Let’s start a quick post of my road trip with CatsFM’s Rangers 2 weeks back.
We gathered early at CatsFM office waiting to depart to our first destination Sri Aman.
Left: The team of Cats Rangers working hard to promote Visit Sarawak Year 2014 during this road trip. The promotional activities are ongoing throughout the year. So spot them somewhere in town, you’ll get to win prizes from them.
Right: We had our breakfast at Restauran AVS (Lot 649, Serian Town District, Jalan Serian By Pass, Serian, 94700) somewhere near Petronas in Serian before starting our long road trip. I always go to Serian but this is my first time coming across this place ;p simply because my family normally will have Chinese food here than Indian food. I heard this is the only Indian restaurant in Serian. They have another branch in Demak Laut.
Left: Nasi Goreng, not bad looking right? I don’t know how it tasted, it was someone else food ;p
Right: Roti Canai kosong. You can choose to have your choice of curry to go with it. Not bad. Haven’t eaten any decent roti canai for awhile. Had dhal curry with it but the curry was a bit bland.
After our breakfast in Serian, we started our journey.
Sri Aman it is after 2 1/2 to 3 hours drive but the ride felt like forever! About 194-km from Kuching. Thanks to the road hahaha… If back in Adelaide, this amount of time of driving is a breeze but not here of course 😀 However, the view is not something you see everyday, so it’s something different to see when you’re on the road.
Sri Aman is a market town and port, and the capital of Sri Aman District and Sri Aman Division in Sarawak, east Malaysia. Sri Aman is also called Bandar Sri Aman, and was formerly known as Simanggang.

The temple that you will definitely see next to the river. If you have heard of Tidal Bore Festival aka Pesta Benak, this is the town famous for it. During this time of the year, it will be flooded with people.
What is Pesta Benak?
This event happens every year in May at Batang Lupar River Front At Sri Aman Town. Pesta Benak is one of Sarawak’s iconic event and celebrated on a grand scale. How to get there? Drive or take the bus from Kuching Sentral or inquire with the nearest travel agents.
This is my second time here. Aman means peaceful, it’s indeed a very peaceful quiet little town. After a brief stop at Sri Aman, we continued our journey to Sibu. To be continued…
