UniSA Open Day 2011

Posted on August 21, 2011August 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on UniSA Open Day 2011

The weather is sooooo good today! It’s the UniSA Open Day 2011, happening at City West campus. I had signed up to be a volunteer for this event. In the morning I volunteered for the uni and in the afternoon I volunteered for Unilife. Both were great! It was fun. In case you’ve been wondering where on earth I am studying now in Adelaide, this is it! 😉

Left: A photo of me before heading out there. I was given the task to provide direction to visitors. I really enjoyed it. I wish I could help until the end of the event but I had signed up for the other volunteer task in the afternoon with Unilife (a change of t-shirt from blue to yellow and just realized that I didn’t take a photo of me in it ;p).

Right: The welcome booth, I was around this area. Since this was where most people came in and started to locate their destinations, I was practically running around from one person/group to another to help them with the direction. Only one directional staff available at each location. Time flies so fast and it was the end of my shift in the morning.

The following is all the photos I had taken after the end of my shift before starting another shift.

Booths around city west campus.

This is the most interesting booth ;p I saw students from civil aviation and their instructors having coffee break around the area I was working. GOSH! They’re all so handsome and pretty!

Visitors even got to experience flight simulator. Too bad I didn’t get the chance to try it out.

There’s fun activities going on too. I missed the red bull girls!! I thought I would be able to get a can today but I was in the toilet when they were at our booth! Too bad…

It’s a very fun and fulfilling day! This is my first and my last, won’t be here anymore next year to assist in this event unless I continue to do few more subjects to get a master (now, I’m doing graduate diploma, people would go… huh? Let’s put this this way, you can consider it as pre-master, add on 4 more subjects and you’ll get a master degree) hehehe… We’ll see…

Pho Ba Ria 2

Posted on August 20, 2011August 21, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Pho Ba Ria 2

Had Vietnamese food again! Went there for a very late lunch after church.

Pho Ba Ria 2 is located on Hanson Road. Many said that you must try the smoothie especially durian smoothie (AUD3.50)! I don’t think you can find durian smoothie in Malaysia but you can find them in Australia in Vietnamese eateries. It’s real durian! I didn’t dare to try because it can smell unpleasant to people after that especially if you’re not in Asia hahaha… Reminded me someone had durian in the computer pool in uni before -.-” Stunk the whole place!

Sugar cane prawn rolls (AUD13), we ordered the unwrapped rolls so that we could wrap it ourselves. What an experience. You need to dip the sheet into hot water to soften it, then place the ingredients on the sheet and roll! Not easy. Don’t forget to drizzle it with the chili sauce.

The sugar can prawn is quite nice. No more taste for the sugar cane because the flavour is already infused into the prawn. Very tasty dish. I like it.

Broken Rice Combination (small, AUD9.50) with peanut sauce. In fact, we had the peanut sauce with the rolls, it was nice too. YUMMY! Everything was nice, the meat you see here is pork. If not mistaken, you have to mix the peanut sauce with the rice but we didn’t. It’s still good.

Left: Fresh and cooked beef (small, AUD9).

Right: This should be Laksa Spicy Thai Noodle Soup (small, AUD9). Hmm… I don’t understand why my friend ordered Thai noodle here! *LOL*

There you go… My second Vietnamese food experience. I’m getting a hang of Vietnamese food! Oh dear… Gonna miss it when I’m home for sure.

Flat…

Posted on August 18, 2011August 18, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Flat…

Sigh… I’m really really feeling very flat these days. Feel so numb too. I don’t know to feel sad or angry. I feel very empty too. Also feeling betrayed. Desperate as well!

Time flies. Soon September will come and I’m still the same old me in certain area. Damn pathetic! Feeling like a failure, why oh why?! Back home, everyone is going into new phase of lives, busy with their new life. Here… I thought I can escape such feeling but apparently same thing happened too to people around me. STRESS! Gonna be 29 and I’m still like that. What is wrong with me?!

Weekend is coming, gonna volunteer at the uni’s open day on Sunday. Will try to take more photos to share with you 😉

Oh I’m so random! Must get one assignment done this week. Cheers!

August Shoes Shopping

Posted on August 16, 2011August 16, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on August Shoes Shopping

OH! Was quite busy with assignments lately because want to complete it before my birthday ;p One due next week. How time flies, next month exam again!

