Day 3(11.01.08) – Klang

Posted on January 19, 2008April 5, 2009 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Day 3(11.01.08) – Klang

Went to Klang, it’s all about food. Since it’s night time, can’t really do much except eat, eat, eat hahaha… Thanks to Vincent and his friend(whom prferred not to be named, if I’m not mistaken :P). Oh.. Remember to get your customised Valentine’s Day presents from them at Heartbeat.

First stop, bak kut teh. Klang is famous for its bak kut teh. I’m not very sure of the name of this shop, in Chinese according to the signboard is “Chung Lu Wa Bao Rou Gu Cha”. You see Chinese, Indians there enjoying the bak kut teh except malay because it’s pork!

In Klang, it’s customary to have bak kut teh with Chinese tea, I don’t think you will see this practice in Singapore or other part of Malaysia. The rice is not plain rice like what you got in Kuching, it’s called “oil rice”, just like the rice you get when you order chicken rice. It’s so smooth and “slippery” hahaha… Smelt nice too.

Left: Braised chicken feet with mushroom, yum… Hahaha…
Right: The main dish! Bak Kut Teh from Klang! It’s different from what you get from Kuching, you either get tasteless bak kut teh here or very strong taste bak kut teh. In Klang, this bak kut teh is quite sticky, as in not that watery. I’m not sure about other shops in Klang that sell bak kut teh though, this shop’s bak kut teh is quite sticky.

After bak kut teh session, we went to the a roadside stall that has been operating there for 30+ years. It’s the herbal tea that they claim it’s good for health and some sickness like cough, flu, fever etc. We drank the one to cool ourselves down after bak kut teh. It’s so thick! They warned us that it’s very bitter but hehehe… Not that bitter after all, well… For some people thet might not be able to stand it but it’s OK for me sap sap sui After you drink the bitter tea, they will pour the sweet tea to clear the bitterness. The cooling sensation in ur chest and throat was really nice. Don’t ask me about the exact location though πŸ˜› If you want to try, you can just go around Klang to ask people about it, they will know where.

Next, we went to buy muachi. They also sell tang yuan, you know the thing when you eat when the Chinese are celebrating Winter Solstice. Since we’re full, so we didn’t dine there. It’s a roadside stall also, very popular in Klang. Their business is so good! WOW! The muachi is nicer to eat when it’s hot but well… Nothing special, it’s just muachi with lots of grinded peanuts. As for the tang yuan, we didn’t try as we were too full. The ingredient for tang yuan and muachi are the same. Tang yuan is served with syrup and muachi is served with grinded peanuts.

They brought us to PKGR, hehehe… I don’t remember the full name. This is where people like to fish and hang out at night. We had our muachi there.

After we’re done with our muachi, they sent us back to hotel and we got lost along the way because the hotel is so seclude *LOL*. At the end had to call the hotel for direction.

Oh we did take a glimpse of the “castle” in Klang also hahaha…

Day 4 coming soon…

Day 3(11.01.08) – Sunway Pyramid

Posted on January 18, 2008November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Day 3(11.01.08) – Sunway Pyramid

We were supposed to play at Sunway Lagoon but we’re too late. They open on 11am and close at 6pm, when we were at the hotel, it’s already 2pm+, so there is no point to go there anymore. Since we couldn’t online in the hotel, we went there to online! πŸ˜› Hahaha… Holiday Inn Glenmarie has free shuttle to send us there.

They dropped us here.

The entrance and the rubbish bins πŸ˜› Hahaha… Very nice… We don’t have this in Kuching.

Chinese New Year’s decorations. Very red, very orange. I only managed to walk half of the second floor and not-even-half of the ground floor while waiting for my turn to online hahaha… Didn’t intend to shop there, just went there to use the Internet and waiting for friends to pick us up to Klang:P I heard there’s new wing or something but I don’t care! Hahaha… My holiday this time is just to escape from Kuching and conquer the theme parks. Too bad only managed to conquer Genting Highlands.

Left: There was a short ice skating performance there.
Right: The floor with all the food establishments.

While waiting for my turn to online, I walked around and only bought a lipbalm from Sasa *LOL* Then just simply snaped snaped around.

While walking around, I found out that I can get Sunway Lagoon’s view, so I just snapped some photos. This is my second time to KL and this is my first time coming to Sunway Pyramid.

