Bourjois Paris 54 Rose Frisson

Posted on March 8, 2014 By sweet surrender No Comments on Bourjois Paris 54 Rose Frisson

The baked texture transforms when applied to the skin into an ultra-fine pressed powder, which is easy to apply and blends impeccably. One stroke of the brush reveals the irresistible aroma of the rose scented powder.

I bought Bourjois Paris 54 Rose Frisson (£7.99) in the UK on my previous trip.

The smell is a bit overwhelming for me.

The colour is awesome, texture is silky smooth but staying power is disappointing. Constant touch-up is required.

Love this little pot with the inbuilt mirror. However, I don’t like the brush just rest on top of it. Can be a bit messy.

I think this is my shortest review ever. As simple as that. 😉

Officially 1 Year 2 Days

Posted on March 5, 2014March 7, 2014 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Officially 1 Year 2 Days

Supposed to post it on 3rd March but was too occupied with things and was quite tired.

020313, the day I bid Adelaide goodbye indefinitely. That day was also likely to be the last goodbye, the last hug, and the last conversation I had with the one who sent me to the airport. The night before was our first and last drink of beer together too.

030313, the day I finally reached Kuching. Ending the Australian dream of mine. Short lived and didn’t really end the way I wanted it to but nothing can ever be traded for this experience.

Since the first day I’m back, I found out that people who I thought who were my friends were no longer my friends anymore. I have no idea what I did to piss them off. Yes… I know I left quite a lot of rubbish behind but what else can I do? There is no place for such rubbish to be disposed off, at least I had cleared it from the room and place them all in one place. No one helped me with my packing also. I had apologized while on the way to airport and even when I reached home but both were greeted with silence. Even after so many months, almost a year, I tried to start conversation, even congratulated them on their engagement, and so on but was treated with silence and being ignored. Oh well… Life… Move on… I’m sure that we won’t be crossing path anymore in the future.

It was quite a struggle to settle back home to start everything from scratch but along the way, lots of interesting things came my way. The urge to go back isn’t that strong anymore because it’s quite meaningless in a way now but still miss going back. Damn… So contradicting.

Anyway, enough of this emo crap. Officially back for a year! Hopefully things will get better.

Restoran He Ping

Posted on February 28, 2014February 28, 2014 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Restoran He Ping

Just realized that today is the last day of February. Another long-time-ago post ;p It was last September trip.

Before heading back to the airport to go back to Kuching, we went to Broga for the famous grilled bamboo fish at Restoran He Ping (Lot4903a, Jalan Tanah Pinggir, 71750, Broga, N. Sembilan). We went there the day before but it was closed but lucky that we met the owner and asked him about the opening hour so that we can go back to eat the next day before heading back home.

I don’t have any idea of all the food pricing, it’s too long ago. However, it was reasonably priced. I wasn’t the one paying too. Anyway, the fish reminded me of ayam pansuh (chicken cooked in bamboo). We had to wait 45 minutes for the fish to cook hence you are required to wait if you want to eat this fish. We went there early, so not many people. You will have to wait quite long if there’s lots of diners.

Highly recommended. It’s fresh and there’s no fishy taste too. The aroma of the bamboo sure is giving the dish the special taste. I don’t know how to explain, you just have to try it for yourself.

Left: Ladies fingers with garlic.

Right: Herbal chicken.

Both the vegetable and the chicken were not cooked the normal way, they were cooked in aluminium foil on charcoal if not mistaken. No stir fried , no pots and pans. Very unique. In fact, you can opt for your fish to be cook this way too if you don’t want to wait, shorter time required.

That’s all for now. Hopefully I have something new to update soon. Goodness… So pathetic. Working full-time is really no fun… Sigh… Trying to love it. I’m feeling like as if I’ve not been sleeping for weeks -.-” Really got no mood for anything after work, just want to laze in front of the computer, watch drama series or just shut myself out from the outside world. Damn… Facing so many people everyday is a challenge for an introvert ;p Agree? Only the introverts will know how it feels.

Restoran Satay Malaysia (Nyuk Lan)

Posted on February 23, 2014February 24, 2014 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Restoran Satay Malaysia (Nyuk Lan)

Ahem… It’s been awhile. This post was supposed to be posted last year, about 3-4 months ago but never get to post about it. Since I’m running out of things to blog, I have to dig this out. The price might have increased already. Was there way back in September 2013.

Restaurant Satay Malaysia also known as Nyuk Lan (31, Jalan Semenyih, 43000 Kajang, Selangor) is where you can find one of the best Kajang Satay in Kajang.

Left: Having satay, peanut sauce and ketupat (RM0.80 each) are must-have. The taste was good but a bit too fine, I prefer peanut sauce with some crunch in it.

