One TJ

Posted on January 3, 2009January 3, 2009 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on One TJ

One TJ, I’m sure many of you are familiar with this place and it seems like not getting much good feedback from people that I know. It’s said to be the ICT shopping complex in Kuching. I don’t know… Seems nothing much to me.

I didn’t go to the soft opening but managed to go there last year before Christmas for the supposed bridal fair but ended up nothing there and being greeted with emptiness everywhere! Hmmm… I don’t know… Maybe it was called off because of poor responses?

The place is so narrow and small, it’s not like what I had expected and it was so empty in the food court -.-” There’s a blogger zone but I’m not sure how it will benefit the bloggers *LOL* All I know is that I will surely not go over there because it’s too out of the way for me and nothing interest me there also. It’s just a WiFi available section with some power outlets for your laptop.

Anyway… Here are some photos to share:

Samba Zone, the food court.

See how empty and narrow? I wonder how are they going to have the bridal fair with such space? Summore with the nightly fashion show? *SCRATCH HEAD* I have no idea…

Bye Bye Doulos…

Posted on January 2, 2009January 2, 2009 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Bye Bye Doulos…

1st January, how did you spend it?

I went to Doulos for a while(near my house ;p) to buy some books as souvenirs hahaha… If I didn’t go and buy something at least, I sure will regret and the worst thing is that there is no more next time, this is the last time we will see Doulos as it will retire next year and be replaced by a new ship which will be different by then. I learnt to draw and colour from the books my parents bought there last time. Storybooks were bought there too. It has such sentimental value.

So many people! I just grab and go. I didn’t go for adult books instead some colouring and sticker books for children hahaha… Adult books got too many words to digest and I didn’t want to spend too much time there, it’s so humid -.-” Ended up I spent RM20 on these:

Hahaha… So childish *BLEK* Don’t care, at least I got something. Will I complete the activities in the books? I’m not sure or I might ended up donating it to somewhere next time who knows… ;p

Finally I got the photos taken during the open ship day (27/12/2008), luckily I’m having my semester break, else I won’t be able to make it as I have class everyday Saturday afternoon and they only have activities till 5pm. I’ll be still class that time. I looked horrible in those hanbok because of the wrong angles especially those at the make shift studio and not that good also with the frame but at least slightly better than in the make shift studio.

Lastly, bye bye Doulos…

Happy 2009

Posted on January 1, 2009January 1, 2009 By sweet surrender 21 Comments on Happy 2009

I’m here wishing all of you Happy 2009!

Nothing much I’m going to write. I’m not going to reflect on last year and I do not have any resolution also. By the time you see this post which I doubt that because most of you are out there busy with new year’s countdown, I’ll be in front of my bedroom window trying to capture the civilian sponsored fireworks around Kuching. I still can’t get nice photos of fireworks with my new Ixus.

Anyway… Take care everyone!

Lastly, I’m extremely vain lately, so I end this post with this…

All the photos taken in December 2008.

Happy new year!

Update 6.20pm:
The fireworks last night. Not many, I guess people are saving it for coming CNY which is less than one month to go hehehe… Ignore the street light… What to do? The fireworks were from that direction.

Mini Bloggers Dinner @ Sarawak Club with Minex Jewellery

Posted on December 31, 2008January 1, 2009 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Mini Bloggers Dinner @ Sarawak Club with Minex Jewellery

Remember the treasure hunt? As a token of appreciation from Minex to some bloggers and friends for helping them to promote the event, Ben decided to treat us for a dinner after I jokingly stated that whoever got sick searching for the treasure under the rain can ask Ben to boil chicken soup for them ;p The joke turned out to be real that Ben decided to treat us “chicken soup”. Lukcily it’s not just chicken soup, no chicken soup but got chicken meat hahaha…

Last night, we were all dressed up to gather at Sarawak Club. My second time to Sarawak Club. First time was more than 10 years ago, went there swimming with my friend. This is the first time I step into the new Sarawak Club after the fire few years back.

Must camwhore! If not wasted my time for dressing up hehehe… I’m so glad my hair behaved so well last night. Amiey and I, we(Amiey, Cyril, Jimmy and I) were so early! 😉 We reached before 7pm.

Finally, everyone arrived and it’s time to order food and drinks. We had our dinner at Hornbill Restaurant. Ben booked two tables for us.

The fact is that I was expecting a private room hehehe… This is because after organising so many bloggers’ meets, I know that bloggers are usually the loud bunch and also camwhoring bunch. When I saw that we were seated in the main hall, I was thinking to myself, “OH… OH… This is going to be interesting! I hope it won’t get Ben into trouble”.