It’s so hot… Playing water at this time of the day will surely roast you hahaha…

When we reached Sunway Pyramid, we went to look for food first, very late lunch before looking for a place to get free Internet. I didn’t eat much coz I had a very huge portion of breakfast at Starworld(casino at Genting), I was still full. Went to Mr Teppanyaki because of the price. Hahaha…

Ordered this beef teppanyaki set, only RM14.90+ inclusive of cincau drink. Jimmy let me ate the seaweed roll because I didn’t have any appetite hahaha… I did try some of the beef, soup, rice and so on. Just for the sake of trying.

Left: The sauces but no wasabi πŸ˜›
Right: Cincau drink that I mentioned that came with the set and my hot citron tea(RM4.90), it was so sweet! As if the sugar is free. Hahaha…

That’s all about Sunway Pyramid. Will tell you about Klang later…

Day 3(11.01.08) – Holiday Inn Glenmarie

Posted on January 17, 2008January 27, 2010 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Day 3(11.01.08) – Holiday Inn Glenmarie

I’m sick now… down with fever… @_@

on 11th morning, we quickly got ready to catch the earliest bus that we could get but only got to catch the 10.20am one. We wanted to catch earlier ones but we’re late as we planned to go to Sunway Lagoon right after checking in Holiday Inn Glenmarie. When we reached Titiwangsa monorail, we went straight to KL Sentral to change to KTM Komuter to go to Shah Alam. Who knows… We were supposed to alight at Batu Tiga station but we alighted at Shah Alam station. According to the taxi driver, we should go to Batu Tiga which is nearer and not Shah Alam. If we reached Baru Tiga, we will only pay RM10 for the taxi to Holiday Inn Glenmarie instead we had to pay RM20 from Shah Alam Station.

So… There we were… Holiday Inn Glenmarie at Shah Alam, nearer to Subang(according to the hotel receptionist). Our friends got lost when they sent us back from Klang and had to resort to call the hotel for direction, the hotel was so seclude. Thanks guys for taking all the trouble to send us back! Not easy to find the place. If you would like to know, you will see DRB-Hicom and BMW showroom when you are on the way to the hotel. It’s the same road leading to Glenmarie Golf & Country Club.

The lobby reminded me of the ex-Damai Lagoon, except you don’t see the sea but swimming pool *LOL*. It’s so resort like, when you are there, you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can feel that you are in a different environment.

This hotel is not what most will want to stay because it’s so far from KL and transportation is a bit of problem. Besides that, it’s so expensive! We stayed at the Deluxe room for 3 days 2 nights inclusive of breakfast. This room costs RM550+, if include tax it will be RM600+ per night! I’ve never stay in such expensive hotel before hehehe… Good thing this is free, I won it. πŸ˜› That explains why we stayed there hahaha…

They provide free shuttle to various shopping areas such as Bukit Bintang(only Sunday, Saturday & public holiday), Sunway Pyramid, One Utama, The Curve, Subang Parade, Putra LRT Kelana Jaya. It’s on first come first serve basis. They didn’t go to MidValley but depends on the situation and also the driver. If you are lucky, you might get to go there but if there are other passsengers, then you can only go to the designated destination.

It’s much more suitable for businessmen and golfers.

Left: Leading to our room.
Right: The shower area and toilet.

Left: The counter. Hair-dryer is mounted on the wall.
Right: WAH! Red Earth products! First time I see πŸ˜› So sakai hahaha…

Left: The cupboard.
Right: The beds. It’s so comfy… The pillows are so comfy and fluffy! I got really good night sleep at this hotel. By far, this is the best hotel room I’ve ever stayed, I mean the bedding.

Left: Broadband was available but it’s RM57 per day! -.- Expensive!!! I better go to shopping mall to online. That explains why I visited Starbucks almost everyday *LOL*
Right: We were given complimentary fruits. So thoughtful of them. We need to eat more fruits, replenish our vitamin C. It’s easy to get sick after traveling. I’m sick now… Flu πŸ™ Should bring along a small bottle of vitamin C.

Here are all the photos of what we got for our 2 days’ breakfast. These are just some that I had eaten, there are more that I didn’t take, I forgot πŸ˜› Hehehe…

They sent us to Sunway Pyramid after we checked in. Thought of going to Sunway Lagoon but not enough time already. Then the next day they sent us to Bukit Bintang, we took the LRT to Mid Valley, they couldn’t drop us there because there was other passengers that wanted to go to Bukit Bintang. The last day, they sent us right in front of Cititel Express at Chow Kit, this is because only there were only us and it’s a Sunday which they do go to Bukit Bintang for free. They didn’t use their van instead use a Proton Waja to send us there.

