Sarawak Foundry and Engineering Industries Association’s Chinese New Year Dinner

Posted on February 19, 2008November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Sarawak Foundry and Engineering Industries Association’s Chinese New Year Dinner

Was invited by Lee to Sarawak Foundry and Engineering Industries Association’s Chinese New Year Dinner last Saturday(16.02.08) at Crown Square. This is my third year attending it. I went there for the food and to catch up with Lee *LOL* Why not!??!? Free dinner!! I didn’t care whatever is happening around, all I care was the food and catching up with my best friend. Every year, he tried to ask other friends in our group to attend but they always turn the invitation down and I’m the only one attended it hahaha… This was where I drank 3 quarter glass of Tiger beer and got allergy attack in the middle of the night! My first time drinking beer *BLEK* Good thing I was OK when I woke up.

Frankly, I think that this is a very good opportunity for all of us to attend because you don’t have to pay for the food and we can have a gathering there, kill two birds with one stone but too bad… Since he’s always looking for people to fill the table, I asked Jimmy to join last year, at least somebody could pick me up 😛 Of course, feast him with free dinner, nothing wrong 😛 Hahaha… This year he joined us too. It’s a win-win situation *LOL*

Here’s the food. Not that appetizing -.-” Lee agreed too, no hard feelings. There were Malay Datuk and Datin attending the function but there’s pork served! I thought they would standardise the menu so that no pork is served. We were quite surprise with the braised pork with bun. This is an eye opener to me, in previous functions that I attended, if there were Muslims attending, there won’t be pork served. Of course, the Datin and Datuk didn’t sit at the normal tables, they were at the VIP table with the organising committee.

Ok… I’ll briefly introduce the dishes, I’m not sure of the exact names.
Clockwise: Combination platter, noodle(forgot what it’s called :P), braised pork with bun, Broccoli and “mian jing”(don’t know what it’s called in English, it’s a type of vegetarian food, they usually use this to make vegetarian meat), steamed fish(don’t know what kind of fish), herbal chicken soup, prawn(tasted sweet, sour with hints of tomato and curry taste) with mantou, and fruit platter.

There was also cake but it’s ugly. I stole all the pictures from Jimmy’s blog hahaha… He didn’t put the cake picture up so I didn’t have it too. The food photos were taken by me but since he didn’t sent it to me, I could only steal it. 😛

Thanks for the invite Lee, you can count on me to attend it every year *LOL* Free dinner!! Who doesn’t want!??! 😛

Food & Tea Restaurant

Posted on February 18, 2008February 18, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Food & Tea Restaurant

Was a bit naughty the last two days, I tried to drink about 3 quarter glass of Tiger on the first day and less than a quarter glass of Heineken on the second day. Guess what!?!?! I wasn’t high, I wasn’t drunk but I got allergy attack!!! First attack, few hours after Tiger at a dinner function invited by Lee, felt ithcy in the middle of the night. Second attack, just a few sips of Heinekan at Lee’s house. -.-” Luckily wasn’t serious but it’s itchy but not that ithcy still can stand. What’s so nice about beer? I still don’t get it? No more beer for me. I can’t drink! Doesn’t taste nice too. Don’t like it.

I have lots of food post lining up!! This is another place that I went with my family few days before CNY. Went to Food & Tea, The Spring for dinner before we shopped for some CNY goods.

This should be a franchise. You can find them in KL, Johor and Ipoh. They served Hong Kong style food. Just like Causeway Bay at Crown Square just that they don’t serve dim sum if not mistaken.

In Cantonese, it’s called “Foon Hey Dei Cha Chan Teng”. In Mandarin it’s called “Huan Le Di Cha Chan Ting”. The English name is derived from the Cantonese pronounciation, just my guess but don’t you think it sounds similar?

Left: Longan With Sea Coconut(RM3.20), it’s chef recommended and Hot Chinese Tea(RM0.80). Nothing to rave about the drinks. They taste as it should be hahaha…
Right: The serviette.

Left: Chicken Chop in Black Pepper Sauce With Rice(RM8.20), only two stems of vegetable hahaha… It’s really spicy and peppery… 100% Real black pepper taste but I don’t like.
Right: Nissin Noodle with Sliced Beef(RM6.80), felt like eating beef instant noodle. -.-” The beef was really tender but not worth it. Guess what?!?! It’s indeed instant noodle! I just found out about it from doing some search in search engine, no wonder it sounded familiar. Definitely not worth it! I better cook this at home which is so much cheaper!!

Left: Claypot Seafood Porridge(RM6+, don’t quite remember the exact price), tasteless… Chef recommended summore!
Right: Claypot Ginger Sliced Beef Porridge(RM5.50), tasteless as well and they both tasted similar except different things in there.

