Gold Fever with Kate

Posted on June 8, 2013 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Gold Fever with Kate

Was lucky to be invited to join the Kate Gold Party Experience at Magenta Restaurant last night.

Golden fever!

Kate Makeup Demo was done by Kate International Makeup artist, Mr. Mikiya Hirai. He used the stunning “Goldosh Eyes” on the model’s eyes. The gold theme was deliberate and meaningful as Kate’s distinctive persona is one of fun, party, sophistication and a touch of enigma. Sorry for the ugly photo, it’s too dark for me to take a decent photo with my camera without using flash, it was such harsh flash.

We had fun last night and I won myself a box of Kate’s products in the Q&A session. Also had a chance to take photos with Mr. Hirai.

The food we had last night. There’s appetiser and main course. No dessert though. The food was great but the beef (top right) wasn’t up to my expectation hehehe… Because I was expecting steak ;p

Aside from the food, demo, and game. There was also “Show Your Kate Style” contest by Everrise/Kate Valuable Customers who was selected from the lucky draw campaign/ The ladies were styled to present themselves in Kate style. These were the contestants and three was selected as the winner based on their performance on stage. Didn’t get to take any good photos of the winners because of the location where I was seated.

Left: The goodies I got after attending the event. WOW! HAPPY! Got the Goldish Eyes eyeshodow(RM59) and Slim Gel Pencil(RM44). You can actually find real 24k gold in the eyeshadow! There’s two sample sized products too namely Concealing Cover Powder Foundation(RM74) and Powderless Liquid(RM74). Gonna review it when I’m in the mood ;p

Right: Aother product was one of the FRESHEL multifunctional skincare range by Kanebo. Will review it when I got the chance to use it. I need to finish off whatever I’m using now to open a new product. It’s amzing with 5-in-1 functions, gonna save so much time!

Thanks Kate and Everrise for the golden experience.

How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 3

Posted on May 13, 2013May 13, 2013 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 3

At night, we went for dinner at James Brooke Bistro at Waterfront. It’s my very first time there.

Left: Spring roll. Nothing special.

Right: Satay. Very sweet with strong lemongrass taste.

Left: Sarawak Laksa, hmm… It did taste okay but not Sarawak Laksa to me. It’s rather sweet to be Sarawak Laksa, there’s no lime and sambal given too. There’s bean curd in it some more, more like curry laksa to me.

Right: Vanilla ice cream with pear cake. Extremely sweet ice cream but good thing the pear cake wasn’t sweet at all, so it balanced it out. Too bad, I couldn’t finish it because I had been eating non-stop since noon. So stuffed!

Don’t ask me how much they were, I have no idea as I’m not the one paying.

Here you go, my bodyguards for the night! Imported all the way from the west and they’re all in black and bald hahaha… I’m so well-protected that night ;p Don’t mess with me! They’re smiling, imagine if they’re not, people would really think that they are some gangsters. *LOL* These bald guys supported the fund raising of SCCS by going bald in the afternoon at Sarawak Energy. Kudos to them!

This wrapped up the day for me.

How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 2

Posted on May 12, 2013May 13, 2013 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 2

In the afternoon, I went to Menara Sarawak Energy to attend the dialogue session, tour, and Go Bald event.

In the dialogue session, we were introduced to the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities that Sarawak Energy engaged in as you can see in the photos.

Left: Another initiative to help the people in the interior of Sarawak. You can learn more here.

Right: After the dialogue session, we were brought on a building tour. This is the Visitor Galleria.

We also went to look at the office layout and how green the building is. This is the first green office building in Sarawak. Was caught by surprise to see that there’s a gym runs by Level-Up there.

Most windows are on the north and south sides of the building so that there won’t be direct sunlight to reduce excessive heat gain.

If you work here, you’ll definitely get views from your windows. The office switches will switch off on its own when there’s no human movement after 15 minutes.

Left: The atrium has got no air conditioning at all and it’s using cool AHU condensate water to cool the atrium, the water fountain you see in there is not your normal water fountain. The water came from the air conditioning system of the building.

Right: There’s also a museum.

You can learn more about the evolution of Sarawak Energy in this museum.

One last event of the afternoon, Go Bald for SCCS fund raising. Sarawak Energy staff took part in it.

There were more than 40 of them went bald that day. She’s the only woman who decided to go bald pretty last minute. It took us all by surprise. Good for her! I don’t dare… ;p If you want to support the cause, do visit gobald.my.

The baldies!

Where’s my bodyguards? They’re in there the group of baldies. You’ll know in the next post.

