Tomorrow’s Leader Summit – Day Two

Posted on March 23, 2011March 23, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Tomorrow’s Leader Summit – Day Two

Day one started at 9am but I only reached there at 9.30am because I had some last minute matter to attend to.

Nobel Laureate, Professor Douglas D. Osheroff. In case you’re wondering, he won The Nobel Prize in Physics in 1996.

Didn’t catch most of the things he talked about *LOL* Too scientific and deep for normal people like us to understand ;p However, did learn some strategies and skills from him about how to be successful. I missed out some parts because I went to the toilet. I heard he did talk about his marriage but I missed it and this was the part where most remembered and could digest.

After that, we had time for some refreshments.

Left: Norman introduced Deputy Minister of Social Development & Urbanisation (Youth & Training) Sarawak – Y.B. Larry Sng Wei Shien to us. Of course, we took photo with him. The youngest YB in Malaysia. He won his first election when he was only 22! I hope I recall it correctly.

Very handome right? I couldn’t recognize him when I first saw him in person at Starbucks as all those time I saw him in the newspapers only. He’s better looking in person hahaha… Too bad girls… Don’t put any hope, he’s married. If not mistaken he’s around my age.

Norman chatted to him for almost 2 hours standing up! I was there with them too. The 3 of us stood there at the back of the hall talking while the other delegates participated in the Leaders Panel Session. I was more like listening than talking ;p If not because the PM’s and CM’s wives were coming, I think the conversation wouldn’t stop.

Ok… Note to self, next time I must not stand with my side facing the camera because I looked so small when I’m already small enough hahaha…

Right: As usual Puan Sri Ragad, our CM’s wife with some people I don’t know ;p She’s always the centre of attraction wherever she goes.

As usual, Datin Paduka Sri Rosmah Mansor gave her speech. I didn’t get to take photo with her, some bloggers did if I’m not mistaken.

I had no one helping me with it and there were so many people trying to have their photos taken with her and I overheard some of the staffs were complaining that it’s taking too long. So I scrapped the idea. The photo on the right is how near I managed to get to her.

Some bloggers also managed to take photos with the CM’s wife. I didn’t get the chance too because same case, too many poeple. If I was sitting with my friends, then it’s much easier.

After the morning session ended, we took our opportunity to take photos with each other. In fact I have no idea since when I started to get pretty lazy to take out my camera to take photos with people and relied on others’ cameras which usually ended up I didn’t manage to get a copy for printout. Bad, bad, bad…

Here with guests from Singapore, Yap Kwong Weng from United Nations Association of Singapore(the one with blue tie) and David(second row, standing at the right most) who is a teacher from Singapore.

Another shoot. In this photo, we’re all below 30 years old!

I didn’t think of attending the workshop in the afternoon because I have some other thing on in the afternoon but I managed to get back at 4.45pm. Wanted to join Fashion workshop which started at 4.30pm but it was full so I joined Journalism.

Grace Ng from NTV7 was the speaker. We were required to come out with our business plan which was media related such as website, online TV show, newsletter and etc in a team of 3 or 2. It was easy for Cyril and I as we were not new in such thing hehehe… So we got Priscilla to pitch her idea and we expanded it from there but too bad she left earlier.

Last but not least, our group photo.

I did not join the activities on Day Three. It was the declarations and I heard there was very intense debate by the youths and they rejected the declarations. Not sure how it ended though. However, it was an interesting experience for those who managed to join the declarations.

Bye Bye Kuching, Hello Adelaide

Posted on March 22, 2011March 22, 2011 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Bye Bye Kuching, Hello Adelaide

I’m supposed to post this post the morning I depart but was too busy repacking.

I’m sure many of you still don’t know about this, I’m composing this mail in KLIA while waiting for my connecting flight to Adelaide, Australia. Flight delayed for one hour, my very first flight delay but luckily not that long.

This is my very first time leaving home for an extended time. From now on, I’ll be updating about my life in Aussie instead of Kuching. Gonna come back about 15 months later. Well… Maybe I’ll be back this year end, we’ll see how.

