Anzac Day 2011

Posted on May 10, 2011May 11, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Anzac Day 2011

Anzac Day happened on 25/4. After so long… Finally I have this posted up.

Woke up early and headed down to King William Street with my friend to watch the parade at 9am.

I’ll just let the photos do the talking. It’s a basically an event to commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries especially those from Australia and New Zealand.

The sun was so sunny.

It’s a good thing or else we’ll all be drenched and my camera will be in deep trouble.

Notorious sun! I had to hide under the shade. Luckily I’m standing under a tree. Just one month plus here and I’m tanned on the second week!

Not in time to take the shoot of the planes that flew by. That’s the problem when you hide under the tree ;p

I have videos for these. Will upload it soon.

Young and old participated in the parade.

We switched location to in front of Hungry Jack’s because wanted to get lunch before the crowd rushed there since that’s one of the very few food outlets that were opened that day.

Left: My friend saw the war veterans and suggested me to take photo with them 😉 Here you go… You don’t get this chance everyday.

Right: The last few troops behind me.

Videos will come soon.

I’m Missing Again…

Posted on May 9, 2011May 9, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on I’m Missing Again…

LOL… Ok… It seems like I’m slowing down again in posting posts. I have quite a number of posts to post but didn’t get the photos edited yet.

Been quite occupied lately with studies and also having fun ;P Also waking up extremely late these days because the weather is turning cold. Broke my record today, woke up at 11am.

All right! Time to sleep. Will post about ANZAC day post tomorrow. Night!

Aqualabel Moisturizing Range

Posted on May 7, 2011May 7, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Aqualabel Moisturizing Range

I joined th Aqualabel contest few months back and I won. We’re required to review the product after using it for 3 weeks. It was sent to my home in Malaysia and my parents sent it over to me here in Adelaide. The air here is dry and it will be a great location to test this range out.

Left: The full-size bottle of Aqua Enhance MO. This is our prize. The other 3 small bottles are for us to test for 3 weeks.

Right: The travel kit consists of Moisture Lotion R, Moisture Emulsion R, and Aqua Enhance MO.

Here’s my verdict:

Moisture Lotion R: Love the feel on my skin. I can instantly feel that my skin is soften after patting it on.

Moisture Emulsion R: This is bascially the moisturizer but sadly it’s not moisturizing enough for me, If not mistaken this is for combination skin still it doesn’t suit me. My skin was secreting oil at the end of the day. Not suitable for the dry air here I guess. Maybe if back home it will work.

Aqua Enhance MO: This is the key product that we’re supposed to test out. I like how it feels on my skin. Can feel as if the skin is infuse with mositure. It helps lock in the moisture. The smell is similar to the lotion (I think… ;p)

This is the sequence how I’m using it:-
(Morning) Lotion – MO – Emulsion – Sunscreen
(Night) Lotion – Emulsion – MO

I tried using it the other way round too for the morning routine, Lotion – Emulsion – MO – Sunscreen, but also not giving me enough moisture.

Since the emulsion doesn’t suit me, I went back with my usual moisturizer. It works better this way. I could feel that my skin is soften and there’s no dry spots visible. So it works. Also, no breakouts! That’s good news as I’ll get breakouts usually when I’m using new products that are not that suitable.

One down side though… The fragrance is a bit too strong for me except the emulsion.

Aqualabel has a wide range of products for different needs. If I recall correct, the pricing start from RM38. You can get it easily from Watsons around Malaysia.

Maya Masala Indian Restaurant

Posted on May 5, 2011May 5, 2011 By sweet surrender No Comments on Maya Masala Indian Restaurant

Oh ya! I just realized I owe you a post on Anzac Day hehehe… Totally forgot about it. It will come soon.

Had a wonderful dinner last night with my friend and his family at Maya Masala Indian Restaurant which is located at 10, Market Street. I’m no expert in Indian food, I seldom had Indian food when I’m in Kuching. If you notice, the only Indian food I had often was roti canai ;p

Left: Menu.

Right: Pappadams (AUD2.80).

Left: Mixed Platter for 2(AUD6.90). 2 pieces of samosa, 2 pieces of sheek kebab & 2 pieces of chicken tikka. The sheek kebad is an acquired taste. Not everyone will like it, it’s quite salty though. The rest of the food on this platter was good. The green thing in the middle is mint+yogurt dipping sauce. This is also something not everyone will like because it tastes like toothpaste hahaha… However, once you got used to it, it’s quite nice especially to have it with the food on the plate.

Right: This is one very interesting entree. Tandoori Paneer Tikka (AUD10.50). Pieces of home made cottage cheese marinated in Indian spices, yoghurt and grilled in the tandoor. My first time having cottage cheese.

Left: Garlic Naan (AUD3.40). Leavened bread topped with garlic cooked in the tandoor. This is good too. YUM!

Right: The main courses.
Starting from top left, I’m not so sure what’s that, could be Tandoori Roti (AUD2.80),
wholemeal unleavened bread cooked in the tandoor; Mutton Curry (AUD16.50), a traditional goat curry on the bone with herbs, spices, green chillies & tomato in Kashmiri style; Basmati Steam Rice (AUD3.00).

Starting from the bottom left, Gosht Mumtaz (AUD17.50), pieces of boneless lamb cooked in a mild traditional cashew nut based curry; Dal Makhani / Dal Tadka (AUD11.90), lentils in a thick gravy flavoured with onion, ginger & garlic; Murg Makhani (AUD16.90), yoghurt & marinated chicken fillet cooked in a cream, tomato & butter sauce.

All were delicious!

The Murg Makhani was a bit too sweet but when had it with rice, it was quite tasty.

The Mutton Curry was a bit spicy but I could tolerate the spiciness. So all is well 😉 Since it came with the bones intact, so it’s a bit hard to eat.

Dal Makhani / Dal Tadka was my least favourite. The taste of spices was a bit too strong.

The rest were just right. Overall, it was a very good meal with very nice dining companions. It’s strange to take the food photos with people you just know and in a foreign country ;p

Not forget also the Mango Lassi, it was THICK! Quite sweet but once you had eaten all those strong flavoured food, it blended in pretty well.

Thanks for inviting me to the dinner 🙂 I Was so stuffed! Haven’t eat this much for 2 years I think… Even when I had food tastings, I wasn’t this stuffed. Only time I’ll be this full was if I’m having all-you-can-eat buffet hahaha…

You can check out more details of this place here…

Nanyang Cafe

Posted on May 3, 2011May 5, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Nanyang Cafe

Accompanied my friends here for lunch almost a month ago ;p

Nanyang Cafe is located somewhere near David Jones in Rundle Mall. Never knew such place exist. They serve Malaysian cuisines but don’t expect anything from Sarawak, it’s all West Malaysian food.

Left: Chicken Laksa(AUD8), this is quite spicy. My friend requested them to add more spiciness into it. I guess the original one shouldn’t be that spicy. Not bad, taste Malaysian.

Right: Hainan chicken rice(AUD8), this one was also good. At least better than some places back home.

Price wise, pretty steep eh? Then again, it should be nothing if you’re earning AUD. Convert to Ringgit is definitely is EXPENSIVE! Can have so many plates of chicken rice or laksa with this price back home hahaha…

By the way, the exchange rate is crazy now! Please come down -.-“