How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 1

Posted on May 11, 2013 By sweet surrender No Comments on How I Found My Bodyguards – Part 1

Hehehe… Yesterday morning, I went to Sarawak Museum for the soft launch of its redesigned longhouse gallery.

It’s a collaboration between Sarawak Museum with Sarawak Energy, the state energy provider.

Please be reminded that general public is not allowed to take photos in the museum especially with flash as it will affect the artefacts preservation. We were allowed to take photos of this section because we’re given permission to do so.

With the support from Sarawak Energy, the longhouse gallery is more modern now. There’s a theatrette for you to learn more about the longhouse in Sarawak. There wasn’t such thing last time. Other than that, there’s also touchscreen for visitors to interact with.

Since not many people got the chance to go into a longhouse, Sarawak Museum has it, a mini one for you to experience how it’s like in a longhouse. There’s real human skulls in there! At least more than 100 years old. It’s hanging on the ceiling of the longhouse (the picture on the top right).

These are the surrounding of the museum.

Left: A fountain not far behind the museum.
Right: The back view of Sarawak Museum.

Where’s my bodyguards? Coming soon in coming posts ;p

How Amusing is the GE13 Campaign?

Posted on May 4, 2013May 6, 2013 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on How Amusing is the GE13 Campaign?

Tomorrow will be the day. The day Malaysians have been waiting for to see whether there will be a change or not. I dare say, this time around, competition is rather stiff and it’s very extremely dirty too for all parties. I’m not siding anyone here, I’m just standing at the observer point of views watching all the dramas. I’m just gonna share some of the campaigning strategies especially in the social media of all sides which I found rather amusing and show how immature, stupid, and desperate they are doesn’t matter it’s the supporters or the campaign workers whether it’s from the official or otherwise.

1. Making use of children crying photos to prove that someone is evil.
Hello?!!? They are children, they can cry just because of anything! Yes, I agree that children are able to sense who are good or evil but which child does not cry? It’s just a matter of moment, luck. All parties are guilty in using this as a way to tell people who is good or bad. So, if your child cried while you hold him/her, then does this mean you are evil? It’s as simple as that. This is stupid and immature way to help your favourtie political party. It’s just rubbish and doesn’t mean a thing at all. Com’on la… In fact, this kind of photos surfaced in the social media for a long time already, just that there’s more versions coming out now.

2. Photoshopping.
With technology, it’s easy to do. It’s just a matter of doing it professionally or not. Again, all are guilty in this. Photoshopping the audience to make it looks like many people attended the function and so on. Just yesterday, I saw a photo which they relate how one side flying in foreigners to vote tomorrow. I’m not going to comment on that but the photo that they asked people to send it to the respective authorities overseas is editted! People?!?! If you want to make your case, do it properly la… Using a picture which can be randomly found on the Internet and photoshopped the logos and flags in and asked everyone to send it to the authority is only asking for trouble ok? I’ve seen that photo before circulating in the Internet years ago! It has got nothing to do at all with GE13.

3. Using old photos.
Again, technology, just scanned it off from old newspapers or save any photo you found on the Internet and tell people that this thing happened recently blah blah blah when it’s not even related to whatever that is happening now. For example, photos of people’s ICs found on the road by a police. As you know, statements saying that one party is giving foreigners ICs to come in to vote tomorrow is a hit now and people are using that unrelated photos by saying that it’s proof that these ICs belongs to the foreigners and found by police and so on. Excuse me? Where did you get the photo? The photo is actually a photo taken in 2011 regarding robbery cases where the robbers had thrown a bagful of ICs that they had stolen from people while the police chased after them. Nothing to do with foreigners getting ICs to vote. Doh~

4. Blaming or badmouthing game.
You blame/badmouth me, I blame/badmouth you. Very immature. How can I trust people who only know how to blame/badmouth to rule the country? Run out of idea to pitch your ability is it? Or showing off your ability in blaming/badmouth? No class at all.

5. If you get AES summon, don’t complain.
Where’s the logic? You got it because you had violated the traffic law. Yes, there’s a lot of flaws in the implementation of AES but there is no point to abolish it, just correct the wrong will do. We all know Malaysians are devils when on the road, we like to do things against the traffic laws, very common, talk on the phone while driving, speeding, ignore the traffic light, drink driving, not fasten on seatbelts and so on. Don’t tell me you never do any of that. We all are guilty in a way. So, if you violate the law, then you get summon, why complain? Why blame the system? Don’t do it at the first place then you won’t get any fine. You thought the authority so free to pick random common people like us, take our car photo and so on just to send it to us to fine us for no reason? We are the one who gave them the reason to fine us, who else? Even a child know against the law is wrong.