In case you’re wondering what I’m doing there. I’ll be doing my post grad studies at UNISA. Likely to find a part-time job there too to cover my entertainment and travelling expenditure. It’s gonna be a new phase of my life. Will I stay back there after my studies? I’m not sure yet. I’m just letting it goes as the flow. Many joked that’ll find a husband there hahaha… It’s possible, nothing is impossible. You’ll never know ;p

I’m too pampered at home, anything I need, I can obtain easily. Now I’m on my own. Everything I have to do it myselfSo this is a good way to train myself to be more independent.

Frankly I’m quite blank. I’m still not sure how I will cope with life there. Things are very uncertain. I have only about one year to experience this whole thing so I will do my best to embrace it to the fullest.

Sometimes I’m thinking to myself, “What the heck are you doing?!?! You are living like a princess at home and now you want to go out there to torture yourself?!?!”; sometimes I’ll think, “WEEE! Finally can see the world out there and do something I”ve never done before. Finally my dream comes true to study overseas.” So fickle minded.

Anyway, business is still running as usual, it will resume once I settled down. Now, just treat it as if I’m going for a holiday. Basically, I’ll be a tourist in Adelaide for the coming 2 weeks before my orientation starts.

Actually, I kind of regretted flying off so early, should fly on 28th, at least still have one week to stay in Kuching and save one week of expenditure there. Oh well… What’s done is done.

Continuing this post… Finally got Internet but it’s pitiful. 4GB quota per month! -.-” Oh well… What to do, can only use mobile broadband. Now using it, the speed not so bad. Hope I don’t jinx it.

I’m feeling kind of overwhelm now and clueless, don’t know where to start but it’s just temporary because I’m new here and many things not settles yet. Not yet get my Aus number, wanna sign up just now but system crashed so I didn’t want to wait because I’m feeling exhausted. Body is aching. Might be due to all the heavy luggage and lack of sleep in the plane.

The weather cloudy and raining on and off today. The wind too, one minute windy, another minute no more wind. For the record, I spent about AUD135+. Luckily there’s clearance sales going on and I managed to get some expensive essential stuffs very very cheaply else it would be more.

Will update more once I got more photos as I didn’t take much photos today, wait till I’m more familiar with the place. I was just loitering around this afternoon. Luckily I have 2 weeks to settle, really not that easy. Room is in a mess too, will show you the before after when I got everything arranged ;p

Signing off for now.

Bye bye Kuching, Hello Adelaide.

Tomorrow’s Leader Summit Welcome Dinner

Posted on March 20, 2011March 20, 2011 By sweet surrender 5 Comments on Tomorrow’s Leader Summit Welcome Dinner

Finally, it’s the night of Tomorrow’s Leader Summit Gala Dinner. It happened at BCCK on Friday night.

It was free seating. At first, we were seated at the back, very very near the entrance but we were asked to move to the front after the CM arrived, the very very front!

Left: We moved to the table for Ahli-ahli Yang Berhormat (literally translate it as members of the respectable ;p). Suddenly we’re upgraded!

Right: Our CM and wife was there. Thanks to the flashes from the DSLRs, this is the best photo I managed to get of CM’s new wife. So excited to see his new found love. She’s quite pretty and she’s of the same age as me if I’m not mistaken. All right… Whatever you want to think, go ahead, I didn’t say anything.

Left: Rice broth with shredded chicken and diced vegetables, it tasted like drinking instant noodle soup -.-”

Right: Not in particular order, the tray consisted of grilled boneless honey chicken with green peas, stir-fried sliced beef, simmered fish in turmeric-chili coconut gravy, lo hon vegetable, stir-fried ocean king prawn with turmeric, sweet and sour deep fried egg beancurd.

Left: Cream caramel with mixed fruit compote.

Right: Group photo but not everyone in here. Luckily I wore black else I’ll be the odd ball hehehe…

After that we called it a night. Getting ready to wake up early for the next day activities.

