Kuching Festival 2007 (2)

Posted on August 6, 2007August 7, 2007 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Kuching Festival 2007 (2)

It’s all about food that we had the last two days(04/08/07 and 05/08/07). Some pics were missing because we forgot to take photos of them 😛 Hehehe… Too hungry, only could think of eating rather than taking pictures.

Left: I don’t know what is this, I don’t like it. A type of prawn dish.
Right: The octopus takoyaki, ewwww… The octopus didn’t taste fresh. It’s different from last year’s but from the same stall. The size shrinked to half of last year’s. Not recommended. This is taiwan’s version. I still prefer the one at Jalan Song, the Japanese version and they are huge with lots of bonito!

Iglool… You can try it cheaper here but I think the portion is a bit small compare to those in their shops. Flavours are limited too. However, RM10 for 3 is consider OK.

I-Chi-Ban, had it once years ago. Bought it again and I found out that I don’t like it 😛 I ate a bit only, the rest was settled by the guys.

Hot candy. Bought the “original” at RM1.50 per stick. It’s actually marshmallows that are heated. It’s quite nice but kinda sweet 😛 They have other choices such as sprinkle with cheese or some colour candies, lace with chocolates…

Teo Chew Style Oyster Omelette or fondly known as “o-jien”. Yummy… It’s supposed to be crispy but we took a long time to find for a place to sit, so it became like this. Still tasted good.

Left: Yam Cha Kueh that I didn’t taste any yam in there. Not recommended.
Right: Stingray with sambal. Very spicy!

Something new this year, the chocolate fountain. Tried the one with strawberry, RM2 per stick. They freezed the strawberry. I don’t really like it. I mean the chocolate hahaha… However, it’s not too sweet unless you opt for marshmallow.

Homemade sushies.

That’s all for the time being on the food. Will sure be going there quite often. It’s so near to my place 😛

Kuching Festival Parade 2007

Posted on August 5, 2007August 6, 2007 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Kuching Festival Parade 2007

Warning: Pictures overloaded!!

OK… The following photos are all taken yesterday. Very colourful parade compare to last year’s. Enjoy… I’m not going to say much about it. Too many things need to do. Someone just got my “bombed”, hehehe… Sorry 😛

Due to the sudden demised of our Mayor, the celebrations were quite low key. Usually there will be fireworks but not yesterday. Besides, the nightly performances at the food fair were cancelled too.

Right: Some of the cosplayers from Swinburne.

One group was walking barefooted!! -.-“

Lion dancing on moving truck -.-” So dangerous.

Top & bottom left: These will give you nightmares 😛

Right: The cosplayers that were left behind because they were late *LOL*

After we were done with our dinner and video shooting at Kuching Festival, we went over to Padang Merdeka where the parade ended there and there were performances by each contingent in front of the main stage. So many people! I hate crowds! This is my first time there and will be my last time too. The photo on the right showing the participants resting after their performance.

Food post coming up…

WOW! Hectic!

Posted on August 5, 2007August 6, 2007 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on WOW! Hectic!

OK! I don’t think I can update anything today! Gosh… It was supposed to be a simple lunch with a friend who just got back from Sydney and ended up more than that!

Not that I complain hehehe.. It’s kinda fun as it’s really unexpected. It’s a whole new experience for me. We were invited by Sandra’s guests that came from Sydney to join them for river cruise after lunch, Sandra also just got back from Sydney few weeks ago. Since they said they would pay for us, hehehe… Might as well join them :P. Did a lot of touristy stuff today! We became tourists of our own city and at same time as tourist guides. Summore, out of sudden, some KL friends gave a a surprise saying that they are in Kuching!

Gosh… I have 4-5 posts(yesterday and today) or more also video posts that will come soon. I don’t think I can manage to get one post up by today. I just got back from bringing some KL friends around.

Till then… I’m going to edit a lot of pic now for updates! Hehehe…

Travel Companion(s)/Tour Guide(s) Needed

Posted on August 4, 2007November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 13 Comments on Travel Companion(s)/Tour Guide(s) Needed

OK! I’m planning to do a bit of travelling this year end and next year. I’m looking for a travel companion else a tour guide is fine. If I can’t get a travel companion, then I need a tour guide 😛

These are my plans:
Miri. Early October 2007, 3 days 2 nights. I need a tour guide. Anyone one in Miri that is kind enough to bring me around?

KL, Genting. December 2007. If it works out. I don’t need a travel companion or tour guide. Just to let you know that I’ll be going over and if you want to meet up with me, you have to arrange with me for lucnh or dinner or I might have a meet the fan session by then 😛 I will let you know where I will be and you just come and join me hehehe… Of course, pay for your own food and drinks. *AHEM* Anyone wanna sponsor?

Perth, Australia. March or April or October or November 2008. I need a tour guide. Hehehe… If I can stay at your place that would be great 😛 I can save on my accomodation expenditure *LOL* Else, I would like you to help me find a place that is affordable enough to stay for at least 1 week, preferable a place with own bathroom if I’m not staying with you hehe… I don’t mind sharing a bathroom with you if I’m staying with you. Doubt that it will be so affordable for 1 week hahaha… It would be great too if you can pick me up from the airport 😛 Anyway, this is just a plan. I really hope I can visit Perth next year.

Star Cruise. Next year. Not sure when, depending on their offers and not when haze or rainy season. Can be twin sharing or quad sharing. If twin sharing, I would prefer a girl hehehe… As for quad sharing I don’t mind with a mixture of girls and boys. However, I heard twin sharing is more worth it. Anyone?

Singapore. Hmmm… As I have relative there, I might be staying with them. Not so sure. I might go or might not go. If I have travel companion(s), then that would be great! I don’t need to stay with my relative. Hehehe… We can share the accommodation cost.

Basically these are the places that I plan to go in near future. I would love to go somewhere further such as Hong Kong, Japan, NZ, US, UK but these require much more money $_$

Kuching & I

Posted on August 4, 2007August 4, 2007 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Kuching & I

I’m sorry for the ads lately. Really need the money 😛 Hehehe… They are too good to resist but I did come out with quality posts right? *looking innocently at you* Please don’t leave me…

😛 Actually this newspapers interview was published last Saturday but I’m so lazy to post it up as I was lazy to scan the newspapers until a friend sent the softcopy to me hehehe… Might as well post it up here. First page summore! My mom exclaimed, “What are you doing in the front page of the newspapers!?!?!” *LOL* As she doesn’t know how to read Chinese.

Goshh… I should have give him my own photo hahaha…

If you are wondering what is the content is all about it’s about my opinion about Kuching and Kuching Festival. Click on the picture to view the full article.

For those that have no idea how to read, I’ll give you a summarised translation of it. At least I can translate better than those that do translation for our subtitles in TV and movies hahaha…

I’m happy to live in Kuching. Kuching is a nicer place to stay compare to West Malaysia. Kuching is small and everyone practically knows each other.

However, I don’t like the public transport here. It’s very hard to travel without our own transport. I heard about tourists lamented about this problem too.

Next, it’s no longer safe anymore. Too many crimes happening. I don’t feel safe. Even tourists also fell victim to these crimes.

Our salary is quite low also. Prices of things are increasing. Many people are not very happy about it.

As for Kuching Festival, it’s meant to commemorate the elevation of Kuching from town to city status, there should be some exhibitions about the history of Kuching. This will let the younger generations know about the purpose of the celebration instead of only know how to have fun.

I’m glad to see that many people from all walks of life support this festival.

Khoon Chai, thanks for the interview 🙂

Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