6. Corruption
We all hate this but do you know most of you actually practicing it also? Bribing the cops when you are stopped for violating the rules. Very common right? Don’t tell me because this is the trend, everyone is doing it. No excsue for that. You are guilty as charged! I have friends who drink and drive, talk on the phone while driving, speeding, and so on and later give kopi-o money to get out of it yet these people are also the people who kept talking about being clean, against corruption and so on. Hello? If you are wrong, then just take the summon and pay, not bribing the police to let you go. People like you have no rights in saying others are corrupt. Doesn’t matter it’s big or small. At the end of the day, it’s still bribery. No excuse. This thing happens when there’s supply, then there’s demand or the other way. Whatever it is, do you even have the right to ask people to stop involving in such graft when you yourself is doing it? *shake head* Walk the talk please… It starts with you no matter how small it is.

7. I vote for this but how can I know my vote is secret?
Excuse me? You already said that you vote for who publicly, online or offline. It’s no longer a secret. What are you talking about? *scratching my head* If you really want your vote to be a secret, then don’t go around telling people who you vote. If you are afraid that certain quarters know that who you vote and use it to penalize you, then shut up and keep it to yourself. People aren’t that free to find who vote for who, there’s millions of votes, how to track? It will take years! You yourself not keeping the secret is already making it easy for those people who really want to “attack” you to target you, they don’t even have to do all the hard work. You make it easy for them. Blame who?

8. Come back to vote ok? Let’s change the government.
Don’t be so naive, not all people come back to vote for change. of course, coming back to vote is the responsibility of all the citizens but if your intention is wanting them to come back to vote for what/who you are supporting then this is not a noble one. Everyone has their own choice, they are free to give their vote to anyone. The problem now is that when you found out the person comes back not meant to vote for your preference, your face and attitude started to change or even tell them that they better don’t come back. Is this right? Of course not but so many people are doing this. Talking about democracy and freedom?

9. Blaming or condemning the celebrities because they support one party over the other.
Again, freedom and democracy. They have their own choice like you and I. You have no rights to condemn them for their choice even if they had gotten benefits from certain people. Quite a number of celebrities were bullied by such people because of their choices, is this right to do? Very immature. You said that they must be the role model and so on but they are also human like you and I. By condemning or boycotting them because they do not have the same stand as you is just showing that you are no better too. Of course, it’s your freedom to do so but you have to do it the right way, not by bullying them by calling them names and hurling bad languages at them. Remember, by pointing one finger to people, the other fingers are pointing back to you. Always like to harp about freedom but I don’t see that you respect others’ freedom.

10. You work for this party, you sure vote for this.
Is there such a law? Again, a person vote is secret. He or she doesn’t need to reveal her choice to you and you have to respect that. You have no rights to force it out from a person. If you do, what’s the difference with you and those people? Also, you are going against the law.

11. Cyber troopers
Oh yes! Thanks to the advancement of technology. With the wide use of social media network now, all of them need to engage cyber troopers for help to make comments, post something or write articles on these networks to influece the people. Problem is that, these people usually are paid/volunteer to do so but do not know the boundary of what the do’s and dont’s of posting something on the Internet which had caused distrubance or unrest. Sometimes making statements that slap their own face too. It’s pretty amusing when the latter happened.

12. Copyright infringement
Need to say more? Using others’ work without permission. One party editted a photo of a person where the bride’s face was replaced with some other person’s face and erected a billboard with that photo. Then, another party using internationally reknown cartoon character on its billboard, I’m sure they did not get permission at all. So? How do I respect any of them? They themselves are engaging in unlawful acts.

13. There’s more but too lazy and I’m so tired already, this one last one, campaigning before the actual campaigning period.
Just because one party use the dirty tactic of campaigning early, the other party also followed suit. In my opinion, if you are really clean, you shouldn’t do that. What you did can affect one’s opinion on you as you’ve been harping about clean, clean, clean but you didn’t walk the talk. Do you deserve my respect? You should stand tall and walk the talk, show people that you have your dignity but what you’re doing made me think that you are no better than the other.

That’s all about GE-13 campaigning bitching from me. If want to talk about every single one, I don’t know when will this post ends. Please exercise your rights tomorrow. Be wise. No matter who wins, UBAH or TAK UBAH, life still goes on. You still need to eat, sleep, work, play, fart, shit and so on.

For those who can’t vote, go get yourself register (anytime during post office opening hours) and stop complaining about not being able to vote the next time around, 5 years for you to get yourself registered, it’s not an excuse for not registering.

For those who registered late and not able to vote this time around, stop complaining also, it’s your own fault for registering late when the registration is open all year round, what you’ve been doing the previous years? Just wait for the next one.

Stay safe and peaceful everyone.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
