Let’s get cultured! I’m not a musical person so ahahah… don’t expect much from me. I went there because I was invited by Jimmy and the tickets were given free by his friend. Why not? Free ticket and never attend one before. There were RM10, 20 and 50 tickets. It’s organized by Kenwy Music House and co-organized by Kuching Oriental Musical Group(I’m not sure about the correct name of this, I just translate it word by word :P, there’s no English name or anything for it and it’s all purely conducted in Mandarin). It’s held at Kenyalang Movie Theater.
Again… It’s all in Mandarin and I really don’t know how to translate. No scripts for me and all preformaces were in Mandarin. Can only briefly lead you tru’ with the pictures. The pictures weren’t in a good quality coz we were sitting quite far. We reached there at about 6pm++, it’s already packed, so hard to find parking place because at the same time, another programme would start at 8pm, it’s Gary Chaw’s concert at the community hall. Therefore, everyone went there early so that could secure a proper parking place.
Let’s start to get cultured. It’s a night of "Songs and Smiles"(direct translation again ;P)
Chinese traditional musical instruments orchestra (combination of the students both organisers) led by the owner of the the music house itself, Mr. Kenwy Ho. I really don’t know how to introduce this guy. He has a master in music and have quite a number of achievements under his belt in China. I tried to googled him but… not much of him, only briefly mentioned about him such as he’s one of the judges for a big scale singing competition and those common news stuffs. It’s in Chinese summore… Don’t have much of his profile. Hmmm… so… *SHRUG* He was CHMNO1 student. Then furthered his study in music at China. The music house only started operation for about 3 months and has quite a number of students already.
Then another recital led by another guy, I don’t’ know his name. π All I can remember is one of the recitals was "Lengang Kangkong", a reknown Malaysia old folks song.
Next… the choir of Kenwy Music House singing some Chinese oldies. After that, Lena or Lina(not so sure) Ballet Academy performed their dance, "Peter Pan". Kinda like it π they were very graceful.
After the dance, (Left)a solo "er hu"(a chinese musical instrument) recital with support music from modern musical instrument.
(Right)All the children of Kenwy Music House presented us with their dances and their songs. There were all first timer on the stage but did a very good job.
There was a solo of the "master" itself. He sang an Italian song, Caro Mio Ben. Then his student from Hong Kong, a 10-year-old boy came all the way to Kuching to participate in his show by playing the "yang qun"(another Chinese musical instrument). This little boy is a musical genius and have won lots of awards.
However no picture for these, too blur.
Next, Kenwy led his students including the little boy performing the "yang qun"(above). Kenwy majored in this instrument while in uni.
After the orchestra, the students of Kenwy Music House sang lots of songs, one oldies and lots of current popular songs.
Right: Another Chinese musical instrument. A type of trumpet :P.
Solo performance of "yang qun" by Kenwy(left) and then he led his choir again. They sang two songs however after the first song was sang, as a pro, he wanted the best for his audiences because the sound system were out of tuned, he requested to resing the first song .
After the two songs, all other students came up to the stage too as the finale.
The show ended at around 9.45pm. Of course, a group picture is a must for thing like this. Here’s all the students, the teachers, the crews and Kenwy’s parents.
One bad part was that, the lightings hurts my eyes because the theater doesn’t have a high ceiling, so all those lights were shown into my eyes π Other than that, it’s consider a great job for them. Keep it up!
