Look! Here Comes the Clown!

Posted on January 20, 2007January 20, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Look! Here Comes the Clown!

Warning: I’m mean.. Oh Yessss… I am! Lately I’m in the mood of picking just about anything… So, you can skip this post if you want to.

Imagine this:

The hair: Yellow coloured rhinestones hair accessories.
The face: Blue eyeshadow(monotone) with icy pink lipstick.
The body: Tube A-line layered bridal gown in white with small green & pink lace flowers scattered all over the dress.
The feet: White pump with pale yellowish socks.
***
The face: Green eyeshadow(monotone) with pink lipstick.
The body: Asymmetrical A-line gold coloured with greenish tinge when light reflected evening gown
The hand: Black net gloves.
The ear & neck: Gold earrings, silver/white gold necklace.

What do you think? Everything clashed from head to toe (-_-“) I’m not an image consultant, makeup artist or whatever but it’s just common sense OK?!?! GIRLS! This is a disaster! Especially if you are the bride! OMG! Everything was even captured in the video and camera and definitely looked like a CLOWN! Goodness gracious! Super *JIAT LAT*

Who to blame? Both to blame. Many brides have this wrong perception that they must look over the top or trying desperately to show off on their special day. Next, the makeup artist doesn’t know what he/she is doing because they are not professional. However, the huge responsibility still falls to the shoulder of the makeup artist. It’s your job to make them look pretty even with their unreasonable request. Your skills come in here. A lousy one will make you ended up like a clown just like the above mentioned.

Ended up like this for your wedding day is damn pathetic. I want to puke when I saw the photos. Even my brother who is 10 years younger than me asked me, “EH! Why like that?”(o_0”)

Actually the above can be easily corrected by anyone. I mean… It’s quite basic, unless you have black and white vision. Here’s my idea:

The hair: Green coloured rhinestones/white crystals hair accessories.
The face: Earth tones and with tinge of green eyeshadows with not too pink or too red lipstick(stick to more natural tone).
The body: Tube A-line layered bridal gown in white with small green & pink lace flowers scattered all over the dress.
The feet: White pump with NO SOCKS!! Or wear panty hose that is of your skintone.
***
The face: Gold and greenish eyeshadows with not too pink or too red lipstick(stick to more natural tone) topped with gloss.
The body: Asymmetrical A-line gold coloured with greenish tinge when light reflected evening gown
The hand: No gloves or wear gloves that match the gown’s colour.
The ear & neck: Gold earrings, skip the necklace. Else go for the same gold.

So bride-to-be, don’t try too hard. Go for style that can last at least a decade. Go for natural makeup and emphasize one area of your face such as the eyes would be great. Go for style that is not easily drown by time. You’ll never go wrong this way.

Hmmm… I wonder is the bride going to read this or not? I don’t think she will *LOL* Even if she does, I think she won’t know that I’m talking about her as I don’t think she’s even aware of how awful she looked like that day. I don’t care whether she reads it or not anyway as I’m not related in anyway to her. Hahaha…

Cut My Hair

Posted on January 13, 2007 By sweet surrender 20 Comments on Cut My Hair

Went to have my hair cut+wash just now. The last time I got my hair cut was June 2006. Before my hair cut just now, my hair length had reached my waist when it’s dry; when it’s wet, it’s much longer than that. Now it’s so much shorter with fringe. Haven’t had any hair wash session for more than a year (I think…) and decided to have it today. I was expecting that I’m going to pay RM35 or RM38 for cut+wash but to my surprised, only RM30! Got really nice upper body massage. Feel less “heavy” now.

I went to Rejuvenate @ Crown Square. This time, it’s not the boss that cut my hair, he has been cutting my hair for years. However, this time it’s a newly hired hair stylist (not that new actually, as the last time I was there was more than half year ago). -_-” I was worried that she might not used to my hair and I’ll ended up having a hard to manage hairstyle later. I thought… Well… Maybe… Let’s see what she can do, just take the risk.

I’m the type that usually let the hair stylist do whatever he/she thinks is necessary with my hair instead of me telling he/she how to do it. I told her that I wanted a layer cut and I want a fringe, the rest is up to her creativity. Then, I warned her that I have natural curls as she didn’t deal with my hair before the hair cut, when she came to me, I had just finished my hair wash session and the hair was still wet. Just to let her know, just in case.

Here’s the final result:

She asked me whether I want to straighten or curl, I said that I want it to be curled. This is my temporary curls πŸ˜› After my next hair wash, we’ll see how my newly cut hair looks like.

Maybelline Unstoppable Mascara

Posted on January 10, 2007February 27, 2008 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Maybelline Unstoppable Mascara

Let me get this straight! This is not an advert! I’m not paid to blog for this.

I started to wear Maybelline Unstoppable Mascare since last year end. I had taken photos of it when I reached home after bought them from Watsons but strangely I couldn’t find them anywhere hmm… so I had to look for photos from the Internet.