I’m not likely to go back to this place again unless I’m not the one paying. Things are not worth the money and they charged service and government tax!!! Total 15%!! I better go to Food Bazaar in The Spring to eat than eating here.

My First Nuffnang Cash Out

Posted on February 17, 2008February 18, 2008 By sweet surrender 16 Comments on My First Nuffnang Cash Out

Finally I cashed out my Nuffnang on 13th February 2008. You say pathetic or not?!?!?

Almost one year(joined on 13th March 2007) and I only managed to cash out now summore it’s less than RM100. Only RM64.33, deduct RM1 for processing, it’s RM63.33. SO SLOW! This is why I decided to remove it from this blog!

For my friends that had cashed out many times, you can compare mine with yours… I’m sure you will understand why I remove it. Nothing personal, it’s just business.

Sigh… I thought of only cashing it out when it reaches RM100 but it just didn’t move a bit after the last ad they assigned to me at the end of January. Here’s all my earnings for almost 1 year, judge it for yourself. I notice that if I’m not being assigned with an ad, I’m not going anywhere!!! Having those CPC ads don’t help much at all because who would click on it?!?! Not like I have more than 1000 unique visitors per day, then the chances to get click is higher. You say slow or not to earn like this? Sigh… Judging from this, there is no way to reach RM100 even till middle of this year! Nuffnang just doesn’t work for me. Hence the removal of it in this blog but I still have it in irenelaw.com because I want to see whether they will live up to their Glitterati promises.

My first time cash out for Nuffnang(above)… Compare with Advertlets(below)…

See the HUGE difference!?!?!

From my experience with Advertlets, I will still get money in my account right after I cashed out, few cents only but it’s still money, I’m going to cash out this month end again(supposed to cash out in January but forgot)!! As long that the ad is running in your blog or website(YES! You can have Advertlets running in other sites besides blogs) and have visitors(no visitor, no money, as simple as that, it applies to any other ad networks), money will be going in. This is why again… I remove Nuffnang from this blog to join TITAN.

For Nuffnang… See below…

Screen captured it today, I’m a Glitterati now with my irenelaw.com. Had deleted this blog from Nuffnang. I wasn’t a Glitterati when I had Sweet Surrender in there. My earnings so far… Still RM0.00 in my account after my cash out on 13th. It won’t be moving until they assign an ad to me, those CPCs don’t count, unless somebody clicks on it but the chance is low to have constant clicks, it would likely to take ages to have the earning move to another RM50. I’ll see how long will I get the account moving again… If not much movement after maybe 3-6 months(depends on my mood), I might just remove it from irenelaw.com and replace it with Advertlets.

I Need To Read Books

Posted on February 16, 2008February 16, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on I Need To Read Books

I’ve not been reading books for like… More than 10 years!!! I used to read a lot when I’m younger especially books like Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew and other children story books. Now, I only read magazines such as Reader’s Digest. In fact this is the only thing I read nowadays except newspapers and blogs :P. Used to read CLEO, Female, Women’s Weekly, and Wanita but now no more… See! I really need to read more books!

Reading is fun, the way I read book is quite funny 😛 You know how? I read the first few pages, then flip to the last few pages to read the ending. Regardless of how the ending is, I will still go back to front where I stopped and continue. Hahaha…

Advertlets and FACES, you hear this? Do me a little favour will you? Give me those books and make me read books! I need to read books!

Irene needs to read books! Irene needs to snuggle up to bed with books and not snuggle up with laptop!

Valentine’s @ Jalan Song

Posted on February 16, 2008 By sweet surrender 7 Comments on Valentine’s @ Jalan Song

After singing K at Enter K, we went to Sin Wan, Jalan Song for very late dinner. Met up with Tim, Ting and Anna there.

Left: Milk Cincao(RM1.70)
Right: Batu Kawa meatballs noodles, I’m not sure how much. I think it’s at least RM5 and above each.

Left: Chu chang fen with prawn and char sio filling (RM5)
Right: China BBQ Vegetables. Never tried it but seen it at Mooncake Festival Bazaar at Carpenter Street before.

Left: BBQ…
Right: Potato(RM0.50/stick), looked crispy but it’s not. By default they would top it with chili powder(more like MSG overloaded, not very spicy). Therefore if you are not the kind that can’t stand even a bit of spiciness, you can ask them to top it with other powder, not sure what else they have 😛 Could be just salt or MSG hahaha…

Left: BBQ Lady’s fingers(RM1) on top of brinjal. It’s just lady’s fingers hahaha…
Right: BBQ brinjal(RM2), just brinjal with overloaded MSG hahaha…

There are also tofu, cucumbers, cuttlefish, chicken feets, chicken wings and fishballs.

On other note… Many people thought that Anna is my sister :p Hahaha… Many said that we look alike… Here’s the photos taken that night… Sisters? Hmmm…