That’s all about Holiday Inn Glenmarie. I won’t be staying there for the second time hahaha… Not that it’s not good, it’s good, superb! Just that the location and price tag are a bit too much for my standard hahaha…

Day 2(10.01.08) – Genting Highlands Outdoor Theme Park

Posted on January 16, 2008January 25, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Day 2(10.01.08) – Genting Highlands Outdoor Theme Park

WARNING: Very heavy post! Heaps of photos!

NICE! Wish you were there with me… Miss you… We’re in the cloud! These were taken early in the morning from the window.

We decided to have breakfast at Restoran Ah Yat Abalone Forum. We ate abalone there! *LOL* Impossible πŸ˜› It’s so expensive.

Service is good πŸ™‚ You are expected to give them tips. We ordered a pot of green tea(RM7). The peanuts and the cold towel will be automatically included in your bill, RM3. There’s also service tax and GST. The total for our breakfast is RM25.65+few Ringgit of tips.

We ordered some 2 types of dim sum only. Steamed BBQ pork bun(RM5.50) and Steamed pork dumpling with crab roe(RM6.80) I’m not really a dim sum lover. I’m eating just for the sake of having breakfast. Had light breakfast there as we wanted to play at the theme park later.

Theme park!!! We were thinking and thinking whether want to play in there or not because it’s RM44 per person for all outdoor theme park pass, expensive… What to do? We didn’t know it’s public holiday when we plan our trip. If don’t go to casino, then it’ll be playing at the theme park else what else can do there, right?

In we went!

Left: Wristband to the park.
Right: A mini fountain near the entrance.

The followings are not in order, just want to introduce the rides available and that I had played.

Hehehe… Since we just had breakfast, we went for the slower kiddie rides to warm up first πŸ˜› This is Double Deck Carousel. Must camwhore πŸ˜›

Left: Spinner! Not scary at all hahaha… It’s so fun. If you like to play swing, then this is something you should play. I like swing, swing as high as I could, this is a piece of cake, I was enjoying the views from the top πŸ™‚
Right: Thought of going on a ride on this, Monorail, but it rained… No fun… Skipped this…

Green House, so lame… -.-‘

Cyclone, I shouted my lung out πŸ˜› actually it’s not that scary, but wanted to shout that’s all. You know… To release stress.

Matahari :p Camwhored again! Very slow ride, for kids but you can take many photos of the theme park.

Left: Dinasourland was closed for maintenance. However, did went for Super Toboggan, the ride next to it. I almost couldn’t made it πŸ˜› The minimum weight is 35kg and I’m 36kg wakakaka… The ride is kinda scary, the worst part is that the seat was so hard, no cushioning, so my whole body was basically banging everywhere especially my backbone. So painful. No photo for this, don’t know why I forgot to take photo of this ride while waiting *LOL*
Right: Space Shot… Was thinking and thinking and gave up on the idea of going on this ride. Scary!!! There were so many people lining up also.

More views from Matahari. Matahari means sun.

Grand Prix Fun Cart, I’m too short for it, I guess… The requirement is 153cm, I don’t think they will let me in even if I’m 153cm with my sandals on. Summore so many people lining up for it. Pass! Didn’t want to wait.

Kiddie ride! We couldn’t play these. πŸ˜›

Left: Played Tea Cup, you could spin spin spin and spin the cup -.-” I couldn’t stand the spinning.
Right: Hehehe… Another kiddie ride πŸ˜› Astro Fighter.

Left: Crazy Space Lab, hahaha… Kiddie ride again. You’ll be going into a room, and the wall around you will rotate. Then there’s an ET in the glass coffin got electrocuted on and off. Nothing much πŸ˜› The seat would also shake shake a bit.
Right: Fish! You can feed them by buying the fish food there.

Bumper boat, we skipped, thought of playing but queue was too long and noticed that we might get ourselves wet so didn’t go for it at the end.

Left: Instead we went for Boating.
Right: Sungai Rejang Flume Ride, didn’t go for this also, definitely will get wet.

Skipped these two. Too scary πŸ˜› If it’s few years back, I might dare to go for them but not now.
Left: Flying Coaster, the ride is not included in the pass, you have to pay separately.
Right: Corkscrew.

We missed out the Pirate Ship because it wasn’t open in the morning. Only opened later in the afternoon. Wanted to go over but it rained so we skipped it. Lazy already πŸ˜›

After playing, we were hungry as we skipped lunch. So had tea break at Burger King.

Spent about almost RM20 I think…

As for dinner, we went to Hou Mei because we saw the food portion was damn huge! I ordered the most exensive 100 Plus in my life, RM4+ including tax would be RM5+. What to do? I ordered curry noodle, I must drink something -.-‘

Left: Assam laksa(RM11.20++), after tax would be RM12+
Right: Curry noodle(RM11.20++), after tax also RM12+. Not really that spicy just that it’s hot so it’s much spicier. Once it’s cold, it’s easier to eat, portion quite big. Not so bad.