Maybelline claimed that this mascara can lengthen your eyelashes as much as 50%, and it’s smudge-proof. Many girls sure wish to have lengthy eyelashes, they go all way to get it such as getting eyelashes extension, fake lashes or using mascara to achieve the effect. I’m not that crazy about the length of eyelashes however I cannot deny that long eyelashes with nice curve are pretty. The most important thing for me is smudge-proof.

Carol applied this mascara for me last year for my photo shoots at Alvin’s. Black color was used. Amazingly… It didn’t smudge at all after the mid-day shoot in the studio and after one whole afternoon under the hot sun. I was sweating profusely and the makeup melted but I didn’t get panda eyes at the end of the day even though had it on since the morning! Cool! From then on, I told myself to get this mascara when my old one finished or when it’s time to chuck away.

I don’t always apply mascara unless I need to attend functions or meeting clients(only when I have enough time to get ready before meeting them) else they are bare. I don’t use eyelash curler, usually I only apply 1 coat of mascara, sometimes 2, depends on my mood.

I applied 1 coat in this photo. So… Does Unstoppable lengthen my eyelashes? From the photos… It seems no difference. What do you think?

How about this? Seems lengthened a bit but not 50%. However, I was surprised by the curling effect. I didn’t expect it to curl my eyelashes but it did! Without eyelash curler summore!! Oh… It’s dark brown mascara instead of black. I’ve been using it for quite sometimes now and I dare to say that IT IS REALLY SMUDGE PROOF!!!

Slice My Own Hair!

Posted on August 25, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Slice My Own Hair!

Well… You can’t see much here coz I only cut my front hair heheheh… I took a razor blade and sliced my front hair gradually through the strands. There… I have fringe now πŸ˜› Ehehhe… It turn out ok, not a total disaster but not very obvious. Well… not much different really, I dare not to slice too short. I sliced at least 15cm or so but it’s still long. Oh I did it after washing my hair, that’s why it’s straight in the first photo. The second was taken after it’s dried.

Got inspired by one of the snippets in Cleo August 2006 issue πŸ˜› Hehehe…

“Make razors work double time for you: Instead of using a pair of scissors to keep your fringe in check, try a disposable single-blade razor and make sure it’s single blade unless you want to end up with split hair. Pull your dry fringe forward and hold hair taut at the ends between fingers and slice the blade gradually through the strands till you get your desired length.”

By the way, no makeup!!! Only colourless lip balm LOL… but the second photo, I did photoshopped my eyebags and dark circles. The flash was too harsh and it emphasized too much on them.

I did cut my hair once before. It was years ago and ehehhe… It was OK because I have natural curls and I already have layered cut, even though I simply cut, it had not much effect. I didn’t know what got into me that time. I actually cut my own hair by backcombed all my hair and started snipped, snipped, snipped… Of course following the length where it’s short, it’s short; where it’s long, it’s long.

Please don’t try it at home πŸ˜› I’m not responsible for any damage. It’s best to leave your hair to the pro.

I Want Double Eyelids!

Posted on June 7, 2006August 18, 2007 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on I Want Double Eyelids!

Don’t you hate it when your have double eyelids but then they don’t show because they’re in there? πŸ™ And you don’t want to spend the money or guts to go for cosmetic surgery in Manhattan? So I bought this eyelid tapes from Guardian for RM5.80. There are 20 pairs in a pack.

How to use?
1. Make sure your eyelids are clean. This means, no eye cream too. Just clean bare skin.
2. Use a tweezer or your nails(if you have long nails) to lift the tape up. This is because if you use your finger, it might not be that stickable and not that transparent anymore.
3. Place it in between the fold of your eyelid and press it firmly but gently, so that you don’t introduce unwanted wrinkles around your eyes.
4. Apply eyeshadows to cover the tapes. It’s better if you use cream eyeshadows.
See the result!!! TADA!!!!

More… ehehhe… I know there are people waiting for these pictures ;p

AHHAHA… see the result ;p I have double eyelids now!!! Duh… I already had them just that it’s hidden. Now it’s shown. It looked bigger and it’s easier to apply mascara too.

The downside of it is that if you looked down or close/blink your eyes, the tape can be seen pretty clearly but some people didn’t notice it, depends on how observant that person is. Avoid looking down or blink too much if you don’t want people to know.

Not only that, frequent practice is required to achieve a better effect and avoid reapplying too often. Else it will not be that sticky anymore and the transparent-ness will gone. It’s used-and-throw. No recycling.

Oh… for those that do not have double eyelids can also achieve the double eyelids effect with these tapes. Here’s how according to Cleo March 2006 issue, apply on the lids about half a centimetre above lashline or where you desire you eyelids to fall. Then follow the steps above. So that’s how you can easily and affordably get double eyelids.

Enjoy my photos πŸ˜›
