3rd International Orchid Show 2015

Posted on September 13, 2015September 13, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on 3rd International Orchid Show 2015

Yesterday, got the opportunity to visit the 3rd International Orchid Show 2015 at Orchid Garden, Jalan Astana, near the DUN building. A four-day event, 10th-13th September.

Despite the haze and extremely hot weather, we still went. It’s such an eye opener. So many types of orchids!

There were International Orchid Landscape Exhibition by 13 participating countries, International Orchid Landscape Competition, International Orchid Landscape Competition, Individual Orchid Competition, Floral Arrangement Competition, and Orchid Bazaar.

I’ll just let the rest of the photos do the talking.

Too many, didn’t take them one by one.

Enjoy all the orchids.

So many that I’ve not seen before. WOW!

Very colourful.

Would enjoy it more if there’s no haze and it’s not that hot.

First time taking so many photos of orchid of different types.

Okie dokie… Continue with the photos hehehe…

You can see few more in my Instagram.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Kuching Festival 2015

Posted on August 1, 2015August 2, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2015

Yesterday was the first day of Kuching Festival 2015, happening at Dewan Masyarakat located at Padungan. Went there to look for dinner with my parents.

Never went there on the first day, this year is the first.

Walked, walked, walked… It rained! Luckily not heavy and we had our umbrella with us. Apart from the usual stalls you see every year, there’s surely some new stalls, and a lot of new ice cream stalls! Goodness! It’s more like ice cream fair than food fair. All sort of ice cream from hand crafted ice cream, to popcorn ice cream, to gelato, to yogurt, to macaroon, and more!

These are some stalls we tried, yakitori and pizza.

Before we headed home, fireworks lighted up the sky, the rain had stopped too. It’s been awhile not coming so close to one. It was the launch last night. Normally they will do it on Saturday night, the 2nd night but this time on a Friday night, the first night.

Have fun at Kuching Festival! I usually will go there about 3 to 4 times a week hehehe…

Coffee Places Around Kuching (Part 2)

Posted on June 8, 2015June 8, 2015 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Coffee Places Around Kuching (Part 2)

Three more coffee places around Kuching to share…

One Degree 33 Cafe
Sublot 18, Ground Floor, Song Plaza, Jalan Song / Jalan Tun Jugah, 93350 Kuching, Sarawak, 93350 Kuching

Came here for lunch and we had breakfast items for lunch. They serve breakfast all day. I don’t see anything wrong. The Full Works (RM20 if I recall this correctly) great for sharing between 2-3 people. Tasted great! Was stuffed! Everything was cooked to perfection. As for the drink, can’t say anything about the coffee. I ordered iced chocolate which was rather diluted, not up to my expectations. Still, I don’t mind to come back for the food.

Rusty Bean & Batter
M42/M43, Level 1, ST3 Shopping Mall, Jalan Simpang Tiga, 93350 Kuching

Craving for pancake and/or waffle, you can check this place out. The tea they used is from T2, reminded me of my time in Adelaide. Love to visit T2 at Rundle Street just to try out various tea they have and also to look at those tea sets they’re selling. I’m surprised to see this brand here.

It’s been quite awhile ago visiting this place, I don’t quite remember what we ordered, just wild guess…

Left: Jupiter Pancakes (RM14.90), sweet and salty with coconut cream and caramelized banana. Don’t remember what syrup was that. The coconut cream is sweet enough, don’t need the syrup but it will give you another twist of flavour in a good way of course.
Right: Bavarian Apple (RM13.90), Belgium waffle with caramelized apple and vanilla ice cream.

The Coffee Clinic
GF, Sublot 16, Song Plaza, Off Jalan Tun Jugah/Jalan Song, 93200 Kuching

When I visited this place, they just opened. Very cute place.

I’m not sure whether they improved or not. Basically, when I was there, there’s a lot of room for improvements. I heard they have improved a lot, many people like the place too. They even have a restaurant upstair now.

Aside from Coffee Clinic, they also own The Coffee Factory. Some how I lost all the photos of The Coffee Factory (JT Building, 7th Mile, Kuching-Serian Road, 93250 Kuching), another coffee place in Kuching. Worth a try too.

That’s all for now. There’s still quite a number that I’ve not tried. Too many, too hard to keep track.

