’m sure you have your already made a decision. Some might change their decision last minute or along the way, some might just turn up and vote for no one meaning making a void vote. Whatever, that’s your choice.

We’ll be seeing lots of flags, banners and billboards setting up around town and even SMSes, e-mails and letters will be circulating around, be it the fact or misleading information, you’ll see for yourself until 7th March 2008.

The general election will be on 8th March 2008. Are you a voter? Cast your vote as your vote is important, it doesn’t matter which party you are supporting or you don’t support any, just turn up and cast your vote, be it valid or void, just make sure that your name is recorded and you’ve done your duty. The outcome will determine your future, do you still want to stay in the same position just like you are now? This 4-5 years, what did you get from DAP? Something to pondor upon.

Did you know that you cannot use nail polish when you go to vote? This is because they are implementing a new way to ensure that those who had voted won’t vote again due to an allegation in one of the previous elections where people voted and voted again with another person’s name. Still I don’t understand how the ink works after reading from the newspapers. We’ll see by then. If you come with nail polish, I’m not so sure how they will deal with you. Wanna try? Hahaha…

Carpenter Corner @ Carpenter Street

Posted on February 24, 2008April 5, 2009 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Carpenter Corner @ Carpenter Street

Went to Carpenter Street to look for some stuffs the other day. Then we came across this shop. Very huge signboard!

First thought was that it might be selling products like heartbeat. Out of curiousity, we went in and had a look. First we saw many t-shirts in containers. Great gifts for friends or your loved ones. Then it seemed more and more odd… The stuffs are getting more and more “interesting”… Then it hit on us that this is a shop that not only sells normal gifts for couple but also “special” gifts for couples! Hahahaha… If you know what I mean…

There were some displayed at the ground level, then there’s second level. We decided to went up to have a look… *LOL* More stuffs!! Sex toys, love gels, condoms and more… Somebody got so embarassed and quickly ushered me out hahaha…

Actually this is not the first shop that sells things like this in Kuching, there are many but most of them aren’t that obvious(sighboards so small and located quite secludely) except Condom House which I know most of you know that it’s located at MJC which is quite far from the city centre. Never been there or any of them before hahaha… My first time went to this kind of shop was in Time Square, KL. Miri has a lot, you could find one in every shopping mall hahaha… Kuching is different.

I guess Carpenter Corner is the only shop that sells these things so openly in the middle of Kuching.

So… Interested to buy some “special” gifts? You don’t have to go till MJC now hahaha…

By the way, they don’t pay me for this hahaha… Just found out and want to share it with you. Giving them free publicity… So kind of me…

Valentine’s Day 2008

Posted on February 15, 2008February 15, 2008 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Valentine’s Day 2008

How’s your Valentine’s Day? For me, at least I’m not bored as I used to be. Hahaha… It’s not that I already have a boyfriend to spend it with, it’s just that I have quite a number of single friends to spend my day with yesterday. How do we celebrate? We went to Enter K to sing karaoke from 3pm-8pm!! πŸ˜› Hahaha… Will blog more about it later. Next we went to Jalan Song for very late dinner. Will also blog about it later.

After that, we went over to Padungan’s cat statue to take some photos of the stalls selling Valentine’s goodies. Not many people setup stalls this year and the traffic wasn’t as bad as it used to be. I got to know that many of my friends had to go back to cook instant noodle instead of having romantice dinner together last time because everywhere were packed! Traffic was so jam from the MBKS swimming pool until the city centre. This year is cold… Much like the Chinese New Year, it’s coooold… No CNY mood, no Valentine’s mood as well.

Some photos of the Valentine’s goodies on sale. Not many people buying also. I guess people had changed their way to celebrate or because of the slowing down of the economy… No money…

We took the opportunity to take photo at the cat statue hehehe… My first time taking photo with my friends here. I think I had my photo taken here like decades ago, not so sure, can’t recall hahaha… If not then this is my first time taking photo here hahaha…

Oh by the way, the two on the left are not single πŸ˜› They are couple hahaha… The 3 on the right are single… Poor us… The one holding the camera too.

tHe Spring’s Fountain

Posted on February 11, 2008February 11, 2008 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on tHe Spring’s Fountain

GOSH! What is wrong with you people! This is not a wishing well! Stop throwing coins in there! It’s really embarassing OK?!?!? Foreigners would think that Kuchingites are nuts about making wishes at fountains and wishing wells. It won’t make your dream come tru’ ok!?!??! You will only create damage to the fountain! What kind of mentality is that by throwing coins into water features that you come across?!?!? Watch too many taiwanese dramas is it!?!!? Even the water feature in the food court isn’t spare from it!!!

Stop the act! So disappointing. So embarassing. Kept complaining not having enough money to spend, complaining about rising cost of living, then stop throwing money into the fountain and keep it for your own use! If you can afford to toss money into the fountain then stop complaining about not having any money or complaining about the rising cost of living! 1 cent is also money!!! I saw many 20 cents, 50 cents in there yesterday. This photo was taken few days before CNY. Imagine that!

When accumulated, these money can be a huge amount! If you so like to toss your money, give it to me! I would be happy to accept it. Then I will have more money to eat and blog! You don’t have to contribute to the management of tHe Spring. You just contribute to me. I will appreciate you better. They don’t need it. They hate you to bits for making them doing the extra cleaning work and in case the fountain is damaged by the coins, they need to fork out money to repair it.

Are you this sakai??!?!??! Shame on you if you are one of the contributors!

Where’s The CNY Mood?

Posted on February 2, 2008August 26, 2010 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Where’s The CNY Mood?

Chinese New Year is coming soon… 7th February 2008, WOW! Now it’s February… It feels like just yesterday we welcomed 2008. In less than one week, only few days, Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year will come. -.-” Guess what?!??!?! I have no CNY mood! I don’t feel any. In the passed years, we would be busy spring cleaning but this year… Haven’t start at all! Oh dear… I guess we will only start on the eve’s *LOL*

Even the market is quiet…

Went to Kenyalang, lots of cars, hard to find parking but not many people. Most people came and left empty handed or only with small bags instead of big bags like it used to. It’s not sardine packed also, you can move around easily. Kenyalang is already so “cold”… The rest of the places would be worst!

Indeed…

Went to Padungan, the Chinese New Year Bazaar, I took part in it last year hahaha… It’s my first and last time, no more! Hahaha… It’s pathetic this year! Only few stalls, it ended at Tao, unlike previous years that ended way after the police station which is another block next to Tao. Not many people buying things, many came to see, see, look, look, walk, walk only.

As usual there’s performance every night on stage. Trying to get some mood from it but… Still cannot… Still no CNY mood -.-” Oh dear! What’s wrong with me? Apparently, I’m not the only one. Many of my friends and even my parents also feel this way. Where’s the CNY spirits? Where’s the mood?

The famous cat is dressed in Chinese costume and surrounded by hanging lanterns and colourful lightings are installed along Padungan area.

Many people at Boulevard and always long queue at the hypermarket counter. At least people are buying a trolley or two of goods back. Maybe everyone shopped here that’s why the CNY Bazaars are so quiet. We managed to shop a trolley πŸ˜› However, it’s not all CNY goodies, mostly are just the everyday groceries.

Do you feel the Spring is coming? Do you have the mood? I still don’t have any mood… Will be baking some cookies today to cultivate the mood, not sure it works or not? *LOL*

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
