Country Decastle

Posted on April 17, 2007April 16, 2007 By sweet surrender 21 Comments on Country Decastle

Secret Recipe will be opening for business on 18th April. I’m definitely going on that day! HAHAHA!!! Cheeeeeeseeeeee… Cakessssssssss… *drool*

Actually we wanted to go to Bestberry to try ou their new menu but forgot that Monday is their off day hahaha… So we ended up at Country Decastle. It’s situated at Jalan Song Thian Cheok sort of behind EON Bank and DHL. Previously it’s Dynasty (had my lunch there that fateful day of 2004, I almost spilt my drinks and spilt a spoonful of chili paste). Now it’s taken over by new management and the name is changed to Country Decastle Restaurant Sdn. Bhd.

Left: Decastle Ma-Lak Beef(RM6). Nothing special, just spicy beef with plain rice.
Right: Miss Strawberry(RM4), it’s just shake with chocolate rice and colourful sugar rice, and Ice Grape Tea(RM3).

Nothing special about this place.

Cheesy Spice Cookies

Posted on April 16, 2007April 15, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Cheesy Spice Cookies

Here’s another cookie that I did for Chinese New Year.
Ingredients:
A
200g plain flour
30g corn flour
30g milk powder
1 teaspoon mixed spices(Make sure they are in powder form. I’m not sure you can buy them in powder form or not. If you can’t find them, then just buy the normal packet of mixed spice, then you heat them in the wok, make sure you stir it while it’s heating. If you feel that they are crispy enough already, then pound them or blend them into powder.)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

B
50g finely crushed cornflakes
50g grated cheese
200g butter/margerine
50g castor sugar
2 egg yolks

Instrcutions:
1. Sift together ingredients A; then stir in cornflakes; mix well and set aside.
2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks and beat well.

3. Fold in mixture A and grated cheese.

4. Mix well until soft dough forms.
5. Roll the dough into a rod about 1 1/2 inches, then use the fork to make the pattern. It looks like a mini bun 😛 If you want to glaze it with egg yolk, you can do that aslo. I skipped that part. Or another way is using cookie cutter to get the shape that you like.

6. Bake in preheated oven at 180 degree Celcius for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let it stand for 20 minutes.

This cookies is a bit more tedious but I love the cheeseeeeeeeeeeee… You can modified this recipe to make it a into Curry Cheese Cookies by replacing the spice powder with curry powder! This recipe uses a bit of sugar only therefore it’s not very sweet, if you like it sweeter then add a bit more sugar 😛 but don’t eat too sweet, reduce on the sugar intake is good for you.

Posted on April 13, 2007January 17, 2014 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Lime Cornflakes Cookies

Sorry people. I had tried my best yesterday. I had to do it. Please don’t hate me.:P

Did this for Chinese New Year. Finally can blog about it. Actually I modified the recipe again from Honeystar Cookies.

Ingredients:
A
100gm butter
110gm fine sugar

B
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon of lime juice

C
120gm self rising flour
100gm conrflakes

Instrcutions:
1. Beat A until light and creamy.

2. Stir in B and beat for 1 minute.

3. Fold in flour (C). Mix well.

4. Take a little bit of the dough, not too big coz it will expand to a bigger size. 1/2 teaspoon will do. Coat the dough with finely crushed cornflakes.

5. Place in papercups

6. Bake for 15 mintues at 170 degree Celcius.

TADA! Final product.

Try it out 🙂

Fried Kiaw

Posted on April 11, 2007April 11, 2007 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Fried Kiaw

“Kiaw” should be called “meat dumpling” in English right? Hahahah… Today, I’m teaching you how to do fried meat dumpling. As if I’m the pro, this is my frist time doing it. I don’t even now how to wrap the meat with the “skin”. Hahaha… I simply wrapped and then fried it. Hahahahha… Make sure you add some salt and peppers in the meat and mix well. By the way, usually pork is used. I had never heard of chicken or other meat are used in “Kiaw” 😛 You can get the “skin” at supermarket(sometimes) and vegetable/meat market.

The result? I didn’t put enough salt and the way I wrapped them had caused them to collect oil. Hahahah.. Super oily! It’s crispy though hahaha… Will try again next time. This is great for tea time or just eat it for fun.

Bak Kut Teh Again…

Posted on April 9, 2007April 10, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Bak Kut Teh Again…

Last Friday was Good Friday. Dad said that he wanted to eat some pork leg rice for lunch at one of the coffeeshops at Jalan Song Thian Cheok(hope I got the spelling correct hahahaha…). This one is the same row as Junction Cafe or near the MAS office. Quite an old shop and they have been in business for decades.

Left: The soups(don’t-know-what-soup[I only know it’s very salty], curry[tasteless]) and chili for the pork rice.

Right: Rice for bak kut teh and pork rice.

Left: This is the pork that I mentioned just now. This is portion for two. Not so bad.

Right: Bak kut teh for one person. If you order for two person, you will get two claypots, each person will have one claypot. The bak kut teh was so salty. I couldn’t taste any herbs in there but salt.

The total bill for 4 was RM22 with two drinks(ice lemon tea and canned drink). Quite cheap don’t you think? However, the bak kut teh *shake head*

Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
