Starbucks @ KIA

Bearista: I’m coming! This afternoon Irene brought me to Starbucks at KIA. Finally I came out from my box for so many years.

Irene: Hehehe… This bear is given to me by Ben as my birthday present, not the Ben here 😛 It’s the Ben from KL who is in Melbourne now. Was given to me about hmm… 5 or 6 years ago? He worked part time at Starbucks. He gave me this because his colleague commented that the bear looked like him *LOL* He’s one of my online friends.


Starbucks at KIA is situated at the departure hall which is upstair. Just next to KFC.



Some of the things inside Starbucks. Friendly staff. I was told that they are currently training the local lads and those serving you now are support team from KL and KK. The wifi is not ready yet because of the delay by the contractor.

Java Chip(venti means large), RM15.50. It’s ice blended coffee with chocolate chips and whipped cream(optional). It’s really really really thick and sweet! -.-“
“Signature” Hot Chocolate(tall means small), RM9.50. Very rich milk and bittersweet chocolate, steamed with milk. It’s really really nice! I love it! Best to drink it when it’s hot. When it’s cold, it’s really very sweet hahaha… No kidding, it’s really rich! Whipped cream is optional. It’s nicer with whipped cream.

I’m going to drink it now… But… But… My hand is too small 🙁 I want to sip it but I’ll have chocolate and whipped cream all over me 🙁


Sigh… Can’t drink, I’ll just sit and let Irene finish her drink. Aiks… I’m naked! I didn’t wear underwear except my apron! I saw my friends in the basket near the counter, they were wearing white t-shirt and apron! I need to wear something too!!

You will surely get quality coffee at Starbucks. I saw how they trained the staff. WOW! Really strict. They even have a scale to weigh the coffee, it must be of certain weigh, too heavy or too light will make or break the coffee. Very strict quality control indeed. Not sure Coffeebean is like this or not hahaha… I never step there yet 😛

By the way, there will be tax charged.

Very nice food right?

My parents and my brother went out for dinner last night and they decided to go to somewhere in Kuching for dinner. I’m not going to tell you the exact shop directly. I had already mentioned it just now. The name is hidden in this post itself with not the exact spelling. If you know this shop, you will know.

The food on the left is the shop’s specialty. The one in the middle is ginger beef. The one on the right is don’t-know-what rice. I have no idea what they are. It doesn’t matter since I’m not going to talk much about the food.

The don’t-know-what rice had two veggies missing. It’s all right with that but the rice was bad. From the outside it looked OK but the inside were those rice at the bottom of the pot. You know, those hard hard part at the bottom of the pot? You are not supposed to serve your customer rice like this!

Then… You ever heard of this:
What is the worst thing when you eat an apple with a worm?

The answer is:
By the time you see the worm, the worm is only half!

So… What is the worst thing when you have a plate of noodle when it’s almost finish?

OMG!!!!

My parents and my brother had no idea what was that! It seemed like a fly, it seemed like a type of insect… *SHRUG* The wings and some parts of the body were GONE!!! They called the boss over and the boss apologized and said that there’s no need to pay for the food. However, my dad is not such unreasonable and inconsiderate person, he insisted on paying for the drinks and didn’t want to leave until they collect the money for the drinks. After they collected the drinks money then my parents and my brother left.

You see, actually my dad told me not to make a big fuss over it. Basically he didn’t want me to put it up on the Internet but I still put it up except not telling you exactly where it happened. To him, it’s just pure bad luck that they had encountered the insect in the food. Any place you go will more or less has this problem, it’s just pure luck. He didn’t want to make people out of business. Count that shop lucky that my parents didn’t make a big fuss at the shop that time, it was packed summore! My dad even insisted to pay for the drinks.

The photos were taken by my brother. My sis and I were attending another dinner function last night. Good thing, there isn’t food poisoning after that.

So… What do you think? What will you do if you encouter this problem? I would totally lost my appetite and feel want to vomit everything out -.-” I won’t pay for the drinks and leave. I won’t make a scene, would just tell them nicely and leave. Then come back and blog about it hahaha…

Another chocolate from Hotel Chocolat. It’s called Rice Ganache With Vanilla. Very nice presentation right? Too bad they were squashed. What do you expect? They were in the luggage without much padding and protection for almost 24 hours.