Coffee Places Around Kuching (Part 1)

Posted on June 2, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Coffee Places Around Kuching (Part 1)

Coffee places is sprouting up like mushroom after the rain these 1-2 years time. Still more coming I’m sure. So many in Kuching. Couldn’t even keep track. I’m gonna split them into parts to share with you. I’m not a coffee drinker, I’m just sharing the available places for coffee in Kuching. Therefore, don’t ask me about how good the coffee is, I have no clue.

Caffeine & Cocoa
Unit 61, Ground Floor, No. 1, CityONE Megamall, Jalan Song, 93350 Kuching

The place is a bit stuffy when it’s full house. Environment wise isn’t so bad, quite cozy except the wooden stools are shaky which is quite scary to sit ;p
Left: Tetley Lemon Tea with a drop of honey, very refreshing tea, could taste a hint of honey in there. A pot of tea is RM10.50, can refill.
Right: A type of cheese cake, cheese sponge layered by cream cheese and covered with cream cheese topped with shavings of cheese. Not ordered by me, so no idea. Tried a bit, not bad, not too sweet and it’s moist. Their cakes are sourced from third party.

*************

Coffee Obsession
29, 1st Floor, Lorong Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce 18, 93150 Kuching

Very spacious place with simple but creative decorations. They have various seating options available for patrons. The drink on the left is Mocha and on the right is Signature Iced Blended Green Chocolate Mint. The drinks were generally a bit too sweet for my liking. The sandwich was not bad, great for sharing, very filling.

Earthlings Coffee Workshop
Lot No. 45, Ground Floor, No. 1, CityONE Megamall, Jalan Song, 93350 Kuching

I guess we can consider this coffee establishment the trendsetter. It started over a year ago and the coffee culture in Kuching started to boom. It’s the hip place to go. I’ve been seeing friends posting about it on social media and talking about it too ever since its opening. However, I only managed to pay this place a visit few months back. I’m slow…

They have unique ways to present their coffees to their customers, in Erlenmeyer flask, but not other beverages. First time, I ordered the yogurt drink(top left), it’s quite sweet for me. Second time I went, I ordered the chai latte (bottom right), by far this is the best chai latte I had in Kuching. We did try one of their cakes, something with peanut butter, tasted great if you like peanut butter but the crust was inconsistent, it was so hard to cut into. By the way, they don’t make their cakes, they source it externally.

As for the environment, it’s extremely cold in there because of the centralized air-conditioning system in that very small area. A cozy place to hang out too.

That’s all for now. Part 2 will come…

Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences

Posted on May 12, 2015May 13, 2015 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences

Last Friday, was invited to Ariva Gateway Kuching Serviced Residences for a get together with hoteliers, medias, and partners. Third time here. First time to visit a friend; second time with colleagues; and third time I’m going as a blogger. We’re invited to view their refurbished superior rooms.

This is how the refreshed room looks like. Not bad, very cosy and the bed looks inviting hahaha… I would jump on the bed if I get the chance 😛 Two options for you, either a king size (it’s real king size, not two bed joined together or the king that looked like queen) or double single. There’s 32” LCD flat-screen television with Astro channels in-room safe, mini fridge, large glass top working desk and coffee/tea-making facilities. As for the bathroom, you’ll get optional hand-held Rainforest shower.

This hotel is known for its apartment/serviced residence. These images showing the living area and the dining area. Very cosy as well. The kitchen is fully equipped. They also have washing machine and dryer, good thing to have, you’ll need this when you travel with your family, otherwise you will have tonnes of laundry to wash after you got home from your trip. Great for long term stay and for holiday with family. There’s two-bedroom and three-bedroom for you to choose.

Not to forget complimentary parking (subject to availability) too if you’re driving, complimentary Wifi access, roof top swimming pool, fitness centre, continental breakfast at rooms and business centre services.

Tempted to experience it? They are currently having newly refurbished “Superior Room Limited Time Offer” at RM165.00nett including continental breakfast for 2 persons and complimentary in room WiFi by 21 May 2015. I think it’s quite worth it. Stay period is valid until 21 August 2015. For reservations, call 082-250958 or e-mail kuching.enquiry@stayariva.com

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
