Memories Grand Cafe Promotion

Posted on March 18, 2008March 18, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Memories Grand Cafe Promotion

After watching the movie, it’s time for dinner. Couldn’t think of where to go until we sudddenly saw a banner outside of Memories Grand Cafe saying that they have dinner promotion going on now!

That’s how we ended up here. Spent too much lately… Have to save as much as possible. Sigh…

The drinks, you can choose to have Ribena, Lime Juice, Hot Coffee/Tea, Iced Tea, Iced Coffee or Iced Barley by adding on RM1.60 each. The two you see here are Ribena and Lime Juice.

The special set dinner has Grilled Chicken(RM8), Seafood Spaghetti(RM13.90), Lamb Chop(RM9), Beef Spaghetti(RM8), Rosemary Grilled Lamb(RM12), Sirloin Steak(RM12), Seafood Platter(RM10) and Fish & Chips(RM9). You can also add-on appetizers such as Mushroom Cream Soup, Wedges, Garlic Bread which is RM2.50 each.

Left: Rosemary Grilled Lamb(RM12), served with fried rice and fries. The lamb was marinated and grilled with Rosemary. It’s so “well-marinated” that it tasted too flavourful(a bit too salty) until I couldn’t really taste the lamb. However, the lamb wasn’t hard, it’s very tender. Of course it’s not good but at least it’s way better than Westwood! The portion was not bad, it’s quite big with that kind of price, I’m given with two pieces of lambs, I was expect one piece only. Was pretty full after that.

Right: Sirloin Steak(RM12), served with fried rice and fries. They didn’t ask how well-done we wanted it to be and turned out they gave us well-done steak, a bit tough but not that tough till like cutting rubber, I could still cut them easily without much force. It’s also “well-marinated”. Again it’s way better than Westwood in terms of portions, look, taste and price!

The promotion isn’t that bad. At least we were fully fed with a fraction of price though the lamb and the beef weren’t up to the supposed standard which no-need-say-also-know-la, since not many places serve good western food in Kuching, good ones are expensive, not many people can afford to spend that kind of money including me. If I were to spend at those places, I would have to be extra careful in spending for the next 2-3 months and have to eat at home every single day also *LOL*. Even if I have the money, I won’t have anyone to go there with me because no one will want to go with me. I asked before, they would give me the look of ngaiti-you-kidding-me-they-are-so-expensive *SWEAT*.

Still it’s better than you-know-where.

Flood

Posted on March 17, 2008March 17, 2008 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Flood

My first movie of 2008, Flood. Watched it at Star Cineplex yesterday. They had changed their ticketing system. I know… I know… I’m late in reporting this because I’m not a cinema goer. I only go to cinema one or 2 times a year or worst, never! I don’t go hu ha over movies.

Back to the movie. It’s an OK but not so OK(hahaha… basically neutral) movie for entertainment purpose and there were some goofs here and there(I didn’t realise because I’m not good in UK’s geography, just found out from the Internet) and the ending was quite abrupt.

Here’s the excerpt of the movie:

Timely yet terrifying, The Flood predicts the unthinkable. When a raging storm coincides with high seas it unleashes a colossal tidal surge, which travels mercilessly down England’s East Coast and into the Thames Estuary. Overwhelming the Barrier, torrents of water pour into the city. The lives of millions of Londoners are at stake. Top marine engineers and barrier experts Rob, his ex-wife Sam and his father Leonard Morrison, have only a few hours to save the city from total devastation.

If not because of what had happend on 2004 Boxing Day, I would be able to enjoy this kind of movie genre. HELL NO! Many times I had to hold back my tears thinking of what had happened few years back. At one point where the scene showing bodies floating around, I almost broke down but luckily I managed to hold my composure.

I shouldn’t have agree to watch this movie! I didn’t realise it’s this kind of story. I’m not a movie buff, I’m out of sync with the movie industry. When I was suggested with this movie, I didn’t think much at all and just agreed because all I’m thinking is to watch movie with the free tickets and I didn’t mind what type of movie to watch.

Anyway, I didn’t see any good review about it on the Internet.

Review It!

Singapore Chicken Rice @ Jalan Song Thian Cheok

Posted on March 15, 2008March 15, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Singapore Chicken Rice @ Jalan Song Thian Cheok

Been there many times but didn’t update about it, since I have quite a lot of photos from there, I’m going to update it now.

Left: This is the outlet at jalan Song Thian Cheok, few shops away from Secret Recipe.
Right: One of their latest drinks, 3 sour drink(RM1.90), I don’t really remember the name, very huge glass, it was so sour when I first had it before CNY(as you can see from the interior photo 😛 Very belated post)!! However, I had it yesterday again, it’s not that sour anymore, it’s sweeter now. There’re sour plum, lemon slice, lemon and lime juice in there. Had difficulty finishing it, too big glass.

Standard chicken rice comes with a bowl of soup, a plate of rice, a plate of chicken. If you go there in 5, means you will get portion of chicken(mixed or roasted or steamed) for 5 persons, 5 bowls of soup, and 5 plates of rice. If you are alone, then you can’t mix the chicken(steamed and roasted).

You can also order side dishes, we ordered the mixed vegetables(RM7), very expensive and not nice.

Left: I had Sarawak Laksa yesterday, very thick and portion was big, RM3.80. Didn’t taste too good but better than the one we had at Madam Tang’s the other day.
Middle and right: This is a set in conjunction of their 20th Anniversary(or 25th? can’t remember :P) Only RM4.60 per person! It came with a glass of lime juice, a plate of rice, a plate of chicken for 1 person, and a bowl of soup. Very cheap! Not bad.

So that’s all… Hehehe… By the way, go over to sarawakian.net and earn points to redeem cool prizes!! Be sure to always check the right top corner section to collect points!

GO! GO! GO! Go earn Y! Point from Sarawakian.net to redeem cool prizes!!! Look out at the right top corner of Sarawakian.net!

Wednesday was my bro’s birthday. Our initial plan was to go to KFC at Boulevard to have dinner but when we were there, we switched plan because RasaMas is opened!!

RasaMas… A new concept in Malaysian-Style dining.

The cheapest food started from RM7.90. For our first visit, we decided to order the cheapest of all *LOL* Else it would be at least RM10 for each person, there were 4 of us. Trying to save some money hahaha…

The Local Favourites are all RM7.90 and there are 4 types to choose. Since there were 4 of us, we decided to order them. That way we could taste all 4 of them.

First of all, they have 3 types of chicken, Percik(lots of ginger, looked yellowish), Black Pepper(very straight forward hahaha…), Golden Roasters(the standard one). You can choose one of them for all items with chicken.

Left: Curry Laksa, the taste of the milk was thick! We got a bit of shock seeing the “char siew” in there *LOL*, impossible they served pork hehehe… It’s actually chicken version of “char siew”.

Right: Nasi Lemak with Golden Roasters. The sambal was OK, nothing much to rave.

Left: Spicy Noodle with Percik, you can also opt for Original. Pretty spicy. This one is really not recommended.

Right: Chicken Porridge+1/4 Roaster, this one we opted for Black Pepper. The porridge was quite tasteless.

Overall, the chickens were dry -.-” The food so-so. Won’t be ordering all these for the second time, might try others next time. Their drinks are expensive!! We only ordered two drinks, Ice Lemon Tea and Mango Juice both RM2.95

Total damage of the night, RM39.38. Was very full but not satisfied.