‘4×4 Dakar Rally Experience’ in Kuching

Posted on March 18, 2011March 19, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on ‘4×4 Dakar Rally Experience’ in Kuching

Found out about The Mitsubishi ‘4×4 Dakar Rally Experience’ last week from the fellow bloggers. I decided to join the media preview. In fact I didn’t know what was going on and so on, I just submitted my name *LOL*

Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia (MMM) is proud to present for the first time ever – the ‘4×4 Dakar Rally Experience’, here in Kuching! The event will take place at Travillion Kuching from 19th -20th March 2011 (Sat-Sun), 9am-9pm.

The one holding the microphone is the CEO of Mitsubishi Malaysia, Mr. Tetsuya Oda. The one sitting on the second right is Dakar Rally Champion from Japan– Hiroshi Masuoka.

Left: Malcolm explaining something I think… I didn’t pay attention! 😛

Right: Sherrie and I camwhored while waiting for our turn to go on high speed taxi ride with Hiroshi Masuoka.

After the press conference, we got the chance to experience high speed taxi ride with Hiroshi Masuoka in Pajero. You will get your chance also if you go over to Travillion Kuching tomorrow or Sunday.

Admission is free and members of the public are encouraged to pre-register their interest (especially for test drive with the Champion) to avoid disappointment. Please contact Mr. Wen at 012 or 082-457810 or email: wen@jimisar.com.my for more information.

A video I took while having the ride in a Pajero:

Left: I was so clumsy LOL. Supposed to camwhore with Hiroshi immediately after the ride but the new camera strap got in my way, wasn’t used to it, then I forgot to change the setting, it was in video. Really clumsy. At the end, the staff there offer to help take the picture. Hair was a mess after taking off the helmet.

Right: Triton in action. I took the ride twice, first time with Pajero, second time with Triton. The later was more powerful but it’s not that extreme because of the make shift track. It’s not meant to be for rally anyway. That’s the best you can get in the city centre. What do you expect? This is enough to give us newbies a taste of how rally is.

Second round, in Triton, ok… Ignore the squel or anything, it was just for fun, it wasn’t that scary really:

To some it’s extreme enough for them, to me, too mild. All I know was that the helmet was too big for me ;p

Since I didn’t know what was it all about, I didn’t expect to go on a ride in it, I wore my heels! Great! Such bimbo hahaha… Got my heels and my foot stucked in the mud when I got down from the car. So funny.

After lunch, Malcolm took us on a ride in the Pajero, also ignore the random conversation hahaha…:

Left: 48 degree if I recall correctly instead of 45 degree. I didn’t tilt my camera. That’s my view from inside the car.

Right: Pajeros and Tritons that are awaiting you to go for a ride starting tomorrow and Sunday.

If you have you intend to take a ride, if you have your own helmet, it’s best to bring your own ;p

Have fun!

ASUS External Slim DVD-RW

Posted on March 17, 2011March 17, 2011 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on ASUS External Slim DVD-RW

Last Sunday, a CD got stucked inside my laptop. We tried so many attempts and wasted so many hours trying to take it out but to no avail. GAH!! I had just formatted my laptop and because of that I couldn’t get any programme to installed. At the end, we decided to get an external DVD-RW. At the same time, asked the people at the shop to help take out the CD but they couldn’t get it out too.

OK! Don’t tell me to find the small hole to eject it, there’s no such thing with slot type optical drive. Very “smart” design indeed! It happened when I have no more warranty, so… What to do? Gonna live with the CD inside the drive and don’t care about it anymore.

In fact I could just take out the drive but it would require time. I really don’t have the luxury of time to tinker with it now. What’s more I have a project that I need to get it done and over with before next Monday. Besides, the drive is practically useless also, even if I managed to take out the CD, it’s not usable anymore unless I want to get another one stucked. At the end, still need to get an external drive.

Anyway, here’s the new ASUS External Slim DVD-RW. Market price is around RM200+

Very sleek right?

Not gonna review it, nothing to review at all LOL. It’s easy to use, plug and play. That’s all I can say.