That’s all for day 2. Spent the night at Starbucks again πŸ˜› I’m still in the process of doing day 3.

Day 1(09.01.08) – Genting Highlands, First World Hotel

Posted on January 15, 2008January 17, 2008 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Day 1(09.01.08) – Genting Highlands, First World Hotel

Went to airport at 12pm and at 1.55pm, we took off on time and reached KL earlier than sheduled. It rained heavily that day at KL.

Took Skybus(RM9 per person per way) to KL Sentral. Thought of catching the bus to Genting but the ticket counter was closed!!! OH DEAR! DIE! Use taxi will cost a bomb! There were 3 guys talking among themselves near the counter, then one guy approached us and told us that there is no more ticket to buy already. OMG! Then we found out that the guy that approached us was a local that assisting the other two from Medan, Indonesia. They wanted to go to Genting also and still figure out what is the best way to go since using taxi is expensive. So the local suggested that there were four of us, we share one taxi. He got a taxi for us and the fare was RM80 for the 4 of us.

What to do? We agreed. It’s faster and cheaper also than using the bus. We only need to pay RM20 each and we reached there earlier. If we used the bus, we might reach Genting when it’s dark.
The taxi driver sent us to the Skyway(cable car) because he didn’t want to drive up and it will also be very expensive. The ride is RM5 per person for one way for the Skyway(cable car). It’s really scary!!! Raining summore! If no rain then it’s would be great but it rained. Our gondola happened to drip water -.-‘

Left: Check-in counters at First World Hotel.
Right: The basin and you can see the toilet.

Left: Bathroom.
Middle: Toilet.
The doors are sliding doors with no locks. The room is small but I don’t care! It’s free what! The sheets were clean but the pillows were lousy… The extra pillow on top of the shelf in the cupboard given was quite dirty -.-” You don’t need air-con there hahaha.. Only a ceiling fan which I would rather not on it because it dried my nose.

Left: Hehehe… Nice ride. I didn’t play this though.
Right: Familiar landmark. What it’s called already? The Big Ben?

Left: After that, we went to get dinner. You can get dinner in the indoor theme park. There are eateries everywhere! From eastern to western food, even fast food such as KFC, McD, Burger King, Marrybrown etc.
Right: Starworld, the smaller casino. Went in there for free drinks πŸ˜› Hahaha… I didn’t gamble, just see, see, look, look hahaha… AIKS… The guards didn’t stop me on the way in, this means I looked more than I’m 21 years old, no more underage, so sad… Old already πŸ™ Hahaha…

Colourful lights everywhere, even fake fireworks hahaha…

Left: Arcade games.
Right: Try your luck and see what toy you got.

Left: Test your skill and see what you can win.
Right: Be A Star, go sing your heart out!

Left: The Olive, so posh -.-‘ Food isn’t cheap in there too.
Right: The main casino, you’ll be greeted by the clown statues at the entrance. The guard didn’t stop me… ARG… OLD! ;p

Left: The place where you’ll walk through when you go into the casino area. I applied for Worldcard but didn’t upgrade it because I didn’t play any of the casino game. Only applied it for fun, don’t know what’s for *lol*
Right: Snowworld, not worth it. Didn’t go in unless they allow camera.

Left: Overall view of the indoor theme park at night.
Right: Archery.

Left: Wall climbing.
Right: You want to play pool or bowling?

Left: Van Helsing and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not poster.
Right: One of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not items on display.

Left: The lobby area. You can also see orang utans and HUGE SNAKES on the trees!
Right: HUGE VEGGIES AND FRUITS! Hahaha… Just decors of a juice stall.

Let’s see what’s for dinner?

We went to have Mmm Yum Yum Claypot Bak Kut Teh, RM36.80 for two. One person is RM20+, not worth it if you order for one person. The bak kut teh is just like chicken soup -.- If you feel generous, you can try their abalone bak kut teh.

After dinner and venturing around, went up to get my laptop and online at Starbucks. Had to work… What to do? Good thing we have Starbucks vouchers so we can afford to spend there every night *LOL*

Ordered Green Tea Latter(RM15.50) and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate(RM14.50). Green Tea Latte is nice though it tasted a bit odd at first. Hazelnut Hot Chocolate, I’m kinda regret ordering this, I don’t really like it, should just order the Signature Hot Chocolate. Oh well… Since with vouchers, might as well use this chance to order things that I’ve never ordered before.

Day 2 will come soon…