Anyway, I’ve been shoes shopping in August and bought 3 pairs of shoes! Goodness, I never did this in Malaysia. The most also 2 pairs a year. This time, in just 3 weeks time and I bought 3 pairs at Rundle Mall. Bye bye AUD50 (around RM160! I never spend this much on shoes, my shoes I bought all below RM40)! One week salary gone hahaha… Reason because spring and summer are coming, boots will not be suitable anymore. Still can wear during spring at night but day time it will really depends on the weather. So have to buy some sandals for spring and summer. There’s end season sales now so take the opportunity to buy them. Also I miss wearing high heels!

Bought this for AUD10 from one of the shops at Rundle Mall at Renaissance Arcade, don’t remember the name of the shop. Size 36, slightly big but don’t care ;p First pair of footware I bought in Adelaide.

Then, bought this last Sunday, AUD19.95 from Valleygirl. When I tried it on, it was not that bad but I didn’t really buckle the strap. Then when I wore it for real walking, GOSH! It’s quite torturing, not comfortable at all. I tried to unbuckle it, it was fine. So it’s the strap that made it uncomfortable, contemplating to cut the strap but think of the money I spent on it, RM60+, I don’t have the heart to do so. In fact I did it before back home but that was a RM20 shoes! 😛 Well… If I don’t convert the currency it’s still the same thing. We’ll see later…

The boots from Suite Boutique in Myer Centre that I’ve been eyeing since the ending of autumn! Gosh! Finally I bought it, it was AUD29.90 (AUD35+ before discount) after discount that time but now it gone down to AUD20! How to resist? Winter is ending I know but I’m buying it for next year’s autumn and early winter ;p Also for winter now which will end in half month time! It’s so versatile, it’s over my knee, and can fold it to turn it into calves boots, then can fold it in any pattern you can think of. Most importantly even though it’s high, it’s quite comfortable to wear. Since I haven’t wear any heels ever since I’m here, I need to get used to walking in heels again -.-”

Left: Folded the top part.
Second left: The heels and folded it a bit more far down.
Second right: Original. Over my knee. Can wear it during spring without legging and pair it with short skirt or shorts 😉
Right: folded the top part all the way down.

Due to the angle of the photo taken, it made my feet looked big but in actual fact it’s not like this. I really love this boots, it’s warm too. I was having hard time trying to figure should I get the brown one or the grey one. Black did not have size 6 anymore. I asked the saleperson there and she recommended grey because it’s easier to mix and match. I had to buy it because only 2 pairs left, one brown, one grey. The first time I set my eyes on was black but since I have black boots already I didn’t bother to get it.

So there you go… Can’t spend much until September because I overspent hehehe… Luckily I do have a part-time job else I’ll be in deep trouble ;p

Uyghur Restaurant @ Prospect

Posted on August 13, 2011August 16, 2011 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Uyghur Restaurant @ Prospect

Two weeks ago, after CIBO, we went to Prospect for Xin Jiang cuisine. My very first time having this type of cuisine.

It’s halal! I’m sure some will be delighted. It’s located outside the city though, at Prospect, but I’m not sure of the exact address only know that there’s a petrol station(don’t remember the name also ;p) with Woolworths at the opposite of it. Didn’t expect such small shop to have very good business. Even need to make reservation. We didn’t, so we had to wait for I think half hour for a table.

Here’s what we ordered:

Left: Uyghur Kabab (AUD2 each), minimum order 3 skewers. Nice! I love it!

Right: Goshnan (AUD11), not really a fan of this dish but it’s not bad too. It’s Uyghur style pastry with lamb, onion, and spices.

Left: Dapanji (AUD26), huge portion! You can share this with more than 4 people! Just order this should be enough to make you full if all of you are small to medium eaters. I love the noodle! Spicy chicken, potato stir-fried with special sauce serve with handmade noodle. Mind you, the more you eat, the more spicy it gets. We requested it not to be spicy but at the end it’s still spicy. To those who can’t stand even a bit of spiciness, you might want to skip this. Suddenly I want to eat this again!

Right: This is not spicy but I don’t remember the name -.-” Silly me, forgot to take photo of the menu for this one. It’s a type of lamb dish. HUGE portion too! Lots of lamb fat. Not spicy at all. Looks spicy but it’s not. It’s served with a type of roti canai like bread. Did a search online and apparently some bloggers also forgot to take note of this dish’s name ;p

Overall total for 5 people with quite a number of canned and bottled drinks, the bill came up to about AUD94 or 95, don’t quite remember.