It stated that it’s guest recipe. Hmm… My guess is that the recipe is provided by their guest. Interesting… This is not dark chocolate obviously. It’s white chocolate. How’s the taste? It’s just white chocolate *LOL*


The filling contains 4% of rice crispies. It’s suitable for vegetarian according to the prints on the packaging. It’s very smooth, rich and sweet, something different from previous chocolates that i showed you.

Are you wondering what is ganache? I am. Hahaha… So I searched the Internet and found out that:

It’s a mixture of chocolate and heavy cream. Ganache is used as an icing or filling for pastries, filled chocolates, chocolate truffles, and other desserts.

Ganache is normally made by boiling heavy cream, then pouring it over chopped (bitter) chocolate. The mixture is stirred or blended until smooth. Ganache can be enhanced with liqueurs or extracts.

Depending on the intended usage of the ganache, the proportions of chocolate to cream can vary. Typically, a ganache is equal parts chocolate and cream; this is used for filling cakes. For a chocolate truffle base, a ratio of 2:1 (chocolate to cream) is used. For making a glaze, the ratio is 3:1.

Kim’s Kitchen

It’s been a while I didn’t eat out. Money running out hehehe… Or I’m stingy? It doesn’t matter, let me tell you where I went for lunch today. Korean Food it is! Quite new I think, I saw their ad in the newspapers yesterday and decided to try it out.

Strange, there are so many Japanese restaurants sprouting everywhere yet I never pay them a visit instead I visited every single Korean restaurant that has open their business in Kuching, Oppss… Except one, the one near Hilton.

Why only visit Korean restaurants? Well… It’s because they are operated by the Koreans themselves. I don’t think there is any Japanese operated restaurant in Kuching. Any idea? By the way, the Japanese restaurant next to Kim’s Kitchen has the same owner as Kim’s Kitchen. Will visit their Japanese restaurant next time, I heard that the food is not that expensive. Wait till I have money again hahaha… Oh, both situated at Wisma Phoenix where ex Up-Well is.

Left: Oh Jing Oh Dup Bab (RM8.90), only have kimchi and the “seaweed”(not sure what it’s called in English, seaweed? In Chinese is “hai dai”) soup. This dish is not spicy at all. Hehehe… Don’t be deceived by the look.
Right: Bulgogi Set (RM25), pretty expensive -.-” portion quite big for me, can share with another person. It came with 3 side dishes and a “seaweed” soup.

Not much choices on the food. The kimchi tasted different from the other two Korean restaurants(Da Om and Seoul Garden), this is sweeter. In fact the dishes here are more towards the sweeter note. The side dishes were quite limited compare to the other two, I mean when they serve them with your order. Just see the Bulgogi Set you will know.

Hmm… Quite pathetic, not many people when we went, it’s about 12pm++ that time. Will I return? Maybe… However, will return for their Japanese food.

Total spent, RM42.90 for two persons. =.=” Expensive lunch. No 5% GST.

Chocolate post again!! 😛 This time I’m introducing Hotel Chocolat – Dark Champagne Truffles. I LOVE truffles!!! *drool*

This is really nice. I’m not an alcohol person, therefore the champagne is consider strong(I mean the bitter alcohol taste) to me but I’m so sure for those that are used to drink alcohol, it’s nothing at all. When I swallowed the filling, I could feel the hotness in my throat like when I drink alcohol(the most is only one sip, really can’t stand them, these apply to beer and wine) but then hehehe… It’s chocolate, I can tolerate it 😛

The outer layer is dark chocolate. The filling consists of marc de champagne 7%. I don’t like to have big portion of the filling in my mouth, like I said I’m not an alcohol person. However, I like to savour it bit by bit. It took me about 15 minutes or so to finish the one truffle 😛 So you can imagine how’s the chocolate melted all over my fingers and of course at the end I licked my fingers clean. I love the way it melts. Hehehe…

No… It didn’t make me drunk hahaha…