It really got so noisy that I think the table behind us was suppsoed to have a peaceful family dinner ended up got distracted by the noise from the other table hahaha… That table got so many stares last night from the diners. *SWEAT* Before they left, we were told by one of them that we could have the hall to ourselves as we were the last ones to leave, paiseh…

I’m sure it’s an eye opener to Ben and Varena. Usually people pray before they eat but we take pictures before we eat. Then we camwhored a lot! Imagine all the cameras last night, luckily not many flashes else it sure got on the nerves of the diners there. Hehehe… The other table was noisy and ours were quite quiet but with many camera’s clicking away! I actually camwhored with the DSLRs that I could get my hands on ;p

According to Michael, our table was filled with “old” people and his table was filled with “young” people that’s why our table wasn’t happening *LOL* The youngest at our table was Amiey who just graduated from secondary school and the youngest at their table got some secondary school students. See that? ;p

Some of the drinks(watermelon, honey dew, lime, and orange juice) and the menu.

Ben & Varena sure fed us to the max ;p Was so full that I couldn’t sleep last night. The food was really tasty! Usually food like this won’t get much comments from me because I got so fed up of eating these kind of food already but those we had last night sure blown me away. Yummy… Yummy… CRAP! I’m craving for last night food now -.-”

The food and drinks here are reasonably priced but it’s only for the members, not public. If only we can get such nice food and such prices out there in the market. Too bad… No… If you want to dine here, you have to know someone in here to get you in. You can afford the food but you sure cannot afford the membership fee. It’s a private club what, what do you expect?

Now… I have to dig the menu out to see what Ben & Vanera ordered last night. I’m not so sure whether they are corect or not even with the menu hehehe…

Left: I can’t find this in the menu, it’s sweet corn soup.

Right: Special Hot and Cold Combination, this should be it as I can’t find others that fit the name well. The sushi’s wasabi tasted odd, the boxing chicken is nice but i had problem eating with chopsticks and ended up using my fingers *BLEK*. As for the rest, I got nothing to say.

Left: You come here, you must eat the Buttered Prawn. They are famous for their buttered prawn. It was indeed nice. I thougth it came with the shells but no shell at all.

Right: Lamb Chop Szechuan Style, it’s nice. I love it, the meat is very tender.

Left: Seriously, I have no idea what this is, there’s mango, there’s jellyfish, there’s chicken meat with mayonaise and the crispy chicken skin. My guess according to the menu is Roasted Chicken Thai Style because of the mango in there. Something special and different, I like the skin.

Right: A type of beancurd dish, I’m not sure what is this! Really, I can’t find which name suits it in the menu. Could be Homemade Beancurd?

Left: Baby Kailan with Garlic, very fresh vegetable and crunchy too but too bad was quite full and managed to eat some only.

Right: Palm Fruit & Longan, very sweet!!

Group photo before we leave.

Thanks for the dinner Minex.

MV Doulos Open Day

Posted on December 30, 2008December 31, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on MV Doulos Open Day

Went to MV Doulos again last Saturday. Didn’t manage to buy some children books (for fun ;p) coz the queue was too loooooong. It will end soon, if not mistaken it’s until 1st January 2009, this will be the last day.

Let’s see the acitivies during last Saturday.

Activity area isn’t very big. So many people there because it’s weekend and this is the last day of the open ship.

So many people wanted to get hold of the hats and clothings to take photos but sadly… There were some people that were very selfish knowing that many people were waiting for the costumes but they hogged it and took their sweet time snapping around with it. Not those in the photos, these are those with manners.

The most popular costume was the hanbok (Korea’s) and also because there’s more than one available and it’s very colourful. I managed to try quite a number of them but I don’t have the photos with me because someone doesn’t bother to send it to me. You-know-who-you-are la hahaha… Still dare to ask me what photos. *knock your head*

You can get your hands painted and children can play with the toys and do some colourings there. There are also items from different countries on display.

The pretty Korean girl singing some songs. When she started to sing, so many cameras started to aim at her direction and snapping away hehehe… She’s very cute and her hanbok is very pretty. As for the bold guy, you can get your name decorated by him.

You can also learn to cut snowflakes and some “stones” for unknown boardgames.

Few more days to do… Will I go again before it leaves? Maybe yes, maybe not.

Blogging since 2002. Anything before 2006 is no longer available. It is no longer on this server. Back then, I built my own blog and updated it using HTML. No database or anything. Only started blogging fully with a CMS in 2006. However, whatever was on the Internet will stay on the Internet. So... It should be still somewhere on the Internet. Then again... Why do you want to dig that far?