Right: We ordered all 5 of the available meat namely chicken(RM0.80), duck(RM1.40), mutton(RM1.40), fish(RM1.40), and beef(RM0.90). First time I had duck and fish satay. The satay was big, more than double the size of what we get in Kuching, and meat was very tender. Sadly, you can’t find this big stick of satay in Kuching, it’s getting smaller and smaller and price has been increasing, pathetic. When I saw the satay we ordered in Restaurant Satay Malaysia, my first thought was it’s the biggest satay I’ve seen in my entire life! Where on earth can I find this big stick of satay in Kuching? Frankly, satay in Kuching mostly are quite dry and tough too even from those supposedly highly recommended satay stall/place in Kuching.

The price of Kajang Satay is higher than what we have in Kuching for sure but the quality is more important for me. If it’s good, I don’t mind paying more. However, based on the size, it’s still considered very reasonable.

Aside from satay, there’s a stall selling otak-otak. Lots of people buying it too. I don’t remember how much though. However, it’s not that expensive.

I think this is my second time eating otak-otak. Compare to the one I had before, this one was pretty decent.

I heard the place is always packed! Not easy to get a place to sit, you’ll have to wait for a bit.

Anywhere else in Kajang that you can recommend for good satay? Would love to try it out when I have the chance to go there again.

East Meets West Weekend Hi-Tea Buffet at Hotel Grand Continental

Posted on February 18, 2014February 19, 2014 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on East Meets West Weekend Hi-Tea Buffet at Hotel Grand Continental

Was invited to Hotel Grand Continental for Hi-Tea last weekend. They are introducing East Meets West Weekend Hi-Tea Buffet starting now until the end of the year. You’ll get 4 different themes in a month. Please bear in mind that it’s only on Sunday.

Week 1: Thai Cuisine & Hearty American
Week 2: Asian Spices & Continental Favourites
Week 3: The Oriental & Italian Affair
Week 4: Kuching Street & Penang Hawker Fare

Doesn’t it sound yummy? I tasted some of the dishes and it was beyond my expectations, overall it was pretty good. I said this not because I was invited for it but it did really surprise me. What’s more, the price is very reasonable. I’m gonna share some of the food that I had tried which can be found in the buffet.

Left: The Mini Pizzas are just too cute! Obviously it’s a type of Italian food, so it’s available in Week 3.

Right: I figure this is likely to be one of the combinations you can find in the Hot & Cold Combinations in Week 3. I can’t remember the name hehehe… A dish that consists of crab stick. You’ll normally get it in Chinese banquet as one of the appetizers.

Left: Pan fried Dory fish with lemon butter, yum! I like this! This is available in Week 2. Light and flavourful.

Right: Deep fried bun (I think this is what it’s called). The filling is red bean paste. It’s oily on the outside but otherwise in the inside. The paste is not too sweet too. It’s more like an oriental thing to me but can’t find it in the menu they gave us. Never mind… You can always try your luck. I’m sure you won’t go to the buffet just for one food, it doesn’t make sense hahaha…

Left: Ok… Kick me! I’m not sure what’s this ;p it’s either Crispy Spring Rolls (Week 3) or Fried Springrolls (Week 4). Whatever it is, it’s not my favourite as I don’t like my spring roll this way.

Right: Opppsss… This is… Another guess… Fried noodle? Hahaha… Can’t find it in the menu given. Nevertheless, it was not bad.

Left: This is obviously fried rice. They have two types, this should be Chinese Fried Rice (Week 3) while the other one is Vegetarian Fried Rice which can be found in Week 1. The fried rice tasted quite nice, I thought it was pineapple fried rice at first, I guess they used similar spices for it.

Right: Very colourful and I’m a fan of capsicums! Love this dish! It’s called Italian Rainbow Salad with Homemade Vinaigrette. A very light dish.

Ok… Guess what? Was too full eating all the above and some others which were not in post as they’re not meant to be in the menu. Hence, I didn’t really eat much of the desserts.

I tried the New York Cheese Cake (Week 1) and it did pass my standard, not too bad even though I had tried better ones. That’s the only dessert I had! Can you believe that?!?! Goodness! Was too full! How I wish I can eat more. Maybe few years back, can no longer do that now. No more stamina *LOL*

I do recommend you to try it out.

Here’s the details:

  • Every Sunday
  • 12.30pm – 4pm
  • RM38+ per adult
  • RM19+ per child (5-12 years old)
  • If you go in 6 (only applicable to adults), then one person gets to eat free.

If you have inquiries or reservations about this buffet, please contact Hotel Grand Continental Kuching (Jalan Ban Hock, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia) at 082-230399.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
